Well, I'm back, until my computer decides to die again! It's been so terribly frustrating!!!
My week from Hades has ended, and I'm finally able to catch my breath! On Friday, we celebrated the twins birthday with pizza. Their birthday, their request! Not a problem for me!!!
On Saturday morning, we had our families Easter egg hunt! It was so much fun!!! We made sloppy Joses, and then had chips, coleslaw, and I made a dreamsicle salad for sides. Then we let the kids loose to hunt eggs and candy. I use the term "hunt" loosely. There's really no hiding involved. We just scatter candy and eggs over the lawn in the back yard, and let the kids gather. My children managed to find 36 hard boiled eggs!!! They ignored most of the candy, and went for the real eggs. I wasn't too upset, though, since it meant I wouldn't have to boil any more for the deviled eggs for Easter!!!
On Sunday morning, I made hot cross buns for breakfast, and then we all headed off to church. After church, the kids hunted their baskets, and gorged on candy. We planned to have Easter dinner with Alan's brother and his family. I made a honey glazed ham, sugar free tart orange jello, deviled eggs, jello beans, and maple whipped sweet potatoes. The other family was supposed to make roast chicken, rice, broccoli and a green salad. Well, we got over to their house, and found that they had made mashed potatoes. That's it! Not even any gravy! I was so mad! I told Alan that's the last time we do this! The same thing happened at Thanksgiving. I made all the food and they contributed a store bought pumpkin pie and green bean casserole. From now on, I'd just as soon celebrate the holidays with my immediate family!
Dinner tonight was chicken chili, served over mashed potatoes.
