What was your ding fare in December?

I was wondering what you guys got for ding fares this December. WE are going back next Dec. 16-23 and I was wondering if there were any good fares especially out of Raleigh Durham. We got a ding fare of $29 each way this past November, flying the day after Thanksgiving. I am hoping for something like that again next year, but with it being so close to Christmas I didnt know if they had good dings or not. If anyone got one and could post I would appreciate it. Also, when did you book the fare? I believe we booked our Nov. airfare in September. Thanks

There is a thread in this forum that tracks the frequency of Dings available and for what cities. It does list some of the cost; Raleigh/Durham is a very popular city listed and I remember them being very good, something like <$50 one way. You may want to subscribe to that thread so you get notified when they are released later next year. You can browse through the thread and see what the prices they were offering.

I saw last minute DING fares in mid December for late Dec/Jan for $65-$85 round trip out of RDU...but availability for Dec. dates was scarce!

Same for us. In December, got $35 SWA fares from Albany to Orlando, non-stop. Got AP room rate $49 a night. How can you not go? Even got my brother and sister in law to come. They couldn't pass up the deal either.

For those of you who got the dings for Dec. flights, do you remember what month they came out or when you actually purchased? I am hoping to catch them as soon as they are posted. Im on this crazy computer constantly it feels like!!

When you get "dinged" you usually only have 24 to 48 hours to book and take advantage of the lower fares.

We didn't have any intention of going to Florida until next November BUT when you see fares like that we couldn't resist! DH officially retires today so it's great to be able to just pack and go!

DING from Indy to Orlando for $33 each way. We bought our original tickets in May (I think?) when the Dec. schedule first came out. In late September, we got the DING we'd been waiting for. We did have to change our travel day by one day, but it was no biggie to save $500. I have to say, though, I still obsessively watch the DING fares and haven't seen another fare that low since. I don't know if the rising cost of fuel is affecting the DING fares or what, but it seems to be that they are all a lot higher than they were 6-9 months ago.
