What's going on with POFQ??

Just got off the phone w/CRO. I asked what the re-opening date for POFQ was, and was told that they did not know. Went back and forth with CM, telling her my 'friend' had ressies for October, for POFQ and she kept insisting that I was wrong and that the system showed no opening date for French Quarter yet.

I asked if there was anyone else she could ask. She put me on hold and came back and said that she was told it MAY be opening the end of September, but they weren't taking reservations and there was no guarantee. She wasn't very nice about it either...

So my question is, haven't people posted on this board about having ressies for POFQ later this year?? If you have made ressies for French Quarter, does your confirmation sheet say French Quarter?

I am so confused!

If you use the Walt Disney Travel Co. online trip planner, they're accepting ressies for POFQ starting 10/1. We're confirmed there for 12/30-1/4.
I had been told by one of the Travel Co. phone operators back in February that 9/13 was the tentative re-opening date.
Anybody know how extensive the refurbishing was?

I have the confirmation on standard Disney letterhead sitting right in front of me for PO-FQ, Oct 19-26th. We had originally had it for PO-FQ Oct 27-Nov 4th, but had to change it... I had no problems whatsoever when I called either time. Sounds like you may have gotten a CM from another area (they are pulling from other parts of the park to cover in CRO as they are swamped). Call back and ask again!

Let us know what you hear this time!

We made these ressies through CRO, so they do know when it will be opening, and they ARE accepting ressies. We had originally had it for PO-FQ Oct 27-Nov 4th, but had to change it... I really don't think any refurbishing is going on. We were at POR in February and passed POFQ multiple times and never saw anything going on there, no one coming or going, no people whatsoever. I truely think it was shut down due to crowd volume, and as long as POR can handle that volume, POFQ will remain closed. ~:(~

I called back yesterday and simply asked if I was able to make a reservation for POFQ for the dates I wanted (10/24-28). The CM, Katrina, was extremely helpful and personable as well! So I now have ressies for French Quarter for October! Too bad there aren't any discounts out yet for that time! $154+tax/nt!!

My Fiancee and I have Ressies for the POFQ for the week of November 10-16 for our honeymoon. I can't wait to go.

It seems like a lot of people are passionate about having this resort open again. Is it really that good? If so, what makes it that good? I have never stayed their before.

POFQ is the smallest of the Moderate resorts, I believe. We enjoyed the pool and the New Orleans ambience of the place, with the fountains in the squares between buildings and the gardens. The French Toast in the now closed Bonfamille's Cafe was very good!
Our family just happened to have some very good times there. If we'd been at Dixie Landings or Coronodo Springs, we'd probably feel the same way about those resorts.

Then I read:

It amazes me that CRO staff don't have the same information week in and week out. We've seen this countless times where you can get another CM and get a totally different answer.

Why can't they have the superivsors print out daily updates, with each resort listed, that the CM can check, right in front of them. Then any CM could sit down and when stumped with a question, check their daily "cheatsheet."

I think the CRO management needs to spend some time in a technical online troubleshooting department to see how to develop flow-charts and set up standards so everyone has the same reponse.

This is a management issue, not a CM issue in my opinion.

Just remember that alot of people had "confirmations" back in December when they closed POFQ, as a matter of fact I believe they were still "taking" reservations right up until they closed it, they just didn't fullfill those reservations.:( The holiday ressies were way down last year and that's why they closed it, perhaps they are hoping the numbers will be back up to normal this year. ~:)~

No one is saying that they couldn't change their minds and keep it (PO-FQ) closed, however, they are currently taking reservations, and expect it to be open at that time...that was all that was being discussed, as guests seem to be getting conflicting information. No, it really isn't a CM problem, it seems to be a problem with communication. However, no matter where we are, as long as it is a moderate or above, we will be happy with it, as we will be in WDW!!!!
