What was/is your wedding song?

Our first dance was "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters.

That was ours, too, Jeanne, back in 1971!

DH & I danced to "That's How Strong My Love Is" by Otis Redding.

My dad & I danced to "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.

The guy that did our wedding video did a "through the years" thing that had pictures of us & we had him play "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. That is such a great song. Also, at the end of our wedding video, he put together a short "music video" of different stuff from our wedding day & we had him play "They Love Each Other" by the Grateful Dead.

Ceremony music:
Processional: A bit of a Vivaldi lute concerto that was on the soundtrack of the movie "A Little Romance"
Recessional: "I Will" from the Beatles' White Album
First Dance: "On the Sunny Side of the Street" sung by Louis Armstrong (it's my favorite song, and the first two lines are part of my sig!)--Although "All I Want is You" by U2 would have been an awesome first dance song too.:D

1972--The Wedding Song by the guy in Peter Paul and Mary. Its such a nice song--We also had Let It Be and Never My Love. The songs were sung by a singer from my brothers band--

The last 5 weddings I have been to have played Pacabel Canon, Its very beautiful.

Way back in 1981, gosh it only seems like yesterday...........LOL
I walked down the isle to the Hawian Love Song by Captian and Tennile, then after the ceramony we walked back down the isle to We'v Only Just Begun by the Carpenters. Our first dance was by Peaches and Herb (but I don't remember the name and Thank God DH doesn't either)

Hey- that is the most original thing I have ever heard-- I can't remeber- how does it go? Is it instrumental?
PS: Our song is "(I'm gonna love you come) Rain Or Shine" by Ray Charles. 10 year Anniver. coming up Dec. 2004-- celebrating on Dis. Cruise!!!

We also had the Wedding Song. It's one of my favorites! Funny you should mention it, DH chose Canon in D, too.

At the reception, our first dance was to Your Song by Elton John. DH plays the guitar and had played it for me before our first date, so it had special meaning for us.

Ours was Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith. It will be 6 months tomorrow!

Cheap Mom-

Thanks - I was just 19 when I got married and fortunately was not too much into the really traditional wedding music, decor, etc. I'm glad we used something a little different. It was relative to the time and to our interests at the time.

The Twin Peaks theme is instrumental. If you really want to hear it, go to http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002LMM/002-8783246-6100853?v=glance .
I was just able to listen to a snippet of it there.

Krista :)

Our song was...umm, I'm kind of embarrassed by this now, but it was "When I See You Smile" by Bad English. How 80's is that? Yikes. DH and I laugh now whenever we hear it and think "What on earth we're we thinking?!" But our "new" song has become "Have I Told You Lately, That I Love You" by Rod Stewart. If we were doing it all over again, definitely wouldn't pick a song that would be out of date in a year...go w/ a classic!

Oh yeah, now I remember.
I loved that show.

rdrjj5, we also had Taylor Dayne's "I'll Always Love You"! We were really stuck for a song (we got married in 1994, the height of grunge music) and DFIL suggested it. DH HATED it, but I have always loved that song, so he said "fine!". He took a lot of crap for it right after the wedding, and sometimes if someone really wants to stick it to him, they'll mention it. I thought and still think that it's a beautiful song, the lyrics are perfect for a wedding song!

Our song was "Grow Old Along with Me" (I think that's the name), sung by Mary Chapin Carpenter. I think John Lennon wrote it.

Ours was "Wouldn't it be Nice" by the Beach Boys.
We were engaged for 4 years while DW finished school and dated for 1 year before that so it seemed like we waited forever. That was back in 1989 and it IS so nice!

I also walked down the aisle to Pachebel's Canon in D....and our recessional was Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Waltz..:earsgirl: we threw in small bits of Disney in our wedding as we were going to WDW on our honeymoon....the napkins had castles on them and we gave out Mickey lollipops as favors.

Our first dance was to True Companion by Marc Cohn (the guy that sings Walking in Memphis)

We also used Canon in D for our processional. Our recessional was to Lorie Line's arrangement of Ode to Joy. DH's sister, a soprano with an opera group, sang Ave Maria before our processional, and it was absolutely amazing.

ours was All I have by Beth Nielson Chapman 9 years ago
think Days of Our Lives in the 80's. I think it was Roman and Marlene's song too.

DH says we had two wedding songs because our song was "Still in Love with You" by Thin Lizzy and we danced to that also.

Ours was supposed to be "Grow Old with Me" by Mary Chapin Carpenter. However, our DJ didn't have that song, and one of my bridesmaids was responsible for bringing my cd. In the meantime, my MIL threw a raincoat on top of my bag with the cd in it, and it was forgotten at my mother's house. We ended up having "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic by Celine Dion. It still makes me sad that we didn't have "our" song. :(

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love

At Last by Etta James.

I wanted Thank You by Led Zeppelin, DH wanted Never My Love by The Association....We compromised and chose At Last.
