What Time is the 4 o'clock Rain? -- Updates 11/2-4 -- Tim's surprise and Marco&Recap

Kathy,

I managed to log in this morning early and then read up in between running reports. The only nice thing to being behind is catching up all at once.

I'm going to comment backward to say that I will keep your entire family in my prayers - between your brother's surgery and now worrying about Mark's job you have your heart full right now. How great that you were able to spend sometime with the newly weds to keep the cheery part there too. I hope that Mark is able to find something else while he finishes out this year. (and wondering just how much of a coincidence is it that the company pushes out long term, older employees as they approach the retirement window???:()

But on to brighter topics:lovestruc

It was fun to see your airport photos with the Blue brothers again - did you post them on FB? seems I remember seeing them & thinking how much Joe would enjoy them.

How exactly did you score yet another Castle dinner adr? do you get up at the crack of dawn to call in? (LOL I nearly scored one just now but by the time I logged back in to lock in the reservation, it was gone!:badpc:) The grey stuff looks yummy. I have to ask - is the Ballroom noisy at dinner time? When we went at lunch, I found that because its designed like a big ballroom, the sound all echoed everywhere and made it very noisy. Was it like that at dinner?

Love your Tigger tattoo :) I always want to get one while I am there, but never seem to be able to slow down long enough to stop.

Its a shame your Sci Fi Dine In dinner was nasty, but how nice of the server to take it off of your bill. and you did have those yummy onion rings. that's a vegetable, right? LOL

All of your pictures are so much fun Kathy - clearly you & Mark had a great time. Love the early morning MK photo of you two kissing with the castle in the background. :lovestruc

Was Adventureland quiet that you had such great interactions with Jasmine & Aladdin? looked like you were having quite a conversation.

The Liberty Tree Tavern lunch looks sooo yummy. you are making me want to work it into my October trip. hmmm i'll have to review the schedule yet again! No wonder I can't get my planner done, I keep changing the plans:rotfl2:

Hopefully it won't take me so long to check back in. So glad you give FB updates too or I'd be lost. As it is I spend all day :surfweb: but most of it is for work. sigh.

Kathy - I am thinking of you and sending prayers your way over the next few days...

I know this may sound awful - but I am a firm believer of "when God closes a door, he always opens a window" - I pray this is true in the situation with Marks job and things iron themselves out as they should to be bigger and better than they were before.

Sending prayers for your family today and tomorrow - I've been thinking of you all lots these last few days. (((Hugs)))

D~

Kathy - Just wanted to say that I hope your brother's heart procedure goes well tomorrow. You may remember that my mom had a very serious heart surgery 2 1/2 years ago, and was released from rehab just days before we left for our May 2011 Disney trip to CSR (I think you were still keeping up with the CSR thread back then). Anyway, she's doing pretty well and just celebrated another birthday. I will keep your brother in my prayers.

Also, I hate to hear that about Mark's job. What a terrible thing to do to him. :( I just can't imagine how they can stop paying him for the rest of the year - sounds illegal, to me. Hugs to you guys!

Praying for your Brother's procedure tomorrow!! I m also very sorry about Mark's job. I agree with D about closing doors and opening windows. I will continue to pray for new opportunities for Mark (maybe in Florida) :)

ENABLER!!! :rotfl2:

Hey, I don't want to feel all alone...I've changed our December ADR's so many times I don't know if I'm coming or going. :rotfl2:

What a GREAT day at MK! We have only been to LTT once and we did really enjoy it.... I don't know why I never think to go back...maybe on our next trip!

It really was a great day; we really enjoyed our lunch at LTT.

Where is that meet and greet in New Fantasyland! I MUST DO IT!! :hyper:

If you go to the outside of the Big Tent with the gift shop (right hand side), there is another tent and that is where they are.

The view from your room at OKW looks almost identical to ours! I wonder if your room is directly about the one we stayed in?

I bet you it was. :)

Wow, finally all caught up!!! Only took a few hours, and I skipped most of the banter!!!! :scared1:

It's okay to skip the banter...I often do the same thing on the other threads I read.

As usual Mark did a great job with all the hats!!! I especially liked the Goofy hat picture!!!

