A girl can dream °0°

Interestingly enough, our upcoming trip kind of is a "bucket list" vacation for my mom. She and I have always said we'd get back to "the Mouse" at least once more during our lives. She's 73 now, has retired from one job but is still working and has recently started entertaining the idea of resigning and finally being a real retiree. (Although yesterday she told me she thinks she'll work until she's 80!). So she mentioned wanting to go on a vacation while she was still working/bringing in extra money and could afford it. Disney was the natural first choice. Finally! Seventeen years after our last trip we're heading back. So this is a bucket list trip of sorts. Now, it isn't a deluxe resort with deluxe (or even regular) dining plan. There are no signature restaurants in our agenda, and we won't be doing anything extravagant while there. But we're staying at the resort we stayed at all those years ago (Coronado), and we do have the Quick Service dining plan. We will be eating at Be Our Guest. Oh, and I guess the one "special" thing is we'll be seeing La Nouba one night! I surprised her with that one, and she's so excited.

For myself, I'd love to go back with my best friend (who also loves Disney) and her soon-to-be-teenage daughter. I think we'd have a blast!
And other than that, I'd love to go during Christmastime and stay at the Wilderness Lodge.

That sounds awesome. It's great that you can share your love of WDW with your mother. We liked La Nouba, but we have liked most of the Cirque du Soleil shows we have seen. Sometimes doing simpler things can be more enjoyable:)

5. See Mickey's Philharmagic, Fantasmic, Star Tours, Hall of Presidents, and Carousel of Progress (for some reason, I never get around to doing these)
8. Ride the Liberty Square Riverboat

You have to do these. Star Tours, Carousel of Progress, and the Riverboat are family favorites. DH and I like Hall of Presidents; DS not so much. However, DS loves Philharmagic because of Donald. Fantasmic is good, but we don't see it every visit.

Do the tequila flight in Mexico at Epcot. That was on our list the last three trips and we didn't do it yet.

BillFromPA

We love La Cava. I will have to add the tequila flight to my list, maybe when we go in March:scratchin

4. Visit in the off-season - not going to happen until I retire in 17 years or win the lotto
5. 24 hour event - again not until I retire & I probably won't make it past midnight by that point.

For me, it's when DS gets older or graduates. We don't like to take him out of school, so it's hard to do the non-school holiday events.

Become a CM.

I would love to just be able to work there for a year after I retire, maybe in retail, food & beverage, at an attraction, or as a VIP tour guide. Maybe someday.

5) All the major rides at night time.

That's a good one. We did Jungle Cruise at night last trip, and it was really different. 7DMT at night is more fun, because you can't see what's coming up. I want to the Peoplemover at night too. The railroad is awesome during sunset; the view at the Main Street Station of the World, especially the Contemporary, is beautiful.

4. Take a "double dip" cruise (Castaway Cay twice in the same trip)

I would like to do this too. Castaway Cay is our favorite cruise line private island.

I guess just going back to Disney would be on my bucket list. We just returned from a week long trip yesterday. We me, DH, dd(16), and ddbff(15). We had such a great time even though the heat made it hard to embrace the Christmas ambiance. We stayed at the beach club resort which we All loved. My DD is 16, so I figured this might be our fifth and final trip for a long time. Teenagers aren't too much into characters and my DD has never been into thrill rides like TOT or Everest. But everyone had so much fun that they were talking about returning again in a year or two. I hope. We splurged for the Wild Africa Trek and had the most amazing time. Also, everyone loved the wishes dessert party - which was a great way to watch wishes since the crowds were so Large. If we return, I would like to approach touring differently- maybe slow down the pace a little, which will be challenging but fun to plan. I would like to Take time to enjoy our resort. I would like to do one of the experiences At The Seas in Epcot , the behind the seeds tour at The Land and behind the steam strains tour in MK. I would like to spend more time in the Africa area of MK - maybe get a drink from the Dawa bar and watch the drummers. We have stayed at BCV and BC, Okw, Akv- kindani and AOA - Cars. I would love to stay at one of the MK resorts even if it's just for a few days. Just as a side note we did typhoon lagoon but I much preferred our time at blizzard beach in the past.

I hope we can enjoy going as a family, even after DS grows up and moves out. It's easier to slow down the more often you go. Each time I plan for a little bit of a slower trip, where we spend more time at the resort. The Steam Train Tour does look fun. DH and I actually grabbed a drink at Dawa last trip while waiting for our Tusker House ADR, and the whole family played on the drums:rockband: The drummers were taking a break I guess.

5. Be a CM (my current plan for retirement)
6. Get an annual pass
7. Attend MVMCP, MNSSHP, Food and Wine
8. Be selected as family of the day at MK. :)
9. Be in front of the castle on the first day of retirement as the day begins at my former place of work. :rotfl:

I am with you on #5:thumbsup2 It's a secret dream of mine. I want to go often enough that I can justify an AP too. I would like to attend the parties too; I have a plan in the works for F&W. With you on #8 too. #9 is priceless:)

Work as an Imagineer
Stay in the castle
Skipper a Jungle Cruise
Go to all the Disney parks

Sigh, not sure if this is my bucket list or my list of impossible things.

