What things do people ASSUME you like...

1)I hate hate hate shopping, cooking and fashion. Just because I am a girl does not mean I am going to drool at the chance to shop, bake or try on clothes. Sorry, no.

2) Sorry, I am not up to date with the latest preschool programming. Just because I like Disney, does not mean I enjoy watching all programming for 2-5 year olds. (Though I admit, I do like imagination movers )

3)Sorry, I may be a girl who likes to read, but I do not like romance novels. I prefer Sci-fi and fantasy! :thumbsup2

4) Did I mention I hate shopping? Ugh!

Wow, are you ME???? :lmao:

Just because I am a vegetarian does NOT mean I eat fish. I hate seafood. Some people have a really hard time understanding that.

I am girly and I love to be fashionable and dress nicely and be well groomed, but I'm another female who hates shoe shopping. I tune out when women start going on and on about shoes. Purses too. I just don't get it.

I'm from MN and now live in CO. People assume I like snow and the cold as well as skiing/snowboarding. Absolutely not!! I hibernate in winter!

I'm also a sorority girl so people assume I like to party and drink. Wrong again!

I am from the South.....I do not live in a house trailer, I do not own a hound dog, I do not drive a pickup truck (but DH does, LOL!). I am not racist/predjudiced against black people, Mexicans, Asians, or homosexuals.

I do not eat possum, squirrel, raccoon, rabbits or any other form of wildlife that I have killed myself.

I am not missing any teeth!:lmao:

From LA and not missing any teeth? Sorry, not buying it... ;)

Hmmmm....

3. Don't assume that just b/c everyone loves coffee OR that you once hated coffee but moved to Seattle and learned to love it, that I will ever care to place one drop of coffee in any form on my tongue for as long as I live.

No coffee regardless of the bean, no mocha flavored anything (ice cream, chocolates :scared1:), and no Kahlua. Blek blek blek! I don't like it, I will never like it. It ain't even close to Green Eggs and Ham so no, I'm not going to try it in whatever awesome form you prepared it. It's GROSS! (and yes, unlike that character who never tried it--I have and :scared1::scared1::scared1:)

Whew--that felt good.:lmao:

I"m right there with you. I worked 25 years of night shift as an RN and I never learned to drink coffee. I have tried it 40 ways to Sunday and there is nothing redeeming about the stuff.

I drink hot tea like it's going out of style. Black tea with milk and sweetener. Please do not assume that because I love black tea that I also love herbal teas. I do not. Do not even ask me to taste it--I do not like flavored teas of any sort. Save your effort.

This is what someone assumed I didn't like. I asked a coworker what book he was reading because he was walking in with a book. He said oh you wouldn't like it or something. It was one of the Lord of the Rings books. I said, I've already read all those. He didn't have much to say about that.

I love all sorts of books Especially Stephen King!

I also do not get purse or shoe obsessions.

 Oh my gosh! What does it say about me that I live in the South, I"m saving up to buy a big dual cab 3/4 ton truck so I can use it to pull my trailer that I plan to be living in about 3 years from now? Don't have a hound dog, just an big ole poodle.

On the plus side, I may be old, fat and conservative, but my friends would positively be shocked if they knew that I do not hate gay people. Indeed, we have several gay men in our extended families and my children have gay friends. My church friends would die!

Wow, I guess I'm a stereotypical girl!

I hate hate hate wearing closed toe shoes...

Hmmm...

1. Don't assume I like country music just because I live in TN! I don't!

2. Also, just b/c I am a southerner doesn't mean I hunt, have squirrel or possum in my freezer, or a deer's head on my wall. I don't hunt, and neither does my DH.

3. I do not like anything 'girly'...no shoes, shopping (except for neccessities), or romantic comedies (gag!)

I'm sure there is more...

Let's see where to start... I too dislike Tyler Perry movies, but I do respect the story of how he got to where he is. He showed a lot of perseverance, but his movies are too goofy and hokey for me.

I'm a female, and I absolutely hate weddings. I couldn't wait for the planning of mine to be over (never a fan of being the center of attention.)

I am a youngish black woman, but please don't assume I have a bunch of kids at home -- I've none. Those French toast sticks, OJ and industrial size box of Goldfish crackers in my cart at Sam's Club were for me (but don't worry, I exercise so I'm well within my appropriate weight)

I have 'natural' (no relaxers or straighteners) coily black hair. No, I am not making a political statement with it, nor am I an 'angry black woman.' I'm actually very easy to talk to and relate to. I smile and joke a lot, I wish people wouldn't act as though they are afraid to approach me. I just prefer the ease of dealing with my natural hair.

I'm not a huge fan of rap, but there are a few songs I like. One would probably think my iPod belonged to someone with multiple personalities because of the 'eclectic' mix of music.

I couldn't tell you the last guest Oprah had on her show, much less what her latest book club selection is -- I'm not a fan. (Had a librarian at the public library ask if I was reading 'The Road' for Oprah's book club not too long ago.)

Never liked romance novels. I've been reading Dean Kootnz and the like since I was a fifth grader.

I am now a stay at home wife/student. I'm glad I don't have time to sit around eating bon bons and drinking coffee (oh yeah, I hate coffee too, oddly enough, it makes me sleepy.) I had a neighbor ask my husband if I was 'up yet,' at 9 a.m. one morning.

I don't get the appeal of most reality shows and why we Americans latch on to certain nonsensical trends.

I like to think I can speak the king's English fairly well. Sometimes my brain works faster than my mouth, but a good portion of the time what I say makes sense :upsidedow Slang gives me a headache both in listening to and attempting to read (as does a lot of 'net shorthand too!)

I'm a doctor's wife and people think we're rich. Not at all. He's a family practice doc which is not the same as specialists but people don't realize that. When people say your married to a doctor you don't have to worry about money I want to answer "Then why do I work, buy my groceries at Aldi's or get my clothes from Target?" Once somebody said "We just paid our bill for my baby's delivery so you can go on vacation now." The truth is we pay more in malpractice insurance than medical insurance pays us so we actually owe money after a delivery!:scared1: (He finally quit OB last year)

I am English and grew up in England. Despite this, I do not like tea. I have never liked tea. Please don't ask me the difference between Earl Grey and Lady Grey and green tea and any other bizzare concoction because I don't know and don't care.

I also do not know your friend Charlie, who also lives in England. England has quite a few people these days and just because we both lived in the same country at the same time, we probably do not know each other.

I have cats that I love dearly. But I'm not a fan of cat accessories. I don't want a car mug or key chain or sweater. I only have a cat calendar because my grandma bought it for me and don't want to hurt her feelings

That DID feel good!!!! :yay:

Geez - or are you me??

I'm an English teacher and I really dislike a lot of the "dead white guys" of literature. I swear some people think it's almost blasphemy!

Just because I'm a teacher doesn't mean that I need apple mugs, apple key rings, apple tote bags or any other teachery appley paraphenalia.

I sometimes think I am the only paramedic on earth who does not like coffee. I have been told that I cannot possibily be a real paramedic because all paramedics drink coffee. I'll make a pot of coffee if I know there will be others stopping in at the fire house. I actually love the smell of coffee. However, I won't drink the stuff...ever!

1. I don't like pink on me.

2. I don't like frills and flutter if you know what I mean. I get girly stuff sometimes and I just don't like it.

3. I don't like romances.

4. I can't stand coffee but family members offer it to me constantly and have for years.

that I am a druggie!

My DH and I like rocker (metal) music and he always had long hair (until recently).

The funny thing is....I don't drink (never did)....smoke...never did drugs etc.

I can't tell you how often we have gotten followed around by LP while shopping. Hysterical thing is, I run 145 C-stores....I arrest people daily for theft.

I agree, don't assume because I am an elementary school teacher that I like anything apple or wear clothes with cute embroidered items on it.