Of course the Goofy hat would be your favorite.

I need to get back to CP for breakfast sometime! It is one of my favorites for the food AND the character interactions. :goodvibes

Get going then!

Your scallops looked wonderful! Never been to Rose and Crown (other than the fish and chips at the CS) but you have certainly helped me move it up the list!

It is definitely back in our top five.

You guys put up with some really long lines at times, but I know August can be that way quite often. But a walk on for Dumbo??? :woohoo:

We had various mojo with the lines...good and then bad (I think if we had gone a week or ten days later, we would have had no problems at all.

Mark's meal looks so yummy! I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but that cake does look like it was tasty. And how sweet of them to do that for your anniversary.

He really enjoyed it except for the stuffing (and that is probably because he is spoiled by mine which is Nicki's receipe). The cake was heaven...loved it.

That view from your patio is absolutely gorgeous!

It was a really pretty view; just wish we could have spent more time out there WITHOUT rain.

The cake did look like heaven on a plate!

It was. :)

Nice peaceful photos from your balcony.

I liked the view...it was very peaceful.

Awesome DisMeet! I will be heading down to MSI when the Disney Archives arrive! I think we should plan a big DisMeet for that. :thumbsup2

We will definitely have to try to coordinate a date.

Museum of Science and Industry and Harry Caray's, nice! :thumbsup2

It was a great day with the kids and we had a lot of fun.

Haven't been to Liberty Tree for lunch before, we always end up going for dinner. I've been dying to try the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.

We avoid dinner because I am not a big "Thanksgiving dinner" person. Mark ahd the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake back in 2007 or 2008 and he enjoyed it.

Great update!

Thanks, D.

The newlyweds are so adorable!!! Ahhh... I remember those early years - so sweet!

Yes they are...it makes me feel good to see them so happy.

YAY!!! So happy you ate at LTT - it's one of our favorite lunches! I am shocked you didn't get the Freedom Pasta though, since I've been drooling over it publically for years. Maybe next time?

After the disaster with the pasta at Sci Fi, I wasn't taking any chances. ;)

Ahhh - to be able to take a nap in Disney - that is the best! And OKW looks so relaxing!

Mark was really tired that day and really needed that nap. OKW is very relaxing and why we love it so much.

And super exciting to do a Dismeet!!! I LOVE Dismeets!

I love DISmeets too. :)

Great update Kathy! I hope you have a fanatastic week!

D~

Thanks, D.

Great updates

Thank you, Linda.

Lovely family pictures :)

:goodvibes...they are kind of cute if I do say so myself.

We are trying LTT for the first time in December and hoping to stay at OKW next June so I am loving your photos!

I hope you enjoy LTT as much as us, and I really hope you get to stay at OKW in June (we'll be there in June too!).

Looks like you had a great weekend Kathy. Always good to see those kids!!

Thanks, Doreen. It was a lovely weekend and always enjoy spending time with my kids.

A few weeks ago we decided to get tickets for the Halloween Party on Oct. 6th. So we had to cancel an ADR & I was trying to find one in MK for that night. Could not get Plaza & did not want Tony's so I tried Liberty Tree Tavern & got one for 5:20. We have NEVER eaten there so I was thrilled to see your update.

The menu is totally different at dinner; it's family style turkey dinner.

Those glasses are so cute! So cool they gave them to you. Maybe I'll stick an anniversary pin on.;) JUST KIDDING!!:)

Hey, why not? ;)

Too funny about Mark on Splash not wanting to get his hat wet!!!:rotfl:

He didn't want to get his hat or himself wet.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

So nice you got to spend time with the newlyweds. I love LTT and we are having dinner there the night we do MVMCP, Dec 3. OKW looks beautiful.

It was a short visit, but a fun one. OKW really is beautiful...and so peaceful.

All caught up again finally with you Kathy Lovely pictures of the newlyweds and you and Mark I have never stayed at OKW but may do so in the future as your pictures are convincing me more & more of how peaceful it looks there ( still that no elevator thing lingers in the back of my head so we'll see)

Thank you, Ruthie. I would request a first floro is all.

I haven't eaten at LTT in a long time but I used to always order what Mark did, seems appropriate with the whole theme, too bad about the stuffing It was always a favorite of mine Nice the way they gave you the Declaration of the Anniversary :goodvibes

He couldn't pinpoint what he didn't like about the stuffing, but it definitely was not to his liking. It was very sweet of them to give us the Declaration.

Great update! :goodvibes

Thank you. :)

WHOA! this is a HUGE UPDATE!

Oh, it wasn't that huge.

Oh where to begin... Oh.. happy dance on science and industry! love love love that museum! best photography EVER! Never ate at Harry.. was it good? surprise you didn't wear a Sox shirt! BUT TOTALLY SUPPORTING DA BEARS!!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
what's that??? a BEAR ROAR FOR THE WIN!!!!

We'd not been to that Museum since the kids were around 6 and 8...so it's been a long time; lots of changes. We've already discussed the SOX shirt! :rotfl:

Ok Back to the trip... OMG you got a TON DONE! you all have me so so confused where to eat anymore..

You have to pick what you like for eating; but I'll be glad to give you ideas if you need them.

I LOVE Mark and his HATS! do you ever buy any of them???

Nope, haven't bought one in years.

:lmao: thanks for the childhood memories there was a baseball battle of the brothers ( dear Dad & his brother my Uncle) all of us Brooklyn Born ( after the initial SHOCK of the Brooklyn Dodgers becoming the LA Dodgers...think no one ever got over that betrayal ! ) eventually moving to Queens NY...yeah you see where this is going Mets vs Yankees..you didn't want to be ANYWHERE near those 2 when there was a Subway Series.you better remember to wear the "right" shirt depending on which home you were visiting ..:rotfl: God I miss them  FUN times

Yes, between Chicago and New York, there can be some rough times when it's baseball or football season. To top things off, our youngest son is a diehard Green Bay Packer fan. I swear we dropped him on his head when he was born. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

It was wonderful finally meeting you, Kathy! We must meet up again soon, the hour passed too quickly. Thanks for the frap...I'm glad she found the chocolate chips! :)

Thanks, Starr...I feel the same. I'm glad they found your chips too.

LTT looks so yummy but boo on the bad stuffing, I love stuffing and would have been quite upset if it was gross! I need that chocolate cake, oh my word! yum!

Stuffing is about the only part of Thanksgiving dinner that I like (well, except the mashed potatos). I could go for that chocolate cake right now.

Of course it was at Starbucks... :rolleyes1

I'm sure you never even thought I'd go somewhere else. :rotfl2:

Love Liberty Tree, but I like the dinner better!

We have never done dinner.

But they don't offer that dessert at dinner... Hmmm... might just have to make this a lunch stop sometime soon. I'm a sucker for some chocolate cake and ice cream. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Chocolate and I don't always get along these days, but that cake didn't bother me in the least.

Cool!!! I've seen that a few times since our trip. I know it is just one of those "extra magic" things, but I'm kind of disappointed my mom and dad didn't get that when we went there for their anniversary dinner on our trip.

Did you have their anniversary on your ADR or did they have buttons on?

I hope so! That's what some nap time at the resort is for! :thumbsup2

We shall see if we were able to or not in the next update.

WHAT????

How did i NOT KNOW THIS?!?!?!

ugh.. I am liking Andy's girlfriend more and more... ::yes::

LOVE YA........................................................... Mean it.

You can have her if you want! :rotfl: Okay, that's not fair of me (she's actually growing on me).

Love you too!

Great pictures of your time with the newlyweds!

Thank you, Lisa.

Why is it that I always look at pictures of delicious looking food right before my lunch hour? I'm not a fan of stuffing no matter where it comes from so I'd probably agree with Mark. How neat that you were honored with an anniversary gift from Liberty Tree.

I do the same on everyone else's TR's I follow. I do like stuffing, but only when I make it.

I've been keeping up, but unable to respond. So, I just want to say, everything sounds amazing. (except the stuffing of course. ;) ). Happy you got a dismeet in & got to see the Newlyweds. Although, you & Mark appear to be newly weds yourself with those huge smiles in t he photos. LOVE IT!!

