what traditions do you have to help remember your deceased parent on Christmas?

My Mom has been gone 7 years on the 17th of this month, I have a special pin that I only wear on Christmas eve and Christmas day that keeps her "physically" with me. Mom loved CHristmas greatly...drove Dad crazy she would play Christmas music in October when she could LOL. So in December I play christmas music every chance I get. I also have an have started an Angel collection, every year I buy her an Angel...one year I cross stitched an Indian angel (she was cherokee) , the next year I bought an Angel candle holder, I have an Angel ornament...and so on. Like everyone else here, I miss her alot she was only 41, and she lived with Dh and me from the day we married until she died of cancer.
I love the idea of the star, what a great thought wish this would have been mentioned a few weeks ago, I would have done that for my boss who just lost her father.

Dad is gone 11 years now and Mom 8. I have a few Christmas pins from Mom that I enjoy. And a special thing to me is an ornament. When I was a kid, Dad took a small box from a tie tack and filled it with quarters. Then we wrapped it in pretty Christmas paper and hung it on the tree. I leave that little gift around all the time and think of him whenever I see it. That's the most precious ornament that will be on my tree.

Not a parent, but a special aunt who passed away on her birthday, Christmas Day. I kept the last Christmas card she sent me-I received it just a few days before she died. Every year it goes on the Christmas tree, right underneath the angel.

Hadn't really thought about it until now.

I lost my Father and Mother both this year (4 months apart - to the minute- July 4th and November 4th ). We always went to their house for Christmas Eve (our house for Christmas Day), so this year we invited some good friends to our house Christmas Eve, and are going to my close cousing on Christmas Day.

I'm glad I read this post - in our attempt (very healthy, I think) to come up withh new traditions, we need to find a way to keep them part of our Christmas.

I don't have the answer just now, but I'm going to start to come up with it.

Thanks. Great post.
