What valuables have you accidentally thrown away?

a while back when we were remodeling we bought a pricephister fauset and when it finally came time to do the bathroom it was nowhere to be found..to this day my dh says i threw it out with a box of other stuff...i also have those days when i get into cleaning out closets and throw all kinds of things away only to want them back on another day...

A $2000 diamond anniversary ring my DH gave me. :guilty:
Also few gift cards and a digital camera

Somehow over the last year my daughter and/or I have managed to throw away 75% of our silverware. It's ridiculous. We're down to one fork, two spoons, and three knivess.

I too threw away my high school ring. I'd put in the pocket of a pair of ratty jeans while I was operating power tools...the pants finally passed the line from "stylishly ratty" to "downright disgusting" and I tossed them...the ring was still in the pocket.

That ring was the first big purchase I'd ever made with money I earned myself.

Many moons ago I threw out the remote to my DH's new big screen Mitsubishi TV, the day after he got it. It was hiding in a stack of newspapers on the coffee table.

I've thrown away several gift certificates too.

A $200 refund check that I had to fight hard for! I felt so stupid for making such a big effort to get the refund that I dug through two bags of trash and finally found it!

my mom's old engagment ring that really didn't mean alot to her since after they broke up he told her he was gay :rolleyes1 I would have liked to at least have the diamond reset into something else... Oopsie!

My $40 birthday check from my grandma. Still havn't told her I lost it.

Also lost a garnet earring. The set was a gift from my parents for my Confirmation. Was so upset I lost it since it was a really pretty pair.

When my dd was about 5 we were at my dm's for Christmas and my ex put all the gifts she opened in a trash bag. Well my dm had a bonfire and someone grabbed that bag and threw it in. We found remnants of it later. The worst part is we didn't even want to be there because my dd was sick but my dm put a guilt trip on me. Since she was sick she hardly looked at her presents from my dm's family and then never saw them again.

Years ago when I was young and worked for **cough cough**Walmart, I had stock. When I got the certificates in the mail I didn't understand what the certificates were so I threw them in the trash  :scared1: It took me years to realize what I had done. I luckily got them replaced but it was a pain in the rump to get it done.

Haven't seen this one on here yet - our wedding photos, I think... :sad1:

They used to be in the bedroom closet but when we cleaned it a couple years ago they weren't there. I have no idea where they could be, unless in the upstairs "junk room" somewhere. We plan to clean that next month so hopefully we'll find them, otherwise...they're gone.

I think I may have accidentally thrown away my wife's graduate diploma. Whoops.

I threw away 400.00 in cash one day at work. I thought I had gotten the cash out before I threw away the envelope.

Our airline tickets for our honeymoon. They arrived right around Christmas and I think I threw them away with Christmas trash. This was back in 1999 and I wasn't comfortable with E-tickets. Silly me! Luckily it was pre-911 so we were able to get new ones without too much hassle.

My husband was on a major decluttering kick and he somehow tossed a box of Girl Scout badges, patches, pins, and awards worth over $200. :headache: We had to get them out of the trash - ugh!

I accidently threw out a priceless book thinking it was worthless. Wrong...

A box full of my childhood momentos. I don't even want to think about it.:guilty:

I saved for over 2 years to have enough money to go on our first trip to Disney in 1990. I was so happy because we were headed home and I still had $500 left in my pocket. Our vacation was over so we cleaned up the room and packed everything into the car to start our journey back to Maryland. Well, down the road about 5 hours later, I stopped to get gas. I looked everything and couldn't find the envelope with the $500. Apparently, when we cleaned up the room, somebody (probably me) threw away the envelope with the money. Thankfully, I had a little money in my wallet (and gasoline prices weren't what they are today). We managed to get home, but we were really strained in what we could spent on our journey.

It was a hard lesson to learn. Today, 18 years later, we travel with very little cash.

I threw away a gift certificate for a few hundred $$ a few years ago... luckily my father still had the garbage in the back of his truck and rummaged through to find it for me

I did the same thing about 10 years ago. It was right after Christmas and I had a ton of gift certificates...for restaurants, department stores, etc. All in all about $500 worth. By the time I realized what I'd done, it was too late and the garbage was already gone.