I'm glad you are keeping up, and please don't worry if you can't respond...I do understand. It was a short visit, but we see them up at their home in two weeks to meet the grandpuppy. Gee, thanks...sometimes it is hard to beleive we've been married 30 years.

We had kept away from LTT a few trips also, but enjoyed our dinner food this past trip. I've never done lunch there but am tempted looking at that chocolate cake. That was the one thing we were disappointed with for dinner. The dessert.

I hope you try lunch on one of your next visits; they had a pretty good menu.

Looking forward to more updates. popcorn::

I think I should get one up tonight.

What a great first day in the MK!

Thanks, Nory.

I am pretty much in a constant state of craving the fries at LTT. I don't know why, but they are pretty much my favorite fries ever. I am currently eating a dumb salmon/quinoa salad thing. I would so much rather be eating a LTT burger and fries!

Those fries were really good (I do give the edge to the Plaza though). I hate to say it, but that salad doesn't sound very good at all. :rotfl2:

very nice of them to give you the glasses, it helped you not have to put them i your purse before you left.
:thumbsup2

Dan, you are too funny.

i do enjoy a good logo mug from places we visit

Andy has a bunch of beer mugs from places he has been (I think they somehow end up in Des' purse).

I always say I'm gonna try at least Splash and Thunder Mountain but then I always chicken out when I get there :lmao:

I think you WILL do it the next time...I have faith in you.

We learned how to make them in school at one point that's the only reason I know :)

I'll have to try to make them for Mark.

I love the mug from Liberty tree tavern was going to ask can you keep them :lmao:

No, I don't think you can normally keep them (unless as Dan said earlier it just happened to end up in my bag).

I'll finish up replies tonight and hopefully an update too. Time for me to close up and hit the road to the train.

Kathy

I extend my thoughts and prayers for your brother this Wednesday As to the situation with Mark , Fred & I have been through financial crisis since the end of Jan when I had my accident and the money coming in from me came to a screeching halt, I promise you, keep the faith things will work out We are coming out on top again and things will work for you, there is always a plan & a way :flower3:

Ruthie

Thank you, Ruthie. We are praying this will help him. I appreciate your good wishes for Mark and our situation.

Oh no Kathy, I'm so very sorry! Sounds like you guys are right, they are hoping he will quit on them. I hope you both can figure something out. Looks like we both are needing to start looking at a Florida move sooner than expected! And good thoughts for your brother too.

Thanks, Stephanie. It just blows my mind that people can be like this. He won't quit and will wait to see if they fire him. And trust me, I work for one of the largest law firms in the country, and we will be pursuing whether or not to sue them for age discrimination.

Big hugs to you both. P&PD as you go through this tough time. Something better is just around the corner.

Jill in CO

Thank you, Jill...I appreciate it.

Kathy, that's really terrible. The things people are doing in business now is crazy if you ask me. I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, Danielle...it means a lot.

I am so sorry Kathy. This all just stinks. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, Tammy. We appreciate it.

Oh, (((Kathy))).... I am horrified by what is being done to Mark. Not pay someone for the rest of year is outrageous ...but then to know it is likely a way of getting him out....well, I cannot say what I am thinking. I am so very sorry.

Thank you, Christine. I feel the exact same way.

Praying there is an unexpected change of heart ....if not, then I pray Mark receives a good severence pkg. My heart is aching for you both. (Michael lost the job he was recruited for - and why they moved here - when the office closed 4 years ago and we have been trapped here ever since. The move here was intended to to be temporary).

We will see what happens at the end of the year. Financially, we will be fine for now. I remember you telling me that about Michael...I'm so sorry.

Will be holding you all so very near in my heart and prayer...especially your brother and the medical team caring for him. I hope you can feel our love surrounding you, my friend. :grouphug:

Thank you.

Kathy I am so sorry for what is happening to Mark. I can't believe they would expect him to work for three months and not get paid. Perhaps it is time for a change or a move to Florida! My prayers and thoughts are with you as you deal with this. Mark seems like such a great guy and this seems so unfair.

I don't understand it all, but it has to do with his budgeted sales, his salary/commission. It would be lovely to move to Florida now, but it creates a lot of issues with my boss who I promised I would wait the three years to leave (I've been with him 38 years).

