What's for dinner? Was it "budget"?

Tonight we had grilled chicken breast that I got on sale, Casar salad and corn on the cob..

I'll give this a shot
Tonight was stuff we had in the cabinet.
I am guessing the prices on most.
Kids had:
pb&j sandwiches (so .60 for bread, pb&j = .40)
nana = .20
yogurt = .40
milk = .40
DH had:
canned onion soup $1.oo
bacon and cheese sandwich = .60
I had:
leftover pasta = .25
olive oil = .15
peas = .5

So about $4.50 :thumbsup2 even less since I over estimate everything

Tonight's dinner ~ grilled steak salads:

Steak $4.79 on sale :)
Lettuce $1.29
Tomato $0.74
Cucumber $0.99
Boiled eggs (5) $0.83
Croutons $1.25
Avocado $2.00
Ranch $1.25

Total $13.14 for six of us.

Tonight we are having meatball subs and salad

Meatballs (leftover in sauce) $0
HotDog Rolls (leftover) $0
Mozzarella Cheese $1.00
Parmesan Cheese $.50
Romaine Lettuce $1.00
Salad toppings (anything leftover from the week) $0

Dinner for 4 - $2.50

Hope everyone has a great day:)

Last night we had roast that cost about $10 cooked in the crockpot with carrots $1 and potatoes $1 and onion soup mix $.50. So dinner was about $12.50. But the leftovers got cut up and tossed into a bag with the skimmed broth. I'll add more potatoes $1.50 to make a stew or hash and two meals will have cost $14 or $7 a meal. (I'll probably put out some crackers too, but that's part of a $1 box, so I'm still in the right neighborhood.

I cleaned out the crockpot last night and threw a big chicken in to let it cook overnight. This morning I'm picking the meat and adding it back to the skimmed broth. That'll be simmered with frozen noodles for another dinner this week. Can't remember what it cost, but I think the chicken was less than $4 and the noodles weren't much. I might even have enough chicken to freeze some for a casserole.

And I got sausages for $5. I'm going to slice them and simmer them with a jar of spaghetti sauce $1 and two green peppers $1 and an onion (not much). This will be served on hoagie rolls. I'll keep the leftover sauce, add more sauce to it $1 and make spaghetti $1 and french bread $1. I'll just need to add green vegetables and we'll have two meals there.

Those were probably the only budget meals I got for this week, unless I fix beans and cornbread. :confused3

*Tonight will be leftover pulled chicken bbq from last night. I'm not going to amend that at all since it was so good!
*crusty rolls $1.15 (I think I'll have two tonight!)
*tomatoes sliced with balsamic vinegar dressing $1.00
*brownies $1.50 (includes the mix, eggs, oil)

= $3.65 for 2!

Typical we don't eat dessert except if it's fruit or maybe a handful of pb cups or homemade cookies or brownies- wait...guess we do eat dessert! lol But today I feel like some brownies :cloud9:

I think I'm making a mediterranean pizza tonight...feta, artichoke hearts, olives, red onion, roasted red peppers. Mmmmmm!

I'll make an English muffin pizza with just sauce and cheese for Mr. Picky DS8.:rolleyes1

Tonight we had
meatballs ($5.00 for meat) added ingredients very miminal probaly .20 cents
mashed taters .60 plus some sour cream .75
canned corn .50

So about $7 for 4 (no leftovers)

Well, we have the flu bug in this house. Last night all we ate was some homemade vegetable soup that my mom sent (anybody that ate). We were suppossed to have a superbowl party tomorrow, but not now and I have all the junk food. So we are having junk food tonight and tomorrow because I bought enough for 8 people. By junk food I mean wings, veggie plate, potato skins, chicken strips, etc... Put it all together and it kinda makes a meal. Monday will be a roast and veggies.

I had garlic mashed potatoes $.75, and DH had a $.99 mini pizza. I had my wisdom teeth out yesterday so I didn't feel like cooking or solid food! So we ate dinner for $1.74. :) Oh, I had homemade tapioca pudding, too...let's say that cost about $.50.

Lots of posters and their families are not feeling well on this thread! I hope everyone is on the mend. :wizard:

We used a GC to Outback that we got for Christmas. We just did the curbside pickup. It was very good! And the bonus no cooking or clean up! Happy. Happy. Happy. :yay:

Homemade pizza (3 pizzas):

Crust mix (3) $2.37
Sauce $1.98
Pepperoni $1.98
Cheese $4.00

Total $10.33 :)

Lean Cuisine
3 bowls of cereal
slice of Bologna -
Not sure of exact cost - but pretty cheap! DS8 and DS4 had a birthday party at 5, so they were not looking for a big dinner.... So cereal it was - ds1 was more than happy with that, and oh - the 1 slice of bologna! What a combination, huh?? :scared1: DH was working late and DSIL fed him!

Went grocery shopping for the week. Here is what I got:

1)family size pk of ground beef, 0.99 can of sauce and Ziti - Ziti and meatballs one night for dinner
2)Left overs from Superbowl (sooo not "budget" but what can you do?! It the SUPER BOWL!!)
3) took a pork roast out of the freezer, add 1.69 bag of frozen mixed veggies (low carb meal - Disney will be here before I know it!;) )
4)Pork Chops out of freezer, add .99$ BBQ, rolls for DH and Boys, bag of $1.29corn.
5)Meatball subs another night using the left overs
6) Frozen Pizzas for basketball night -$8 for 2 pizzas - still cheaper than Pizza Hut! That should get me through til next weekend...

Add a 20 pk of beer, other odds and ends, and stuff for muchies for the superbowl (cheese, crackers, pepperoni, shrimp platter, fixings for stuffed mushrooms and S&S meatballs) , 2 boxes of cereal, paper goods, lunches and snacks for school, baby wipes and cat food and I still came in for the week under $150 for a family of 5 and the SUPER BOWL! :cheer2: Not too shabby!:woohoo:

Dinner for us was free tonight - spaghetti and homemade meatballs that I made yesterday :)

Morning all! No posts in 2 whole days?!? We must remedy this...

Tonight I am planning a baked chicken and pasta dish.
Rotini pasta and boneless, skinless chicken breasts; baked with a garlic/herb cream sauce. Topped with bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.
I will serve a veggie with this... whatever I can find in the freezer. I am thinking it will be broccoli/cauliflower.

Tonight we're having loaded baked potatoes. :) What ever is going around we have it I think. I don't feel so great. None of us are 100%, but no fevers, no runny noses. Just keeping an eye on things.

Back to the loaded potatoes. I put the potatoes in the crockpot. First time I've ever done that! I've always heard you should wrap each one in foil, but a friend told me to just line the bottom of the crockpot so I'm trying that.

We have a lot of left over "Super Bowl Chili"! Yea! :) It's good and it was all a gift! So I'm putting the chili over the potatoes, with sour cream, shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, and green onions.

Tonight is Ham.

Ham was on sale for $0.99/lb( spiral cut ham) - 8lbs = $8.xx / $4.00 each meal?

I think it was because with the Super Bowl...it wasn't very budget...or like in my house...it didn't really resemble a meal:rotfl:

You chicken sounds yummy!!

Tonight will be a mexican casserole:

the other part of the rotisserie chicken (about $3)
tortillas (free:banana: coupon)
cheese(maybe a $1 worth)
refried beans 50 cents

and other ingredients (maybe $1 total)

corn will be the side dish. It's a yummy creation that is different each time I make it.
