What should I do??

Well, since you asked, I will give you my honest opinion.

Leave mom at home and enjoy some much deserved family time -- just you, your husband, and the kids. Your kids are older and I'm sure you could handle them easily enough on the 2 days he isn't with you. Personally, I wouldn't want to share a room with my husband AND my mother; and if I were a guy I certainly wouldn't want to share a room with my wife (whom I never get to see) AND my MIL -- no matter how wonderul she may be and how much I love her. If she must come, get her a room at a value resort for those few nights and let her watch the kiddos, so you and hubby can have some private time.

:thumbsup2

My question to VCR, and I'm not "bashing" you, but what would happen if they ask your child how old they are. We've been to WDW many times, and several times, the cast member has looked at our one of our children and asked them, "how old are you?". Our 3 dd's are not big, in fact, 2 of them have always been small for their age, and they have still been asked. Do you train you child to lie about their age? I can't think of many children over 3 that would not say they were 3, unless coached to do so. If that is the case, shame on you!!! I would think the easiest, and most honest solution to her problem, would be to get 2 rooms at a value resort, a family suite, or cabin. Will it cost a little more, yes, but honesty is the best policy in our family, and worth the extra.

I hope they dont expect my 2 yr. old to be honest about his age if asked he will probly say 3 (his brother is 3 and hears him say that all the time) Maybe I will copy his BC to take with me

I can understand this, as my girls would say 9, at 2!!! Kids are funny. My only complaint is parents who coach their kids to lie, to save dollars. You know his age, and the truth, I don't think you'll need a birth cert. Enjoy your trip.

I also don't have any ideas for you but you are not alone in traveling and sharing a room with mom. We are planning on going in May and my MIL is staying in the same room as myself DH DS6. We got bunks so she can sleep on the bottom and DS gets top. Not ideal but it is a way for her to be able to come. good Luck :earsboy:

May I ask why is the EMH so important to you, considering you are going during a low crowd time? I think you're really limiting your options for a couple extra hours you might not even need.

We live in FL by Disney and go 2 or 3 times a month and I've never once had a cast member ask any of my children their age at Disney. I've seen it happen at Universal (brother gets us free tickets because he works there) but I've never had it happen to me anywhere. I have not coached my child to lie, but honestly when we are out and people ask her age she usually says "Kathryn"

I didn't look off site, as that wouldn't help with the EMH situation...
There were some rooms available, but only at deluxe and we just no way can afford that with him gone and us basically supporting two households.
Can't rebook either because I am a nurse and had to fight for this time off!

What about the Swan or Dolphin? Dont they give discounts for nurses and I think military to, you get Dsiney transportaion and EMHs.

Your lucky to live so close. We only get to visit once or twice a year. I understand that not all children are going to give a correct answer if asked, our second daughter covered her eyes and hid, my point is honesty is the best policy, and in our house the only way to go. I would rather pay for a 3 year old, and enjoy our day, quilt free. Just because you have yet to be asked doesnt make if okay. Sorry.

My son too usually answers that question with his name.

We haven't ever worked on "How old are you" with him (just turned 3). You have to kind of teach/coach them to answer that question in the first place, and it seems so unimportant to me I haven't bothered.

Thank you! While this may be "weird" to some, my mom is a huge part of our lives...it would be more "weird" to leave her out!

I wouldn't say they are "so important"...but while Jan is a lower crowd time, the hours are also shorter, most parks close at 8 or 9 the week we are there. I was just wanted to have the option of staying out later...perhaps with my two older boys and my husband while mom goes back to resort with younger one.....

I guess my only advise would be to skip the extra magic hour then you won't have to worry about it. Spend that time at the pool relaxing or Downtown Disney. I do understand your pain since I have to pay for two rooms this year on our last trip our baby was young enough that we could still fit into one room 'legally'.

They will check the ticket and room key of every person in your party, even the younger child. They did ask my niece, who was 3, for her ticket and room key.

Good luck!

I would not say the "will" but that they "may." We go to WDW 2-3 times a year and have been for the past 8 years. For morning EMH we have never had to show more than one room key. I enter first showing my key, they ask how many in the party (this past trip 2 weeks ago was a group of 9) then they allowed entry to the whole party.

For evening hours we did need to show a card for the whole party except DS who was 2 (although very tall for his age and easily could have appeared 3). One night DD9 forgot her card and it was no big deal. Everyone else in the party had one so the cast member did not care.

I would never use this information to try to get someone extra in, this is just our experience. I see the OP is doing everything she can to find space for her family. That is exactly what I would do.

We have a six person group as well, and it's not fun to price out our trips. Have you already purchased park tickets? If you haven't, you can save your husband a few bucks by having him purchase one of these passes: http://www.mousesavers.com/wdwtixdiscounts.html#military , Which are free for the military member, and $99 for up to 5 family members. But, these tickets are not avaiable to have extra days added on, which would be fine for your husband, but maybe not the rest of the family. The money saved could be used to buy a room for the husband at SOG, or maybe try giving Disney a call to make sure there is no availability at a value or moderate. (Some moderates are on sale for that time period for up to 40% off, but they're probably gone now. http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#military)