Prayers for your brother also.

Thank you.

So sorry Kathy! Prayers and hugs your way!

Thank you so much. I am very grateful.

Prayers for your brother. Prayers that something wonderful is just around the corner for Mark. And prayers that you find inner peace to help you through all of this.

Dee, thank you for all. I know we will be fine and this might just be a blessing.

Kathy, I had to read this twice in order to be sure I understood it right. Hugs and prayers while you go through this difficult time.
I cannot believe they are expecting Mark to work for three more months without pay. :scared1: No wonder you are worried about what lies ahead. Lots of pixie dust for all three of you!

Thank you, Karin. I had to have my husband repeat it to me twice so I was sure I was hearing him right.

Oh No.
Kathy i am so very sorry to hear this. please know your always in my thoughts and prayers.

need anything please let me know.

Thanks, Mo. I know you are a phone call away and trust me if I need to, I will call you.

Thinking of you, your brother and Mark. Enough already...you have had enough :(

Way to go Kathy, I myself can't stand the White Sox and absolutely dispised Ozzie Guillén when he was the manager. I can relate to the long suffering Cubs fan... afterall I am a lifetime Cleveland Indians fan.:lmao: I should add I'm the same way with anyone wearing a Steelers or Ravens shirt, They don't get past the garage in my house. :rotfl2:

I have my own reasons for hating the White Sox, but Ozzie was a piece of work. There was a loud round of cheers when he left. And, Bob, let me just say that we had a lot of fun watching our team beat up the Steelers Sunday night. :)

I am so sorry to hear this about Mark. I hate when young execs in so many of these companies make these "text book" decisions to eliminate those who have given their lives for years to help make the company successful and now feel it's time to put them out to pasture. I'm praying for you and Mark that this all works out for you two. Your brother is in my prayers as well. ;)

These are not young execs. There are two co-owners of the company, one is older than Mark and one is about my age. It infuriates me on many levels, but I'm not going to go into it now. Thanks for the prayers for my brother (he's a Bob).

Thinking of you and your loved ones Kathy.
The whole situation just stinks. I certainly hope there is a better solution and I hope you and Mark are able to make the best decision for you.
Maybe the silver lining is that move you were anticipating : )

Pat, thank you so very much. It does stink and we will figure something out.

Sorry to hear this. That isn't good news at all. Hopefully things will turn around for you guys soon!

Thanks, Andy. As I said earlier in a response, we'll be okay. Ifit gets really bad, we can take a little money out of Mark's 401 (since he is 60 there is no penalty, just the taxes).

But on the other hand... maybe it is time to start checking the real estate market in Florida? :rolleyes1

Trust me, we have thought about it and will continue to exploreo it after we see what happens later this year.

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about Mark's job situation, that is really terrible.

Thank you my friend.

Keeping your brother in my thoughts for tomorrow's procedure.

Thanks...appreciate it; we need all the prayers we can get.

so sorry to hear about Mark's job  you definitely don't need this on top of everything else going on.

Thank you, Lisa. It's not been the best week around here.

sending extra prayers and pixie dust for your brother's procedure tomorrow

Thank you for the prayers.

happy you had a fun weekend with the kids, hope it lifted your spirits!

They made us laugh and smile...and that is always good.

what a nice bit of pixie dust from lunch!

It was very sweet of them.

Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear about Mark's job situation. I, too, believe that they are wanting Mark to just quit. They can't possibly expect someone to work for free for the remainder of the year.

It's all too complicated for me. The good news, if there is any, is that they are going to continue to pay his insurance.

Do you think that now is the time to make that move to Florida? God does have a plan, you know.

If it weren't for my boss, I'd be on the first plane looking for jobs for both of us.

Praying for the job situation and for your brother!

Thank you for the prayers.

So sorry to hear about the job situation.

My question is, does he get a commission, and is it just the salary part they are cutting out? (other wise it seems a bit illegal...)

Nnini

It's complicated. He's on a predicted "budget" amount for sales; his salary is for that budget; if he goes over sales for his budget, he gets a commission. I still don't understand it, but it's been that way for years.

