There are some that hold water bottles. Are they a good idea? Also, do you make your kids wear fanny packs, too?

I normally depise fanny packs but in WDW they are basically a necessity (esp. since I think backpacks get hot). Anyway, we found the most awesome fanny pack.

It was by Columbia but of course I'm having trouble finding the this to put a link to it so i'll just describe it (it's cost $20).

Ok,so the thing I liked the most is that it's square and it has a shoulder strap so that you can wear it like a purse BUT you can unzip these little pockets and pull out thefanny pack straps. It also has two zip out pockets (one on either side) that have mess pockets to hold water bottles.

Oh, that sounds perfect. I'll do some surfing to see what I can come up with. Thank you!

I wear a belt bag (fanny pack?) with a water bottle holder because I like to carry my sports brita. Dh and my kids prefer the water bottle strap (sold at WDW) and a regular belt bag. The girls use a small water bottle and my dh also carries a brita with his. I keep a rubbermaid salt contaner (never had salt in it!) with powdered lemonade and use the brita to make my girls very light strength lemonade. While they usually drink lots of water the fl water dosen't suit them, a touch of lemonade powder does the trick.

My girls each carry a small belt bag with a minil fan, autograph book and pen and other misc kid things. This keep us from having to carry around a back pack and works to keep everyone happy and hydrated.

We went to the camping store (REI) and bought these huge low profile fanny packs, it has a giant pouch then it has some littler ones for money, passes, etc. It covers most of the front of me and around the sides, no joke the thing is 10 inches down, but its close to my body, it doesnt stick out a mile, I believe it was designed for hiking, but hey, i HATE having to carry anything, all of it around my waist! Water bottle on my shoulder and I am SET!

PS - this year I am puttin my foot down, if the kids wanna bring it? The kids are gonna carry it, 10 and 14 is plenty old enough for Mom to have free hands! Right? LOL

loopy, what brand is your fanny pack that you got? It sounds really cool and something I might want to check in to to carry on our July trip? Thanks!

I bought a Columbia one named "Crooked Butte Lumbar Pack" through www.campmor.com. It was regularly $40 I got it for $20. I think it may be last years model but it's great!! It fits a ton and it has extra straps for lumbar support. I filled it up even with a few water bottles and it was very comfortable.

They have a ton of other packs by Columbia and other companies as well. They also have a waist water bottle holder for $6.

They also have a huge selection of backpacks and slingpacks.

This one is made by REI. I believe it was a little pricey, my sister bought it for my birthday. When we looked at them Im thinking they were about $45? Another nice thing about it is it has thick padding all on the inside part that sits on your tummy, and waterproof zippers, which come in handy when your on a water ride!! :o) I would check a hiking store.
good luck Shelley

Looked for it on the internet, it is really similar to that crooked butt one.. by Columbia, (click on her link) I think this one is a little wider thats the only difference.

As a fashion conscious lady I bought a Vera Bradley fannypack for this trip. They were selling these for 10.00 at the outlet sale in April and I couldn't resist.

But "Of Course"................ whos Vera Bradley? LOL Thats a great price. Me being the 'no make up, no jewelry, non fashion type (hehehe) I went with practicality and HUGE-NESS!!

I have a Nike fanny pack that I love. It has 2 separate compartments and a spot for a water bottle between them.