I know some of mine might be impossible too, but you have to keep dreamingpixiedust: Imagineer might be hard, but maybe you could do something in retirement, like run attractions or be a VIP Tour guide:) Staying in the castle would be sweet. Have you thought about doing the Jungle Cruise Sunrise Safari Breakfast? There was a good report on DIS. It looked like fun.

Key to the Kingdom tour
La Nouba( crossing that one off this summer)
Fireworks cruise
Rent a boat from marina
Aulani
Roy and or Walt suite on fantasy

I want to do KTTK too. La Nouba is good; you won't be disappointed. I had forgotten about the fireworks cruises. I have wanted to rent a boat from the marina since the first time we visited (not stayed) at Poly when I was a kid:boat: I am not as sold on Aulani, because Hawaii is just so magical anyway. Those suites on the Fantasy would be sweet:)

Not too much left for me:
1- stay in a Treehouse Villa and/or grand villa- DVC
2- attend Flower and Garden show
3- the AK safari that includes Jiko dinner (Wanyama safari and dinner)
4- be there for NYE
5- eat at some more of the signature dining places we've not been to yet (Flying Fish, Citricos, Narcoossee's, Yachtsman, Fulton's, The Boathouse, Morimoto Asia, Il Mulino and Shulas)
6- attend the MK dessert party
7- stay at VWL during Xmas decoration time (ETA)

Last edited:
1. Visit when parks/resorts are decorated for Christmas.
2. Visit Disneyland
3. Make an extended visit (2 weeks or more) with no kids. This will happen when DH retires.
4. Keys to the Kingdom Tour (will happen on the first trip we take after all of the kids are over 16)
5. Stay at each of the Deluxe Resorts (except for AKL -- no desire to stay there). This will happen when we only have 1 or 2 kids traveling with us instead of 4 or 5.
6. Visit during Food & Wine Festival

Already crossed off my bucket list:

1. Illuminations cruise. Actually enjoyed it so much that we're doing it again on the next trip.
2. Visit during Flower & Garden Festival. Though it rained the entire week and I didn't really get to enjoy it like I had hoped. This might find it's way back on to the bucket list.

MK rope drop / good night kiss (not on the same day)
Party for the senses
Eat in Cinderella's castle
NYE in EPCOT

The first three may come off this fall!

Was happy to read these lists and realize how much we have done in our 20+ years visiting!

I've been lucky to do quite a few of the things posted, but I've yet to do:

1) Take my kids to WDW
1b) Go back to WDW for an adult trip with just DH
2) Disney Cruise - preferably on the Fantasy or the Dream
3) Stay at monorail resort at WDW
4) Tokyo DL and Disney Sea

I don't have a bucket list because I have simple tastes and stay in moderates by choice.

Have been to both WDW and DL and if I travel internationally it wouldn't be to visit other Disney resorts. It would be to Italy, Normandy coast of France, New Zealand, Austria, Norway and, my personal favorite, Great Britain (again!!)

1. Take a Disney cruise.

2. Stay at WL (in particular, during December).

3. Do the Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

4. MNSSHP

5. F&G

6. Stay at one of the on property resorts at DL.

7. See DL at Christmas time.

8. See WoC in person (I've seen it online).

9. Stay in a DVC room, even if it's just a studio.

I made this list with our 2016 trip in mind. I know these are pretty simple things that most have already experienced by most but I am so looking forward to them.

2016 Bucket List
1. Be there for the opening show at MK
2. Stay until the park closes being one of the last out
3. Watch Fireworks from the beach at the Poly
4. Resort hop and explore most of the resorts
5. Watch the fireworks while riding a ride
6. Go for Halloween
7. Go for Food and Wine

Lifetime Bucket List
1. Go to Disneyland
2. Keys of the Kingdom Tour
3. Stay at a Monorail Hotel
4. GO on a Disney Cruise
5. Be a DVC Member

Thank you to the OP!! I really had to sit and think about this.
Disney Bucket List

1. Sister and I only trip (or partial trip)

2. Behind the steam tour

3. work at AK with animals (when we retire south)

4. work in retail on property (I know it sounds crazy, but I love to assist and I work in a customer focused industry now, why not use it to help sell fun items)

5. off property but Discovery Cove dolphin swim

6. food and wine festival

7. Shula’s

8. solo trip (or day)

9. camp

10. 10 day trip

I hope my 40th bday trip in 2017 hits at least number 7 and 2. A 10 day trip probably won't happen until DD is out of school, and the dolphin swim I would want her to do too, so I would wait on that also.

(1) Keys to the Kingdom tour -- And I have this planned for January of 2017

These were on my bucket list till I priced them out for spring break. They are just a little to rich for my blood. And my value conscious / bean counter personality I'm sure will keep me from ever doing them.
- Stay in a Savannah View room at the AKL
- Wild Africa Trek Tour
