What type of studio to expect if renting points at VGF?

We are staying in a studio at VGF in mid-January with rented points. The well-known agency we rented through does not differentiate between any type of studio, you just request “studio”. So, is it possible we will get any of a number of different studio types/views and it’s just luck of the draw? Or do they just assign you a plain old standard view studio (like the least popular/desired) room and save the other, nicer ones to folks paying closer to rack rates who book through Disney rather than renting points?

If it’s possible we could get a room type other than standard, do you have suggestions for which studio rooms/types to request?

This is a special trip for us, celebrating an important anniversary, so I’d like it to be as special as possible! Thank you for any tips!

Each VGF studio type is a different booking category for DVC members and require a different number of points. Both the "resort studio standard view" and "deluxe studio standard view" are the same number of points per night.
The "deluxe studio lake view" and "resort studio Lagoon view" require the same number of points but more than the standard views.. And the "resort studio theme park view" takes even more points. Deluxe studios are in a different building than the resort studios. Your reservation should show which category you have reserved for you in your MDE account.

FWIW, rooms are not assigned based on whether you paid cash or used DVC points. Since your reservation used DVC points, you cannot get a theme park view studio if your reservation was made for a standard view. Those kinds of upgrades only happen for DVC reservations in rare occasions, such as rooms taken out of inventory due to unplanned maintenance. Even then, the room would need to be available.

And asking for an upgrade at check in can result in the owner having extra points pulled from their account to cover your "upgrade".

As noted, the type of room that was booked for you will be clear on your MDE.

If it is not, the contract should say. If it doesn’t, I’d ask them to confirm what you rented because DVC villas are all booking categories so one chooses at the time of booking.

To add, there is even a difference between a deluxe studio and a resort studio. The resort studio is in the Big Pine Key building, has two queen beds, daybed couch, no kitchenette, only a micro, coffee maker and beverage cooler.

It also has a regular bathroom too. The deluxe studio is in the original DVC building, has a split bath, a kitchenette, a queen bed, a queen pull down Murphy bed, and a twin Murphy bed under the TV.

Which type will also be listed for you.
