What to make for Christmas Morning Breakfast

Mrs Clause has always left breakfast for us!!!;) She leaves homemade cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate and spiced oatmeal (left over from the reindeer's oatmeal as the story goes) She leaves it on the counter-the oatmeal hot in the crock pot, the rolls rising and the cocoa made on a carafe (we think she makes it when she turns on the tree lights.:santa:

How do you make the breakfast lasagna?

There are so many good things it will be hard to decide:santa:

Crystal Palace Breakfast Lasagna

(6 servings)

Make the pastry cream first

1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

6 egg yolks

1-1/2 cups milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup sugar

In a 2 quart saucepan, combine sugar, flour, salt and milk over medium heat

and cook stirring until mixture thickens. In a small bowl with a fork, beat

egg yolks slightly, beat small amount of milk mixture into yolks. Slowly pour

egg mixture back into milk mixture. Stirring constantly, cook over medium low

heat until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Chill cream until ready to use.

Assembly:

6 pancakes

6 waffles

1 pound of strawberries

8 ounces of blueberries

Put a thin layer of Pastry cream in a pan, make a layer of waffles, put a

layer of pastry cream. Cut strawberries into slices. Take half the

strawberries and half the blueberries and make a layer of fruit. Top the

fruit with a layer of pancakes, then layer of pastry cream. Garnish the

lasagna with the rest of the strawberries and blueberries.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.

I put it all together the evening before and put it in the fridge overnight. Just pop it in the oven while we are opening presents.

My boys wake up to a picnic breakfast waiting on them upstairs. It is usually donuts holes in many flavors and a small cooler with milk. Cups and plates are on a blanket and hopefully there will be coffee waiting on DH and I.:coffee:

We started this a few years ago to keep the boys away from the tree, while DH and I wake up a bit and I manage to make myself looking good enough to be in a picture or 2

We always go to my parent's in the am after we open presents at are house ( they live 5 minutes away) my mom makes homemade sticky buns just like my grandma did when she was alive. We always wait to eat at her house because we love the sticky buns.

I usually make a casserole consisted of some hashbrowns, sausage, eggs, cheese etc. Pretty much whatever I have the night before, and throw it in the oven while opening presents. I would love to have a better recipe!!!! So, keep coming mates!

The kids are always too excited to eat in the morning so I always make Pilsbury cinnamon rolls, quick and easy, so they can just grab it, in addition to the candy in their stockings, of course :) .

Hey! That is our house - Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and Santa candy! I tried doing the fancy breakfast but nobody cared so I went easy and we are all happy :)

I had a recipe somewhere for a french toast casserole. I make it the night before with a loaf of french bread so the bread can soak up the egg. It is then cooked in the am I wish I could find it. It is delicious! other then that- I normally do eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, toast for whoever may come on over!

traditionally, we do a chili reano casserol, ham and green onion quiche, bacon, cheddar, and picante quiche, biscuits, orange rolls, and cinnamon rolls.

all can be pre-assembled the night before and thrown in the oven the next morning. only problem is that they need different temp ovens. it is a problem with getting everything ready on time every year.

my sister is bringing her in-laws this year (it will make 20 of us at my mom's on Christmas morn) so we are looking for easy, filling and fast. so love this thread. great ideas.

We have Bubblebread.

what is bubblebread?

At our house, DH and the kids want cinnamon buns and turkey bacon. Weird, but relatively easy. We don't usually eat meat so the bacon is a big treat. My oldest hasn't figured out that it's meat yet :confused3

EGGS BENEDICT!!

I make it once a year on Christmas morning and everyone looks forward to it all year!!

Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls here too...Believe it or not, those are my FAVORITE cinnamon rolls in all the world. I'd take them over Cinnabons in a heartbeat...but you've got to put them in a smaller pan so they stay squishy on the sides...My mom always used a round pan and my brother and I would fight over the middle one!

I might make some blueberry muffins the day before as well...I'm certain we'll also have some leftover pumpkin bread too.

We skip the candy..I'm MEAN!

My Mom always makes Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, and this was about the only day of the year that she made breakfast!

I have a suggestion that I have made a few times. I guess you could call it a breakfast loaf.

1 Pillsbury French Bread Loaf
1 pound Sausage
6 eggs

Brown the sausage
Scramble and cook the eggs
Unroll the loaf into a large rectangle

Put the sausage and eggs onto the bread, then roll into a loaf. ( make sure you tuck in the sides )
Bake per the instructions on the bread package.

You could also add cheese or substute crumbled bacon for the sausage.

Good Luck and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Well, we do something a little different in our house.
We have birthday cake for breakfast on Christmas morning.
We have a birthday cake and sing "happy birthday" to Jesus and the kids can have a great big slice of cake. Of course, this is a Christmas day ONLY treat.
It started back when dh and I were engaged. He came up with the idea and showed up on my doorstep at 7am Christmas morning with a chocolate cake he had gone home and made after midnight mass the night before.
We have done this ever since. It's a special treat for the kids and a nice way to be reminded of the reason for the celebration.

Pillsbury cinnamon rolls !!! :rotfl: :rotfl: I thought I was the only one doing this on Christmas morning !! Glad to hear I'm not a bad parent.

Saw the monkey bread recipe and I think I will try that this year. Having my parents and sisters family over about noon time. Just having light meal for lunch/dinner.

Question, if breakfast/lunch is called "Brunch", what is lunch/dinner called?? :confused3 :lmao:

I have the inlaws over for presents & brunch every christmas morning. I make caramel french toast and amish breakfast casserole. MIL brings bagels and we have a great meal. Since I cook the night before and then throw it in the oven there is little clean up.

grits casserole

has grits, eggs, cheese, and sausage

so easy and delicious!!!

I've also started making monkey bread - a PP posted a ink to a better recipe than the one I have, so I'm trying that one this year!

We have bagels & cream cheese. I may try the monkey bread this year! The kids are up soooooo early and DM comes around 8am then DMIL around 10am...the rest of the family (about 25) come throughout the day. I need quick and easy, my oven is always over flowing on Christmas morning!!!

My family loves these. I take two crescent rolls, they form a rectangle. I lay in a piece of cheese, some crumbled bacon, and 1/2 of a hard boiled egg in them. Crimp it together like a pop-over. Cook by the directions on the crescent roll package. We call them Scottish Bundles.

I make these the night before and cook them in the morning. I serve coconut cake, oj, cocoa, coffee and tea with them.
