Y'all grow em big up there!!:rotfl2: Lauren, he's going to be huge!

It's in the wautah! (water in Jersey talk)

We got in late Tuesday night. Both of us were totally exhausted. We thought it was from pushing ourselves on the trip, but now we're both sniffling & coughing too.

We had some great food & Mom enjoyed the trip a lot! Raglan Road's food was awesome! A real surprise!

I expected to come home to a mess & not being able to use the bedroom. But my dear dear contractor Mario had the room totally finished when we came home. He even made the bed & dusted the room!!!!! How cool is that!

I hope you guys feel better. I cannot wait to hear what you had at RR...that is my favorite, favorite restaurant. We are going there the first night of out trip! :woohoo:

What a guy Mario is. Does he want to come to Jersey for a couple weeks? What work were you having done?

Oh, and how long did it take you to get into the race track?

Inquiring minds want to know! ;)

Okay, I am going to try to catch up here.

Wendie-:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I missed you Sweetie, Welcome home! I would tell you to send Ross to us if he get's hungry but trying to pry him away from Auntie Kathy and Auntie Lori would be just too daunting! Tell him that I want to be NOLA girl too. Buddy would love that if I would cook that good food for him as well.

Kathy- You have got to be beside yourself! Between the girls and baseball your boy is going to keep you both hopping! Gail's girls were both offered scholarships at colleges out of state but they ended up attending Central which was 20 minutes from home. It is funny that they chose to stay close because both had said they wanted to go away :confused3 Kyle will decide what works for him, if he is like our bunch he will like being able to stay close. In any case, enjoy the weekend!

Sheryl- I thought about you this weekend, we had the race on both days and the thought of the three of you in that crowd was crazy! We were both jealous though when the Thunderbirds flew overhead!
I hope that the two of you can get some rest and feel better.

Laura- you can decorate costumes for me any day! That was terrific!

Lauren- I use micro fiber on my floors and never have any trouble. I admit I use all kinds of stuff on them now and they are still shiny, but even water cleans them up with no streaks. I got my mop at teh Big E but you can get them anywhere now. My new favorite is Method, I think. It is an almond cleaner and I get it at Target. Buddy says it smells like cyanide and I told him be careful :lmao::lmao::lmao:, that he better be nice because he'll never know if I am cleaning the floors or cookin' him up a snack

Sandy- I forgot about the Eclipse :guilty:

Janice_ I hope that Alex gets over the bug quick!

Lori- What are Earth are you thinking! It is too cold there!

Bawsmom- I agree with Glynis! Stay and share dinner ideas with us!

Glynis_ You are going to have so much fun!

LaurieG- It is never too late to join in here! Please jump in and chat and share meal ideas with us.

Gretchen- That chicken pilau sounds so good! I like gumbo and I like okra but I never have made it but this doesn't sound so hard to make.

Thank you all for your well wishes for Buddy's Aunt. She forgot her glasses when she went to the wake and I think it was all too much for her. Her other brother is suffering from cancer as well and was able to leave the hospital for his brother's services. She somehow tripped and went face first, put her arms out to break her fall and her shoulders separated from the pressure. This poor lady almost never leaves the house and is terribly self conscious as she is overweight so she refused to go to the hospital but Marisa flipped when she heard and threatened to go take her. She called my BIL who is an ER doc to look for her when she got there. He is wonderful and made sure that she was not so scared. Buddy says this poor guy has his hands full just with his family, never mind the rest of us, but I said we are a package deal....he wanted Gail so he has to take all of us :lmao::lmao:

She is a diabetic so the Dr did not want to put plates (?) in, something about infection. She is in some kind of little sling that holds her arms together in front of her and she cannot use them. She would not go to a nursing home so she is home and her daughter will care for her during the day, her other DD at night. I am stopping by after I give my Aunt dinner and will see how I can help, this is going to be at least 12 weeks, maybe more so I think they are going to need another person to count on. Sharon ordered a lift chair for her and has a wheelchair for her coming in and her other DD got bathroom appliances today. I think it is a good thing that she likes TV and looking out eh window.

Nancy - I'm keeping all of you in my prayers, you sure do have a lot on your plate right now. That poor woman, I feel so badly for her. :sad1:

Kathy- she is a wonderful lady and has not had it easy. She has never in all the years I have known her, said one word about anyone. Her girls will help her, she lives with her DD and her DGD 23, who will pitch in as well. I love her dearly. My Mom used to go over when she was driving and visit her. They could tell each other anything. My Mom sometimes visited Gail's Ex MIL and that witch used to talk after. Not Aunt Joan so when anyone needed anything my Mom was the first to offer. Family does not mean blood to them, and these people were the only ones in Buddy's family to accept my brood and anyone else I dragged over. So when Gail and her family drop everything or we do it is because we remember.

Well the baseball coach is getting what he asked for......he signed the boys up for this Houston tournament against some of the best programs in the Houston area to "measure where we are". Kyle just called, we got killed in the first game 13-5. He said these Texas boys are "huge".:rotfl:

Easy dinner tonight... BLT's!
BLT's sound good. We haven't had those in a long time. I think I'll make them Sunday. Thanks for the idea.

Holly ~ Did you get the PM I sent back?

Kathy Poor Kyle I hope the Texas boys get tired and Kyle's team blows them away :thumbsup2

Nancy Sorry to hear about Buddy's Aunt. I hope she mends quickly. Poor thing life is hard enough sometimes without it slapping you in the face.

Wendie Sounds like you are a little better.

Chinese
Spring rolls
Vegetable soup
vegetarian fried rice

That sounds good too! I "get" to go to a Scout banquet, and I'm sure the food will only be "eh", but I guess I shouldn't complain since I don't have to cook it.

On a side note, I just baked Lindsay's Vanilla rich chip cake, and my house smells like Heaven!!! I may just skip the banquet and eat the cake!

Hello Everybody-

I mostly lurk on this thread- there are always great ideas (so thank you for all the inspiration all of you have given me in the past).

On tonight's dinner menu is Omama's Chicken Noodle Soup. Omama's is my DH's Grandma (my boys call her Omama). In my DH's family, the rule is that once Grandma decides you are a keeper she gives you the recipe for her famous chicken noodle soup (that's if you're dating a Grandson- Granddaughters are automatic keepers). It's nice to have a recipe with a little history tied to it, plus it's a hit at my house and is requested a bunch.

Have fun at the Blue and Gold. I liked to go to those banquets when Brendan was a cub scout. It was always catered by a place that has really good chicken. Our last one was Hawaiian themed with fire dancers. The lights were dimmed and we had tiki torches and candles, probably not the best idea with the kids, but it looked really cool. It looked just like a real luau.

Those are the best kind of recipes! I love a recipe that's tied to family memories.

Spaghetti tonight... they didn't eat it all last night so they're getting it again tonight... they'd eat it every night if I let them! We'll have a mixed green salad and garlic rolls too. I came home from work and cleaned house because it was such a mess... ds's room... OMG! I don't know how he does it. :confused3 I did everything but the dusting and vacuuming... dh is off tomorrow. Maybe he'll do it.

Sounds like fun! Ours is not so extravagant. All the different dens are in charge of part of the meal. My guess is that we'll have spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert. I'll report back and let you know if I'm right!

He's definitely a keeper! Welcome home.

Kathy -- Have a great trip. I hope Kyle's team has better success.

Glynis -- Your weekend sounds fun too. Enjoy it!

Here's my pic from tonight. It's baked haddock, baked potato with sour cream and chives, and sugar snap peas -- not exciting, but tasty:
