Going on sunrise safari with my family. What was your favorite part of the safari? Anything about the actual safari you didn't like?

I'm sorry to ask, but what can you fill me in on the sunrise safari? Thanks!

Its been awhile, but our favorite part was being able to stop and photograph the animals and scenery. You can get shots you normally can't get due to time constraints and the somewhat rough nature of the ride.

you mean other than the brunch? I loved that we were out there so early and were able to see the animals at their most active. We saw a hippo out of the water walking around, which is pretty rare.

It was a very cool part of our stay at AKL!

One of my favorite parts of the Sunrise Safari is the close, one on one interaction you have with the animals. It's so peaceful and beautiful with the sun has just come up. You can truly take in all the beauty of the savannah that you miss during the ride. The animals are much more active. I couldn't believe how close they came to the vehicles. Below is a link to some of my pictures from our recent trip. There are several from the safari and you can tell how close we were. Our guides were so knowledgeable and what they showed us behind the scenes was very interesting. Our guides were also very funny with the stories they shared.

Now lets talk about the breakfast buffet. It truly is the best buffet on property. If you don't leave with your stomach hurting from eating too much than you didn't do it right;)

the sunrise safari is a special thing that only people who stay concierge at AKL get to go on, there is also an additional fee for this, but what i have heard about it,it is totally worth every dime.

ENJOY your trip and the sunrise safari.please post and let us know what you thought when you get back.

I keep reading post about the Sunrise Safari and don't think I can wait much longer until we are on our safari. We are booked for 2/8 :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

The trip was nice. Kind of ruins the regular safari for you. After the SS, unless it is walk on, I probably won't go on the regular ride very often.

The brunch was very nice. A few inique breakfast buffet items, a nice presentation, very good for sure.

The backstage viewing was also interesting. The stables, pens and animal buildings were cool.

The best part for me...we stopped the jeep to watch the giraffes, including a baby. The baby came up, and of tucked her head into the jeep, and stared right at me--I mean not a foot from my face--I can still remember how I could feel her warm breath on me!

-Perfect scruggs -

You have to stay in a concierge level room at the AKL. The sunrise safari can then be booked 90 days before you want to take it. And it's booked through concierge. there is an additional cost of $49 per person and $24 per person 3-11 years of age.

Hope that helps.

After the Sunrise Safari is over and you eat the breakfast, do you get to stay at the Animal Kingdom for the remainder of the day??

If so, do you have to use a day of your hopper ticket or is this included in the price?

We are planning on doing this if we decide to stay in concierge, and I'd like to know if it will take a day of our hopper passes!

Thanks for the help!
;) :D ,

You do stay in AK after the breakfast.

You do have to have park admission to atend. They actually scan your pass at the concierge desk before you leave.

You can stay in the park after - yes you do need admission as ducklite said.
They also give you a fastpass for Kilimanjaro to use after breakfast. It was nice because we finished just after park opening and it was nice to be at the back by Kilimanjaro with hardly anyone around.
Our favorite part was the interaction with animals - so active and close. Funny story - we did Kilimanjaro a few days before and DH thought most of the animals were "Disney Animated" (like Jungle Cruise) as the animals were not very active. (especially the hippo's and alligators) I had to ask the guide on Sunrise if in fact all the animals were real (they looked it to me, but DH had me convinced!). The guide kind of laughed and said that a lot of people ask the same question!
Enjoy the safari!

The ability to stop and get a better view of the animals is a great part of this tour. It was also very nice getting to stop and talk to the CMs about the animals they were responsible for caring for. We got some really nice pictures on this tour. My wife took one one of our daughters back and did the tour again.

I also like the brunch afterwards. We had a great time talking to the CM who was our guide about the methods they used to train the animals.

This is definitely the best tour at WDW.

Thanks everyone! Looks like we will have a great trip. One last question, Mornings are fairly col right now, how many layers have people been wearing to stay comfortable? Does it warm up quickly?

Seeing the animals was the best, but I really missed most of what the guides were saying because of my hearing loss. This upcoming trip I will have a sign language interpreter! I can't wait!Last time I did it I didn't know about the sign language interpreters and only saw them after the Safari when I went to watch Festival of the Lion King. WOW!

My daughter and I really enjoyed the sunrise safari...

I would have to say what I enjoyed the most was being treated like a VIP.. no lines, no waits, attentive CM's.... not feeling like cattle being prodded along... like you do sometimes at the parks.

It was a beautiful, peaceful morning.. many animals seen and great photo opportunites, 'insider info'

The breakfast was excellent as well and then when it was all over regular guests were just getting into the park.. it was like we had a head start.

If you have an opportunity to go on this safari... don't miss it! Remember you only live once...

I have some photos from our safari on my website link below.

daboss,

The morning we went it was only 32 degrees...burr. Fortunatley we had our winter coats with us. We definatley had lots of layers. We wore long sleeve t-shirts, sweatshirts, winter coats, hats and gloves. Don't forget to pack your gloves. We not only used them on the safari but also many evenings while we were in the parks and watching parades. After breakfast, as the day progressed it was easy to remove layers and still be comfortable. Have a wonderful trip:D

sorry, this doesn't exactly have anything to do with the topic of the posting, but I looked at your photos and was astounded by your view of the Magic Kingdom from your Contemporary bedroom! It reminded me of the dinner we had at California Grill 2 years ago, but it was nighttime when we saw that same exact view. What floor were you on, if on concierge, which floor is that? Thanks for the great pictures! Sorry for going off topic here...