Hi Kathy,
So sorry to hear about Mark's job. That really stinks. My dad had the opposite happen to him. He was the best salesman of the year, and the company he worked for for 17 years layed him off. It is such a tough situation and sounds like age discrimination to me. There is a silver lining somewhere and when you find it hind sight will be 20/20 and you will all be happier. I fully believe this. Try and stay positive. Better things are on the horizon!

Thank you so much for this...it means a lot.

Good job on the DISmeet!:thumbsup2

It was fun and we were trying for months to set it up.

Sounds like a great day! We love the MSI.

It's been years since we'd been there and we could have spent more hours than we did.

Ooh, that looks yummy.

Some of the best fried cheese I've had.

Very cool! Gotta love the pixie dust. And the free souvenir.

It was really great.

Even I can't do that! :rotfl2:

And just think I've got several years on you.

Ugh. That's awful. I'm so sorry to hear that and that you are dealing with so much stress. Hope you guys can figure out the proper path forward.

Thanks, Mark. It's been a rough couple weeks with my brother and then having this added on.

(((Hugs)))

D~

Thanks, D. I believe that too...and I hope it works that way for us. You are a good friend.

Congrats to your mom...I'm so glad she is doing well. I'm sorry I've not been on the CSR thread; since we don't stay there any longer and I'm out of the loop on it, it's hard to give opinions. Thanks for the prayers for my brother and the well wishes for Mark.

Praying for your Brother's procedure tomorrow!! I m also very sorry about Mark's job. I agree with D about closing doors and opening windows. I will continue to pray for new opportunities for Mark (maybe in Florida) :)

My dear friend, thank you so very much. I'll try to text you after it's over and maybe you can post an update here for me. You know how much we'd love that new opportunity to be in Florida.

Before I get on with our evening, I forgot this was in our room when we returned for our rest:

Okay...here we go with a short update (I'll try to get one done tomorrow while at the hospital with my brother).

So I left you with us going back to OKW where Mark took a nap.

Just around 6;00, we went to the Hospitality House to wait for a bus to head back to the Magic Kingdom as it was Extra Magic Hour's. The rain had stopped, it was humid and the sun was out.

First stop, the Chappeau:

We cut through the Confectionnary:

Took a peek here:

We stopped here:

After getting my coffee, we strolled here and stopped:

Up next, some attractions, some dinner and some water

The picture of Mark with the tiny top hat on his head is hilarious!

And the pic of the 2 of you by the castle is a great one. :goodvibes

Hi Kathy! Methinks Mark wants to be a pirate! I've seen more than a photo or two of your hubby as a swashbuckler!! Caffeine is a great way to start the evening!

Going back and getting caught up.....

I'll just give my gut reaction to Mark's potential job news - that totally sucks!! Seriously, I know that you have such a great attitude and have faith that the best will happen but I just want to smack an owner!! Ok, I'll settle down now.

I'm a fan of LTT but I've never tried their burgers. I refuse to order their fried cheese since they changed the menu and got ride of the cheese nuggets. Hmph! That was nice that they commemorated your anniversary in such a colonial fashion! :thumbsup2

Let's see, you're a Cubs fan :thumbsup2, a Hawks fan :thumbsup2 I'll leave it at that since my Packer fan husband may look over my shoulder if I commend your football team choice!!

I will be thinking of you and your brother tomorrow and hope and pray for a positive report.

Take care and God bless!!

I'm all caught up :cool1:. I love all the pictures of Mark in the hats!! He looks like he is having a good time. After reading your review on R&C, I can't wait to eat there!! I am not a big fish fan, but the fish and chips looked delish.

Looking forward to reading about your Sunday night ADR.

LOVE the photo of you and Mark in front of the castle, that's a keeper :goodvibes

sending an extra big dose of pixiedust: , prayers and :hug::hug::hug: for tomorrow

Just stopping by to let you know I am thinking of you and sending prayers your way today. I pray that everything goes smoothly. Many (((Hugs)))

And I had to comment on your update too... Love the coffee!

I have to say - that photo of you an Mark in front of the castle is probably the BEST one yet! I Love it! You two are so CUTE!!!!

D~

Hat pictures and Starbucks. I mean really... if this isn't the quintessential KatMark TR update, I don't know what is! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:
