What's the first resort you ever stayed at?

My first on-site stay was at All Star Music in the Country Fair building. It was very nice, and we really loved the convenience of being on Disney property. I think that was the beginning of my love for WDW.

Since then I have stayed at the BWI, GF, WL, Poly, AKL, YC, and BC. I've only got the Contemporary left before I have stayed at all the deluxe resorts. Guess I'll just have to go back, LOL! :teeth:

Our first taste of Disney was the Coronodo Springs Resort.
My husband and I actually used to make fun of the "crazy" people who would pay "disney" prices and stay on property when we could do the parks and get a hotel on i-92 for $25....
The we stayed at CSR....What a difference! It's silly but it was the actually glasses in the room for water and the linen shower curtain that showed me the Disney difference. That was in 97....since then we have stayed at every resort except for the Poly, GF and Contemporary!
Now we say.."remember when we used to make fun of people like us....!":jester: :jester:

Our first resort was the Grand Floridian in May 1990. I became instantly enamoured and it remains my favorite resort to this day.
But my family likes to try other resorts, too and we have since stayed at
Polynesian 1993
Beach Club 1995
Beach Club 1998
Old Key West 1999
Disneyland Hotel 2000
Grand Floridian 2001
Boardwalk Villas 2002

and next in line........BWI Concierge 2004!

My first visit was March 2002 (28 yrs old), and we stayed at the CBR for 5 days.

We just came back from FW Cabins and we stayed for 10 days!! We are now planning another trip for the spring and we are hoping to stay at the Wilderness Lodge.

We are hoping to eventually stay at each one of the resorts with the exception of the All Stars.

Mine was Carribean Beach Resort, back in 1989. They were still building certain phases of it. We stayed in Martinique. I don't think Jamacia was finished yet. MGM had just opened that month (May) and boy - All I can say is that it has come a LONG way since then. I think we saw everthing that was available to be seen in less than a 1/2 day. The Indiana Jones Stunt show was still under construction!
That's my trip down memory lane.:D

Our first onsite resort was Shades of Green.

Second was Dixie Landings (PO Riverside) and that was our first taste of Disney theming, which blew us away!

Our first visit we stayed at the Carribean Beach Resort and was hooked on staying on the Disney property. Second visit, All Star Movies. Next visit, Wilderness Lodge - can't wait! I'd love to try them all!

The first hotel we stayed at was the Polynesian in 1996...in fact, we were hoping to stay at the Contemporary, but it was booked and unavailable. The next time we went, we got the Contemporary and haven't stayed anywhere since! :)

Dixie Landings...my first trip to Disney as an adult w/ SO(now DH).
We still love it!

First resort was Poly in the summer of 1972 I was 6 yrs old. My parents tell me the rate at the time was $29 per night. (Days Inn at the same time was $24 per night)
Other resorts:
CBR (1)
Dixie Landings (4)
FW Camp Ground (1)
Dolphin (3)
Port Orleans (1)
Poly (5)
AK (1)

The first resort I stayed at was the Polynesian in July 1972...me and a girlfriend were 17 and stayed for a week. My father at the time was making the coins and jewelery for Disney, so all my ticket books were given to me free including the all E-ticket books!!! Since then I've been back more times than I can count with the hubby and kids.....stayed at Boardwalk, Beach Club, Polynesian, Dixie, All-Star Music and Movies....next trip is this December at Christmas and we'll be staying at the Grand Floridian for the first time.

Our first stay was at Ft. Wilderness the year WDW opened. I can remember taking the monorail through the Contemporary and past the Poly thinking that was where the rich people stayed and I would stay there one day myself.

LOL - I used to think the same thing. I have gotten to the point in my life that I can now afford to stay at these resorts & even when I do stay there I think "Wow!! This is where the rich people stay!!!" I'm still in awe of these beautiful resorts.

Anyway, my first stay was at FW in a 5th wheel camper with my parents & siblings.

After getting married our first on-site stay was in a FW home. We have since stayed at CR, BC & have recently joined the DVC (OKW is our home), but our favorite is still FW by far!! :p

DH & I are going to try the Boardwalk in Oct. for an anniversary trip without our DD's!!

The Tree House Villas in 1986. It was our first trip to WDW and I had always wanted to stay in the Tree Houses. I scrimped and saved and took my 3 children and my parents and brother. It was wonderful! It cost $200 a night. I bought a package that included 2 meals a day and 7 day park hoppers. We were supposed to go to a cheaper hotel for the last few days, I think a Swiss Chalet, at the end of our trip to save money. However we loved where we were so much, I bit the bullet and extended. Unfortunately we couldn't stay at the Treehouses so we moved over to the Fairway Villas. It too was awesome! It took another 14 years before we could afford to go back.

The year was 1999 Nov and we took our DS for the first time to WDW. We were originally booked at POR but at the last minute I upgarded to the Poly. It was great and I was so glad we did. It was a magical vacation and one our DS will remember forever. This Nov were are making our 3rd trip and this time we are staying at the BC concierge.

Around 1994 or so, I had a boyfriend who had grown up in a big Disney-fan family. We were young and broke at the time, but I put together a surprise Disney trip for his Birthday: Motel-6 on 192, Florida Resident day passes for MK. (I think we only went the one day because that was all we could afford).

As I mentioned, he was a total Disney freak - despite living 3 hrs away, I had no idea there were any hotels at Disney other than the Contemporary. I was just clueless. On our cheapo trip, he showed me around some of the resorts - the Swan & Dolphin (I was totally overwhelmed), and best of all - Port Orleans. I'm a big New Orleans/French Quarter person (was even more so back then), and I just couldn't believe this resort existed. I was totally blown away. I figured I'd never be able to afford to stay on-site but I was still completely entranced.

I didn't get to stay there until September 1997 (with a different boyfriend, we both had good-paying jobs). I was still pretty clueless - I booked a package deal via MKC, didn't realize it would have been cheaper to go "room-only" with Florida Res discounts. But anyway, I loved it... I loved using the onsite transportation (boats to Downtown!), loved the theming, loved the food court.

I've stayed at every mod except Carribean now at least twice, and Port Orleans (what is now known as FQ) is still my favorite, and my heart is broken that we cannot stay there for a big trip coming up in September.

I'll never forget the feeling of discovering the on-site resorts by *walking into them* without even previously knowing they existed. Much different experience, I think, than having found them on the Web and looking at photos for months ahead of time. :)

For us it was the ASMusic Calypso building. I thought it was amazing! The following year we stayed at AKL and loved it even more. This year we stayed at AKL yet again, we just couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Next is BWInn and BC! It is my dream to try all of the resorts!
