What Time Do You Get Up

I REFUSE to get up before 7 a.m. when we're on vacation. On days we want to go to parks that's the earliest I'll consider getting up. On pool days it's whenever! :p

On most vacations I sleep in until like 9 or 10am. But I think when I go the next time I'll be up much earlier b/c of PS for 1900PF at the GF and I have a tour at 9:30. The last couple times I went the first day I was up by 5:30am making the "long" drive to Disney! hehe! I was in the Disney area by 7am!

We do things alittle differently! DM and DF usually get up around 7:30 and go and sit by the pool or grab breakfast in the food court. I usually will be up by 11:30 and we are lucky to get my DB out of bed by noon! We are lucky if we are at the parks by 1:00 PM! We have lunch at our resort and then off to the parks. We actually like hitting the parks in the afternoon because it seems like there are less strollers and people are then heading back to their hotels for a swim. Also we go to disney often so we are not in any hurry to get to the parks!

DH and I are naturally early risers--I get up at 5:00 a.m. at home so sleeping in till 6 feels like vacation! DH gets up even earlier. At WDW, we shower and get ready. I run down and get breakfast. DD is 13 and is NOT a morning person. At WDW, all I'd have to do to have her hop out of bed would be to whisper in her ear, "Rock-n-Rollercoaster" or "Space Mountain." She'd whip out of that bed so quick she'd practically knock me down!

I wish it were that easy to get her up for school!

Our schedule didn't work out for EMH, so we will be at parks on regular opening times (9:00)....

That being said, I get up at 5:00 for work, and the boys have to be up by 6:00 because I drive them to daycare/school. So getting up at 7:00 to take my shower and get ready will be like sleeping in to me!! Figure I'll roll the kids out of bed at 8:00. Except for one day PS at Chef Mickey's, they'll just eat Pop Tarts or something equally sugary and disgusting....they (two boys) don't need much time to get ready.

I've already prepared them what to expect ahead of time..and amazingly enough didn't get any complaints (after all, it IS their first trip, I'll be lucky if they don't wake ME up first!!)

Just wondering, with everyone doing early entry just what time do you guys get up? Between eating breakfast (do you, if so is it the very quick I'll just grab something kind) and the traveling from your hotel to the parks, are you getting up at 5 AM every day? And are your kids okay with these ungodly hours?
We can get ready and be out of the room by 7:15 which leaves plenty of time for us to get to EE at the parks the times we've gone. We also always rent a car so we don't need to rely on Disney transportation. Makes it less stressful. On days we don't have a breakfast reservation, I have boxes of cereal and juice in the room and we eat on the go then graze through the parks until our first big meal. You can always grab a piece of fruit or juice or coffee on the go.

I am an early riser and my husband is one when he has to be. Our sons did not seem to mind getting up early since we were in Disney. My older one made a point of taking a shower in the evening. One it relaxes himn and 2 it makes the morning go much easier since we don't have to waste 45 minutes waiting for him.

This is where staying on-site can help. Even better if you are staying at a deluxe of the park that has EMH. If you stay at CR, Poly, GF, or WL, you are only about 20 minutes from room door close to MK entrance and have two choices of transportation (except WL). Concierge can help one step further by having that quick continental breakfast that takes only 10-15 minutes. Of course you can bring your own simple breakfasts for the room.

We get up no earlier than 6:15am for parks we need to bus over so we can catch the 7am bus. At the YC we get up about 6:45 - 7am to make Epcot and MGM EMH and the same time for an MK resort to get to MK.

I love to get up early and get started before DH. Once I'm up and all the lights are tunred on ( I know, it's mean) he gets out of bed and gets moving.
The thing that slows us down is DH likes to read the paper while drinking his morning coffee. Because neither one of us wants to take the mug to the parks, I have to wait until he's done before we can get to the parks.
Next trip, I'm going to have the paper and coffee waiting for him so we can speed things up a bit.
Who wants to wait for coffee when there's all of WDW waiting for them?

We only did EE at AK our last trip. My husband and I got up at 7 (he can get ready in like 10 minutes) He woke the kids (DD then5 and DS then2) at 7:15 and got them ready while I got ready (we would give them baths at night and have their clothes laid out so it would take literally 5 minutes to get them ready). We were out the door at 7:30 had breakfast at the food court at POR and were on the bus by 8. I know, we didn't get into AK until 8:30, but it worked out fine because the only EE ride we wanted to do was the Safari ride anyway. This trip we are getting a fridge in our room for breakfast food so that will cut out the time we would waste getting breakfast. Unless it takes you over an hour to get ready and you're having a sit down breakfast, I really don't see needing to get up at 5. I know I never could!! ;)

We usually get up around 6 or 6:30. But that is when DD wakes up. When we went in 2002 there was no Early Opening, just the Character Caravan. We bypassed that. We will do the same this year, and go to the busses around 7:10 or so on early mornings and about 8 on regular hours.

We all take our showers the night before, although hubby takes one again in the morning.

I usually get up about 5:30, get dressed, and go out for a morning stroll to the food court for hot chocolate or soda in the mug, have my morning smoke and fill their mugs and pick up bananas for them as soon as the food court opens. While I'm doing that hubby takes a shower. While hubby is dressing and shaving, the boys crawl out of bed and throw on some clothes, put their eyes in, rake a toothbrush over their teeth, and put a ball cap on. (They are 16 and 17).

I bring them back their bananas and mug, they finish that and we're off to the bus stop.

Now if the Studios is the EMH day, hubby stays in bed for a little bit longer while we do the RNR Coaster/Tower of Terror Combo and he'll catch up with us about 8:45 in front of Great Movie Ride.

I wonder if I can cut time by just throwing my DSs a bar of soap in with them when they are in the pool. For some reason they don't think they need baths/showers if they've been swimming!

Oh to be a kid again!!

I would love to sleep in but I'm going during Xmas, so I doubt I can if I want to get in. My kids will not be happy. What time should i get to the parks to make sure I get in.?

I get up first and Im usually up around 5:30-6:00. Most days, especially at the beginning of the trip, Im up before the wake up call. This is actually sleeping in for me as weekdays at home I wake up at 4:45, and get up by 5:00.

My early-rising, breakfast-cooking in-laws have been going with us lately and we stay in a villa with a kitchen. We wake up to the smell of scrambled eggs and waffles at about 6:30. This lures the sleepy children off the hide-a-bed and up to the table. After that, the excitement kicks in and we can't help but be there for early entry. :teeth: I mean what else WOULD we do?

We have mornings down to an art. We get up 1 1/2 hour before the park opens. We do only 2 or 3 EE days, always MK at least. We do EVERYTHING the night before. Hang out clothes, pack fanny pack lay out a quick breakfast. We shower in the PM and can be out of the room in less that 45 minutes, and are often on the first boat or bus of the day.
We do one sleep in day a trip and sleep until whenever, never past 8:00. There is just too much to do!!!!

We usually get up around 700-730 am and hit at least 1 character breakfast for my two boys. Otherwise, we grab a quick bite in the room and head for the parks by 800am
