What should I do??

Will your husband have a car? if so then get your mother or you and your DH an off site room for the nights he is there . My Mil lives with us and she is a very important part of our family( She is comming with us in 2 weeks ) so I disigree with the other posters about leaving your mother home .
OK, this might get long and confusing...so I apologize in advance!
My husband is in the Navy, and he is stationed in Panama City Florida while I stayed behind with our kids in Virginia Beach, it was a tough decision for us to do the whole "geographical bachelor" thing, but it was/is the best choice for us...That being said...here is my problem!
We are leaving for DW on January 13, staying at Shades of Green. Back when I made the reservations my DH wasn't sure he would be able to take the time off to come with us. I booked the reservation for 2 adults and 3 kids as I knew that my mom (who basically lives with me while my husband is gone) would be coming. Well....now my husband CAN come...for 5 out of the 7 days, which of course we are thrilled about..But now we are 3 adults and 3 kids, which puts us over the "max occupancy" for our room (which is 5 people). Now, my youngest is 3 1/2, so space for us isn't an issue at att becasue she'll just sleep in the bed with us, but my problem is that if we want to do the EMH then we ALL need a resort ID. So my initial thought was that I just wouldn't "claim" my daughter was in in the room...but then I got to worrying about her not having one of those cards. Do you think the CM's would be super strict about letting her on rides if she doesn't have a card but all the rest of us do???
I really just want to be honest of course...but I fear if I do that then they (SOG) will tell us that since we are "over" that we need another whole room...and there is just NO way we can afford that right now because we didn't budget for another 800 bucks!!!
Soooo...what should I do?? Any thoughts or opinons??
Thanks in advance...I'm stressing!!!! :confused3

Thanks! Sounds like a crazy good deal...but I have no idea where that poster got that info??! I posted a reply and PM'd, so hopefully she can give me the scoop and hopefully we can take advantage of that! :)

I hope the poster gets back to you-that does sound like a great deal!:goodvibes

I haven't read all the responses. Wouldn't the easist thing to do is just pretend EMH doesn't exist? Act like you never heard of it.

It's true! I can't beleive what a great deal it is.. My only problem is that we needed a 6 day park hopper...but we will make it work for that price!! LOL:banana:
Thank you SO MUCH for giving me the heads up!! :thanks:

No Problem:) Glad to be of help. Hopefully this frees up some money to make everything else easier;)

ya know...instead of a 6 day parkhopper, use the 5 day WDW ticket, then head over to SeaWorld, which also has a Salute deal (and has for several years, not just when the economy is bad and they need to). You can get 4 FREE passes.

I think people have misunderstood my original post...I AM most certainly buying her a ticket to the parks...just wasn't sure how strict they are about a 3 year old needing her own key so as to do the EMH's.....thinking that if the rest of the party have valid SOG cards...it stands to reason that the 3 year old i staying with us too.....:confused3

When my son was around 3 we went to AK for EMH and only DH and I had our keys (that had our tickets on them). I did not have DS3's current room key because his tickets were on one from a previous trip. They were NOT happy at all about letting us stay (this was pre-bracelet). Now, with 2 adults, his mother and father and only him where else could he be staying! I see now my mistake, at the time I didn't even know EMH existed, we just happen to go to that park later in the day and I see why they had issues with it after reading this and others postings on the boards.

The people in the room thing is a fire issue, imagine if every room did the same thing. That would add up to alot of extra people.

That's actually exactly what we are planning, we are Busch Gardens Platium Pass Holders, so we were planning on going there one day anyway, so this way we'll just not do any disney parks that day.
I still am floored at the good deal!!

:rotfl:

Sorry I had to try to explain one last time since you just don't get what I've said. I did think you were going to not get her a ticket as well, but that would have just been two cheats. You keep skirting the original cheat.
It is cheating to have an extra person in your room. Your daughter counts as a person even if she is only 3. I'm not sure why its so hard to admit this or do you really think the 3 year old doesn't count for room occupancy?

dementia- she just posted that she contacted Shades of Green so they could hopefully help her remedy the situation. She posted that maybe a page or 2 ago, so no more worries about that!

OP, congrats on the timing with the new military ticket deal! I hope that helps you all figure out something that will work wonderfully for you! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Have an amazing trip! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Hey OP-How's the planning going?;)

Finally the answer to my original question!!!!!

I sent an email to SOG today explaining the situation, hopefully they can help me to figure it out.
SO all those who felt like I was "cheating" never fear...my soul is saved.

Have you thought about staying at the cabins in Fort Wilderness they accompany 6 and some what separated for privacy I don't know what the price difference is though good luck and I also travel with MOM :rotfl: love her (we do stay in different cabins but did share with my inlaws and worked out great) have a great time what ever you decide to do :cool1: :cool1:

Hi OP just wanted to see how the planning was going? I read over the posts and noticed the great deal Lisa found for you, thats awesome!!!!!!!!! I wish you and your family a magical vacation at the world:wizard:

Also I forgot on pp's to say thank you to your dh for protecting our country:flower3: and to you & your family for all the sacrifices you make:hug:

First, I want to thank your DH for his sacrifice. Second, it sounds like your mom has made sacrifices too: having already raised children once, she's doing it again to help you out. I think you should thank them both by getting an extra room, and if it costs a lot...well, sometimes that's just the price you have to pay to do the right thing. Please don't listen to the previous posters who seem to want your mother to be some sort of built-in babysitter. That's insulting after all she's done for you.

OP, good luck! We are a military family too. We are headed to WDW this Sat., Jan. 10 to celebrate DHs safe return fromIraq. We got a great deal with pay for 4 nights, get 3 free. With this deal, we are able to take the entire family! (grown kids, grands). We have 3 rooms at Pop. Hope this helps!;)

PS My mom is not joining us this time, she's doing a cruise with my Aunt. But, she usually does come. She and my DH have a great relationship, and she is just as happy to spend time with him as the kids and I.

I actually have looked into just getting an extra room..ANYWHERE!! But everywhere is booked, except for the 400 a night rooms...I love them both, but that just ain't gonna happen!;)

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, that's just what I needed, just some brainstorming! As I posted, I contacted SOG so hopefullyt hey can help me figure something out! I have faith that everything will work out as it's supposed to!

Wow! If there was no room availability anywhere, including off-site, I think I'd be looking into changing my dates of travel! I didn't think January was typically that busy, such that there would be no vacant rooms anywhere in the immediate area? :confused3

Have you actually tried contacting off-site places like the Comfort Inn and such, near DTD? (We've stayed there before, FREE, using my DH's 'Choice Rewards' points.) Mousesavers is constantly posting wonderful deals for several of the off-site resorts in the DTD area too--check out Mary's pages FMI, then call/email to check availability. May not be the vacation you originally planned on, but an affordable solution is out there somewhere. ;)

OP, I do hope you find appropriate accomidations for all six of you, somewhere.

I didn't look off site, as that wouldn't help with the EMH situation...
There were some rooms available, but only at deluxe and we just no way can afford that with him gone and us basically supporting two households.
Can't rebook either because I am a nurse and had to fight for this time off!

Not that I have any info to add, but I just want to say where would we be without our mothers? We took my mother a few years ago with us and she stayed in our room. She is also coming with us again in April, this time she is getting her own room(her choice). But I am glad that she comes because she is a big part of our lives. We vacation with her all the time.

OP I hope everything works out for you.
