So how do all of you cope with the downtime between Disney trips? We were there the third week of January, and here I am three and a half months later already jonesin for another trip.
Our 2 older kids told us on our last trip that it was getting stale and boring going to Disney World every two years. They’re entitled to their own opinion, I just can’t relate because all through my teens, 20’s 30’s and 40’s I have never been bored there and we’ve always averaged a trip every 2 years. Personally I could handle a 5 day trip about every six months if I could afford it. I don’t even need rides. Just riding around in the Magic Kingdom for an entire day just people watching and listening to the crowds is so enjoyable to me.
So back to my original thought, what to do while longing to be there that won’t make me even more home sick for the happiest place on earth? I’ll begin by trying to plan a more exciting WDW trip for the older ones that doesn’t cost me an additional fortune on top of the tickets and airfare.

i see you're in Chicago so a suggestion from a SoCal resident wont help. I'll tell you anyways: Go to Disneyland a few times a month like i do!!!!

Good luck with getting your Disney fix!

Move to Fla!
Live one hour from the mouse house and take trips as often as we can even for a few hours at DTD.

You could always go to Schaumburg and visit the Doorway to Dreams there -- or even the DVC cart they have at Orland Square.

Buy more points, plot a way that you can leave your kids at home, and plan an annual trip to WDW or DL without them! :thumbsup2

They can go to camp and you can go to WDW each year

We complement our Disney trips with camping in the summer and cruising in the winter.

For you living near Chicago I suggest 6 Flags at Gurney IL for the rides, Wisconsin Dells for water parks and Door County WI for sod roofed building like at Norway in the World Showcase.

Hi donkortajr I see we are not only neighbors at BLT but we seem to be actual neighbors at home, as you are in the SW Burbs of Chicago and I am Tinley Park, so :wave2:

I understand what you are saying, we generally go to Disney once a year either WDW or DLR, this year we are going to WDW twice but I am home sick as you say in between our visits. Luckily I have lots of planning for this year so I have been able to channel my Disney energy into that. :)

However for the most part I would say I spend too much time on the internet!! I read the Dis a lot more than I post. Love to read just about anything and everything about Disney. As well I love all the other sites with lots of Disney information, All Ears being a particular favorite. However there are many to choose from and all offer lots of great and fun information to keep your Disney fix going pretty well.

If you happen to know someone who is also a true Disney fan engage them in e-mails and conversations. I have couple of other friends who own DVC and another friend who recently "found" Disney and loves to chat with me. I also have a cousin who is my go to person for any random Disney thoughts or questions that may come up. Both us are DVC owners and long time Disney Fans and we e-mail regularly.

There are also some great books out there that will give you great Disney tid bits and also keep the time filled in between trips.

Unfortunately none of it is truly a "cure", but at least here you have found other people who know exactly what you are talking about! ;)

Hope you can go back sooner than later! :goodvibes
