General Star Wars Discussion

I am so excited for Spaceballs 2. And Rick Moranis is coming out of retirement for it!

So which gets made first - Spaceballs or Starfighter? Which do we think is more likely to happen? :D
oooh I did not Rick was coming back that will be awesome.

I wonder if Gad is taking over Barf.

Any others of the original cast returning?

I don't know where this ranks it compared to the previous SW projects on Disney+ but coming in #1 in for the finale episodes seems pretty good.

I need that sweatshirt now.
Yes! I know part of the deal Brooks made with Lucas when the first Spaceballs movie came out was no merchandise. However, I could see Brooks and the production team (not sure if that's the right term, but it's what I'm going with) asking if they could make merch this time around with quotes and logos, but no characters.

Yeah, the merchandise landscape has changed a lot since 1987. I am not so sure there is risk of anything being confused for Star Wars or somehow cutting into sales of SW merch. I wonder if that agreement is still valid after the Disney buy anyway.

I would think the agreement probably is still valid, if only because Disney would not want to have to renegotiate every single existing Star Wars deal or related contract, unless they wanted to for some reason. Even if they do have to renegotiate with Disney, I could understand Disney being super cautious about parody and wanting to protect the characters, but I could see them having less of an issue with things clearly branded as Spaceballs with the logo or quotes from the movie but without characters. They might reject a t-shirt with Yogurt's image on it, but they might not have a problem with a t-shirt that has a quote from Yogurt on it.

And that's fine. Take your time. They seem to have a difficult time nailing down a script for it.
there is plenty in the pipeline. I agree no need to rush it. Do it right.

Just a quick AI refresher of what is coming...

And as much as I love Rey, there are lots of fun characters to explore.

So, Andor picked up 14 Emmy nominations today:
  • OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION DESIGN FOR A NARRATIVE PERIOD OR FANTASY PROGRAM (One Hour or More)
  • OUTSTANDING CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A SERIES (One Hour) - Christophe Nuyens
  • OUTSTANDING FANTASY/SCI-FI COSTUMES
  • OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A DRAMA SERIES - Janus Metz
  • OUTSTANDING PICTURE EDITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES
  • OUTSTANDING MUSIC COMPOSITION FOR A SERIES (Original Dramatic Score) - Brandon Roberts
  • OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL MUSIC AND LYRICS - "We are the Ghor" - Nicholas Britell, Tony Gilroy
  • OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES - Forrest Whitaker
  • OUTSTANDING CHARACTER VOICE-OVER PERFORMANCE - Alan Tudyk
  • OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
  • OUTSTANDING SOUND EDITING FOR A COMEDY OR DRAMA SERIES (One Hour)
  • OUTSTANDING SOUND MIXING FOR A COMEDY OR DRAMA SERIES (One Hour)
  • OUTSTANDING SPECIAL VISUAL EFFECTS IN A SEASON OR A MOVIE
  • OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES - Dan Gilroy
That's a lot of respect! We'll see what they can win. I feel like they could pull down a lot of the technical ones - production design, cinematography, costumes, visual/sound effects. The others might be a hard sell with the competition, but you never know.

The lack of acting nominations is very disappointing especially given less than stellar seasons of The White Lotus and Severance hogged all the categories. Pedro Pascal getting a nomination for best actor only being in 3 episodes versus Diego Luna whose name is the reason for the show that was nominated for Best Drama is head scratching. Genevieve O'Reilly and Elizabeth Dulau not being nominated is criminal.

Or Stellan! Definitely Diego too. It did get robbed in the acting department.
