What's the big deal about crocs??

I don't get what all the fuss is about crocs. Personally I think that they are one of the ugliest things ever created. Wait about 20 years and on VH-1's "I Love 2006" show, we will all get a good laugh about how ugly and popular these things are and say "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I wore those haha".

Discuss what the big deal is about these things.....

I too think they are quite possibly the ugliest shoe ever invented. I made myself put one on once just to see if they were comfortable and they weren't. So I am one of the ones who just doesn't get it. I saw so many at WDW last week too. Ugh. I'll take my Keen sandals any day over them.

Seriously, they are the ugliest things on the face of the earth, but I'm on my feet 13 hours at work and they are soooo comfortable. Every nurse I know (okay, almost every one) owns a pair. I wont step outside my house in them if I'm not in my scrubs, but they are comfy.

I never thought they were that ugly! But I know I'm in the minority with that opinion. I just think they're very comfortable. I love wearing them at work all day long ... and to the mall ... and in the car ... and I'm sure I'll love them at WDW... and... well, you get the picture.

Plus, I was never as happy as the day I walked into a giant puddle with my Crocs on and instead of getting a water-logged sneaker, all the water just ran right out of my shoes!

To me the big deal is comfort. Of course, they won't work for everyone. In my case, I've tried lots of other shoes that everyone else thinks are comfortable (like Birkenstocks, Tevas, etc.), and they have all hurt my feet (I have VERY flat feet, so it's hard to find things that work). I also think they fall under the "so ugly they are cute" thing. To each his/her own. I will also say that most of the other "comfort shoes" out there aren't much, if any, better looking.

I have no idea why they are popular. Maybe because they are cheap ($30.00 is very inexpensive for footwear). I just can't see paying that for plastic shoes. I have no idea what the big deal is with these shoes.

I also agree that it will be one of those embarrasing fads that will make us laugh in 10 years.

Birks are ugly, but at least they come in neutral colors. Crocs say, "I'm ugly and I'm available in a variety of tacky neon colors to show it off."

First, they really aren't 'plastic'..they are an antibacterial material. I have yet to have stinky feet in mine. I did buy some nice Mephisto's, but for $150 they had best be comfy!!! And they are, however, I prefer my Crocs for WDW wear. I have high arches, and when I have on my Crocs, my knees, back and feet do not hurt. Go figure. My dh now has 3 pair, dd has about 5, and I think I have 6. A lot of our friends were poo-pooing the Crocs, until they tried them on. Oh, well, different story now!!! My 30 y/o dd says she would rather die than put something that ugly on her feet. But, the 13 y/o dd thinks they are terrific, as do a lot of her buddies at school. Hey, when you get to be 57 y/o, you stop worrying about 'cute' and go with ahhhh, soooo comfy!!! Must be those 'clouds and children's laughter'!!!!!

They may be ugly but they sure are comfortable! They feel good on my feet. It doesn't matter if it is raining because the shoes won't get messed up. They aren't going to stink if they get wet. You can just throw them in the washing machine when they need to be cleaned. Did I mention that they are comfortable?

Comfort doesn't have to be ugly...but apparently no one told the inventors of Crocs that

Ugliest shoe I've ever seen. They remind me of clown feet and look silly on everyone.

I tried a few pairs on, but they were not comfortable for me....
although, I understand everyone has different tastes I just wonder in a few years if .............crocs will be what jelly shoes were....

We in the Carolinas call them "Gardening Shoes" although I like the name "crocs" better as they look like a crocs mouth (I have a mind like a steel trap ).

When I get home at the end of the day my feet, legs and knees don't hurt any more. That sure makes my crocs look cuter and cuter.

Actually, THESE are the ugliest shoes...Keen Yogui...but I love mine! (I have someone at work who starts humming the Flintstone theme song whenever I come in with them, but I don't care. )
