What's a good middle name for Ben?

You could change Lucas to Lucan, some basic name just 1 letter different. :) Benjamin Lucan.

Personally I might go with Kenobi......LOL Seriously, one of my girls is named Jade Sky Walker.....she absolutely LOVES it!!!!!

What about Ryan, Tyler or Carter ~ I however feel that a middle name should be a family name *have some meaning behind it*

I really truly wish we had a family member deserving that honor. :sad2: There would be no question if we did. Even if it meant a goofy acronym or abbreviation for initials.

Ohhh that's awesome! I don't think there would be doubt in our minds if his name was Luke, the middle would easily be Skywalker!

My Benjamin's middle name is Joseph. We've never had the "BJ" problem (he goes by the full Benjamin all the time)- honestly, it never occurred to me until he was over a year old. Joseph was his grandfather's name, so we used it to honor him.

My grandfather's name was Joseph, but of course SIL named her son Joseph. ::sigh::

DBF gives me a hard time about it all the time...DD says to him "be quiet, I love my name" and she does, she tells everyone all the time her name is Sky Walker. LOL :) Of course that might change eventually but it is what it is. :) I just loved the name Sky and really wanted to use it so we did. :)

I thought of a few more that sound good with Benajmin....

Isaac
Joshua
Bradley (I like this one a lot, it flows well, Benjamin Bradley)
Charles
James

I don't think having a name as a middle name that a cousin has for a 1st name is bad or silly. I have 3 nephews who's middle name is Charles *that's their Grandpa's name *middle name but it's what he goes by ~ Charlie

Hey that's another suggestion from me ~ Charles

Just FYI, Lucan is the name of a rather widely despised British General from the last century: George Bingham, 3rd Earl of Lucan. He was the one who famously ordered the suicidal and senseless Charge of the Light Brigade. Lucan isn't in a class with Adolf, but it doesn't have particularly good associations for anyone who has ever been in the military.

As for Ben, every single Benjamin that I know has the middle name of Michael for some reason. I've never heard any of them complain about being called BM. Now, BJ I've heard complaints about, but in those cases the person was actually nicknamed BJ by the family and known by that when they started school.

PS: Benjamin Bradlee was the editor of the Washington Post for 23 years and is still on the newpaper's board. That's probably why the name is ringing a bell. He was a major figure in the Watergate scandal.

How about changing up Kenobi a little to Kenneth? Not the same but it would be something you would know...

I think I would steer clear of any name begining with a k. Initials would be BK. Think Burger King. You would be setting him up for alot of teasing. Same goes for anything with an M. Initials would be BM. One of my DSs had a friend who's name was Brandon Michael. I personaly like it but the kids used to say:
Hey BM have you gone to the bathroom latley. I wouldn't go with anything starting with an O either. Obvious. Kids can be cruel. I always wanted to name a son Andrew. But the last name ends with a jou. It just rhymed a little to much for my taste. So we went with Nicholas and Phillip. You could always use your last name. I also like Christoper, Thomas and Anthony.

Oh gosh.. didn't think of the Burger King thing. There are so many things that can go wrong with the first initial B. BK, BM, BS, BO, BJ... oye. Heck even L would make him BLT!

I can't use my maiden name, the poor kid would sound like a Nazi :headache: Between DH's/my name and my maiden name.. yipes.

Oh yikes on the Lucan thing. I'm going to stay away from Michael, that's my mom's boyfriend-of-the-year's name. Yeah, I have her ex-bf in my wedding pictures, so I'm just not going there, lol.

Oy! I hear ya ~ I won't ever use Patty *my former step mom ;)

My son's name is Benjamin Taylor. We also considered Grant and Carter as middle names, but in the end, went with Taylor because that was my grandfather's name. We call him Ben, BT, BenTay, and Ben T for short.

Benjamin Thomas (as a PP said), or Benjamin Lucas (for George Lucas). :thumbsup2

My son's initials are PP. :scared1: Yes I thought about that but then I realized that he WILL be teased for something at some point so why not make is something that EVERYONE does.

A few I like (Benjamin was on my short list but my ex didn't care for it)

Garrett
Thomas
Lucas

Benjamin Taylor. That's kinda nice. I like that. :goodvibes

Benjamin Elijah

Benjamin Caleb

Benjamin Obi (a kid of homage to Kenobi without being overt)

Just say any name you pick out loud with the last name to see how it rolls of the tongue. Oh and gratz!

Thanks! :) 16 hours left!

DH liked/suggested Benjamin Obi. Then his initials would be BOT which would be cool, but then this afternoon I thought "oh god, he'd be B.O.!"
