What Time Do You Get Up

Just wondering, with everyone doing early entry just what time do you guys get up? Between eating breakfast (do you, if so is it the very quick I'll just grab something kind) and the traveling from your hotel to the parks, are you getting up at 5 AM every day? And are your kids okay with these ungodly hours?

At 5:30 AM at WDW we like to take a walk around resort(OKW) then fix a nice breakfast in room. Then we are ready for a full day at parks. We do not have children with us so that is not a concern for us.We get up at same time at home,do walk, eat then off to work we go.Like the routine better at WDW.::yes:: :wave2:

We were there for Spring Break this year, and did EE 3 or 4 days. (can't remember exactly... I've slept since then!) I would get up at 6, and then wake DH and DS around 6:30. We would leave at 7-7:15 to be there by 8, grabbing a quick breakfast on our way. Since we had our own car, we went to the McDonald's over by ASSp a couple of times. Other days, we would just have a snack (cheese crackers, cookies... nutritious, I know... but hey, we were on vacation!) on the way and then have a good (early) lunch at the park.

As for if my son liked doing this, the answer would have to be NO. However, he doesn't like getting up early ANY day, so at least he was OK with it since we were in WDW! There were a couple of days that we went to bed early and/or took a short rest in the afternoon to help us all deal with the early wake-ups.

I remember one special day when we had seen the fireworks at MK in the summer (which makes for a late night) and when Mickey called the next morning to wake us up, we held the phone to DD's ear. She was 6 at the time. She opened her eyes, said "Are you NUTS? It's still dark outside" and promptly was snoring again.

My suggestion is try to balance the staying up late nights with sleep in mornings... try to schedule the EE's in the parks that mean the most to you and sleep a little later on the EE days that don't. Oh, and open your blackout curtains in your room a little while before you try to wake up dead children!

Have fun!:earsgirl:

That is great!

On EE mornings, we would get up at 6am, grab a quick Pop Tart/Mini Muffin from our grocery stash, and be ready to leave the room at 7 am for the 8am EE. When we didn't do EE we got up at 7 am and got to the bus stop by 8 am.

One word of advice-- don't try to do a Pleasure Island night or E-ride night followed by an EE day the next day. It doesn't work. :) Well, at least not for us, anyway. ;)

We did the same thing that GarrettJD did. It took us an hour to get dressed, eat a quick bite in the room, drink coffee, and get out the door. 6AM came pretty early on a couple of mornings for sure.

Thanks for posting this! I was wondering the same thing! I have a hard enough time getting my kids up in the mornings for school, and was wondering how I'd get them up in the parks! LOL

Hi,
When my family went my husband and i got up at 5:30 and let my boys sleep....When we were done getting ready, then we woke up the kids...My oldest 12 was the hardest to get moving in the morning, for one he is not a morning person and two he likes to sleep....
We didn't get to bed until late at nights i think sometimes around 12, after a fews days of staying up late and getting up early....It got to me after i think the third day, i think i could of gone back to the hotel and slept the rest of the day but i didn't, just went to bed earlier that night...When we returned home even my youngest 5 who doesn't sleep in, slept to i think 10 the next morning.....

:D

I tend to get up between 6 and 7. If I don't have a character breakfast scheduled, then I usually just have some Pop Tarts and orange juice from the resort food court. I don't like sleeping in on vacation, so even if I weren't doing an Early Entry morning, I'd still be up early.

My daughter had just turned four on her first trip to Disney World(She just turned 7 on 5/1). We flew in late at night and got to our All Star room around 11:00pm. Well she just HAD to walk around and check out the scenery and by the time she went to bed it was a tad past midnight. I don't need any more than 4-5 hours of sleep a night year round, so sleep deprivation is nothing to me on vacation.

The next morning I was up at 6:45 and grabbed the video camera. Amazingly, Rayven woke up too and stood up. I turned the video camera on and said, "Smile sugarbear! We are going to Magic Kingdom today!" Her face just fell apart and she started open-mouthed bawling! She is not a crier by any means! I think it was pure excitement that drove her out of bed, but exhaustion got the best of her the minute she realized that she was not going to be laying back down.

She had a rough morning that day, but she shook it off and was winging it like a pro by weeks end.

We always stay offsite. We just got back this past Saturday May 8th. I usually set the alarm for around 6:30-7am. My daughter and son do showers/or baths the night before. So in the morning only myself and husband take showers and get dressed. By then we wake the kids. We "always' have breakfast in the room(we stayed at a timeshare condo), it saves time and money. We always "try" to leave the room by 8am, that gives us plenty of time to get to any park Disney or Universal before the 9am start/opening time. We also never go to the parks on early entry day. I always keep my list handy, and my plan our schedule around that.

We didn't have to set an alarm for our entire trip over Easter.. We did EMH many times and were awake by 6 am and then did a quick b - fast in our room. We were always there for opening!

we normally get up at 5:30am for work :( my 2 yr old is often up before then  no need for alarm clocks here.

we like to get to the parks early, on our last trip in november (without ds) dh and i were the very first ones in the mgm parking lot :hyper: a bit overkill for the off season but we like to be among the first at the turnstyles.

We were there over Easter and we went to ee every day on 7am ee we got up at 5.30 and ate in our room . We stayed up later on the days that ee was 8am we never used a alarm clock other than than to wake the kids .

My kids are early risers and since we travel off season, we are usually in bed by 9pm-9:30 anyway. Then the kiddos are up by 7am at the latest. No need for an alarm clock with them around.

We just got back from a 11 day stay at the Poly. I don't think we woke up any earlier then 9am! Most days it was closer to 10am. We did do one EMH at MK and it killed us to get up that early! LOL!

These days, we get up around 8:30. We don't to early mornings anymore, and prefer the relaxed park touring strategy. If I schedule character breakfasts, I do it for 10 AM (or later).

I usually set the alarm around 7:00 or so for myself, I get up and shower and then wake up DH and try to let the kids sleep in as late as possible. We grab some cereal or poptarts in the condo for breakfast and hopefully make it out by 9:00. It takes us about 10 minutes to drive to the parks. No one in our family is a morning person, so that makes it hard. Thank goodness we go in October so it isn't very crowded anyway.

Now on our Myrtle Beach trip in June we will probably sleep in pretty much every day and very seldem will we use an alarm clock.
We usually have late nights there and DD and DS will sleep in probably until at least 9:00, if not later! (We trained them well!) I love our Disney vacations, but I am looking forward to a RELAXING week at the beach!:sunny:

I got my poor family up at 6 or a little before for many trips. They hated it but did it for me. Kids are grown up now, and though I could still be there right at EMH opening, I make no plans to be there early. We get there when we get there.:earsboy:
