What songs make you sad?

Sissy's Song by Alan Jackson.:sad1:
That song makes me cry as well

Don't take the girl Tim McGraw
ButterFly Kisses Bob Carlise
I hope you dance LeeAnn Womack
Heartland, I loved her First
Stand, Sugarland
Candle in the wind tribute to Princess Diana

"Lullabye" by Billy Joel- I was in college (1994) and made it back home in just enough time to say goodbye to my grandmother, who was dying of cancer. When I walked into her hospital room, she grabbed my hand and said, "You came!" She died within 2 hours after I arrived.

When my mom, aunt, and I got into the car after leaving the hospital, we heard the opening to "Lullabye". I had never heard the song, but the opening lines made my mom, aunt and I look at each other in amazement- "Good night my angel, time to close your eyes"

I never heard the song's title, so I didn't know it was Billy Joel. My mom heard the song again when her and my aunt were packing up my grandmother's house.

A few years later, at my school's book fair, I see a beautiful hardcover book with a CD included of that very song! I bought it and let my DH listen to it. He plays piano by ear and was able to play the song (and still does).

The weird thing is, my DD Lindsay was 4 at that time. I told her I wanted her to listen to a very beautiful song. When I played it for her, she burst into tears :sad1: It was such an unexpected reaction, and when I asked her why she said the song just made her feel sad.

"Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town" by Pearl Jam
"Who You'd be Today" by Kenny Chesney

"All of Me" by Evanescence. It reminds me of my sister and her husband. He died in an Army training accident.

I also agree with "Lullabye" but for a completely different reason. I remember after 9/11 Billy Joel having getting choked up when he sang it and had to start all over. It made me think of all the children 9/11 had to be explained to.

The song 'Smile' makes me sad. Also 'From a Distance' by Bette Middler was on ther radio all the time when my dad died so it gets me a bit sad.

And lets not forget the infamous 'Christmas Shoes':scared1:

"Operator" - Jim Croce
"Same Old Lang Syne" - Dan Fogelberg

I love them both, but boy do they squeeze my heart.

I'll be there and The Dance

Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word / Elton John
Hard Habit to Break / Chicago
Only You / Yaz
At 17/ Janis Ian

You're Gonna Miss This by Trace Atkins. About how time flies, basically, oh....:guilty: I can't even write about it! I put it on my iPod and when it shuffles to this song I can't even listen most times.

Hero by Mariah Carey... It was played at my best friend's memorial service.

Forget Tears in Heaven. I just have to turn it off. Big lump-in-the-throat song.

When I Get Where I'm Going, by Brad Paisley with Dolly Parton. It makes me think of my dad who died in 2004 of cancer.

Baby Mine from Dumbo, although Alison Kraus's version really gets me. I think of my autistic son every time I hear the words and cry. I'm tearing up right now just thinking of how so many people don't "get him" the way we do. He makes perfect sense to us. Oh, how I love him. :sad1:

Go Rest High On That Mountain by Vince Gill is so beautiful it makes me cry.

And Cheap Whiskey by Martina McBride makes me a little weepy.
