What's the deal with Animal Kingdon?

We always try to catch the Tarzan Rocks show (I know they are doing away with this, but I think it is still there for a little while) :flower:
Doing away with the show? Boy, I'm glad we saw when we were there in May. I thought it was great!

Honestly both of my kids DD4 and DS8 love animals so i figured that the animals would make them fall in love with AK. Well we spent a day there last week and they both loved it but i dont think it had anything to do with the animals. DS 8 loved Dinosaur. Both kids loved It's tough to be a bug, the lion king show and the 'excavation site'. We got there around 9:15 and left around 5:00. you could probably do it in less than that though since we spent an hour seeking shelter from a thunderstorm.

It is our favorite park. We typically spend about 45 minutes in the Oasis alone, an area of the park which most guests seem to spend less than 5 minutes.

What's the Oasis?

If you are doing the touring plans or moving quickly from ride to ride... then this probably won't be your cup of tea.... If you are willing to stop and smell the roses this is a great park. (Although some of the roses smell like pigs LOL!)

I would return to AK. It has made mild modifications since it openned. However, it will soon be the hot spot with all the new construction going on.

The Gorillas and Tigers are very cool.

Lion King is worth the admission alone.

this is my husbands favorite park at Disney. The whole park is beautiful and clean and awe inspiring. We too were there right when it first opened, and to be honest a little dissappointed ourselves. I think they just opened too early. This park is definately meant to be meandered in and enjoyed in a peaceful mind. The newer rides for the kids in Dinoland are fun, but nothing beats the safarri. We would do this park over every other one, except for the MK. And thats mostly 'cause its simply the best. And thats mostly 'cause its simply the best. :wizard:

We just spent July 2 in AK. It was unbearably HOT and HUMID!!! We saw the Jammin' Jungle Parade for the first time and it was great! True Disney design and my hubby loved the Jeeps!! I agree that it's the best Disney parade right now. (SpectroMagic is my favorite, but I consider that an EVENT, not a parade! :teeth: ) We hit our favorites bought huge drinks and found a shady spot to wait for the parade. Really couldn't enjoy the walk through animal exhibits because the extreme weather. I enjoyed it much more when we visited in the Fall months.

not too many people really like AK. i don't think it's that bad, but i don't think it's a full day park.

As a family we hated Ak, but with an extra day to burn we gave it another try this past May. I'm so glad we did!!! As a family we had a blast and love it now. We slowed down, did/saw different things and just enjoyed it all. We took the train over to Rafiki's Planet Watch/Conservation Station, watched the Birds of Flight Show, spent hours in Dinoland (don't know how, but we did--LOL) and managed to stay dry on Kali!

I'm glad you're going to give it another try. Let us know how it goes and have fun.
