What should I do??

Does SOG allow 6 in the room you will be staying in? If not, that's where your issue really is...... talking about EMH really obscures the bottom line issue.

If SOG doesn't have a room for 6 , you will need to call them back before you arrive and essentially revise your reservation to change your youngest child's age to under 3 (don't know what explanation you want to give them for this change). Then make sure you mother and 3 kids know that if anyone asks while you're there, they must essentially lie abut her age - and you may well be asked that at the entrance turnstiles or rides (since she won't have an EMH bracelet). Is there any risk for your husband if something goes wrong and SOG finds out the littlest one is really >3 and you're over the room limit (since the resort is run by the military not WDW)??

How comfortable you are with this is a YMMV situation.
Probably the most cost effective alternative is cancel SOG and get something off-site that will fit your party of 6.

Have a nice trip

OP, call Disney and explain the situation to them. I'm sure that they will go out of their way to get your mom a room at a value. Another option is getting Mom a room offsite and her and the kids stay with her a night or two while DH is with you. Then, when DH is not there, stay at SOG.

OP does your DH have a valid Florida Based Military ID? Or a utility statement with his current Florida Address??? We had some friends last year that had an issue similar to your issue. I just called her to ask her what they had to do to get a smaller rate and she said her dh just brought his Florida Military Base Card with them and a copy of his Power bill *I believe* and they had no problem with getting the rate.

I'd of course verify this with Disney before I set it in concrete (because you never want to trust the friend of a friend of a friend who got the deal) but I know they were able to get in with just those 2 things. My friend actually said they didn't even look at the utility bill just his Military ID and then told them thanks and have a Disney Day.

Hopefully that can happen for you as well.

If your DH has any mail coming to his addres sin Florida he can go to the MVA/DMV and get a Florida driver's license, took my parents about an hour, got up early 1 morning and went, that way he can get a Florida discount.

Also, I have no 1st hand knowledge and don't know if it would be cheaper or not but my suggestion would also be to get a cabin at Wilderness Lodge and stay with your DH there a few nights and let your mom stay with the kiddos at SoG, and then have your mom stay at the cabin and stay with your DH and kiddos at SoG a few nights, then after he leaves, you and your mom and kids stay at SoG.

I haven't stayed at either so I don't know if that sounds reasonable or even makes sense, but it's just a suggestion.

I would get mom another room and put the three kids in there with here. DH and I would want all the alone time that we could get. May never even get into a park.;)

Have you tried calling disney & explaining the situation? Maybe they can find a room for your mom in a value. But I wouldn't take someone off the reservation--you never know what can happen.

When we went to SOG in March, the room keys were not the KTTW cards. We got a seperate card which was our resort ID, and just had my name and our dates of stay on it. It didn't have the party size on it, I don't think.
As far as FL resident, I think he'll need a copy of his orders showing he is stationed in Florida. Or get a FL drivers licence. Besides room prices, the tickets are substantially cheaper.
Also, we are looking at staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree resort, which has kidsuites, and can fit 6 for the few days there are no openings at SOG. It was only $99 a night for the kidsuites, lower than our rate at SOG. That depends on if you are already past the 30 day mark. (for those who don't know, if you cancel SOG less than 30 days prior, you forfeit your deposit of one night's stay)
Have fun!

What happens when your daughter isn't allowed on a ride because she doesn't have a room key? If the CMs do their job, someone in your party won't be able to enjoy EMHs.

Why do so many people feel the need to find a way around the rules? If your child is 3 they should have a ticket.
Maybe they should start requiring everyone 1 and over to purchase tickets.

Of course if that happens, we'll have post after post of folks complaining about how greedy disney is.

I think people have misunderstood my original post...I AM most certainly buying her a ticket to the parks...just wasn't sure how strict they are about a 3 year old needing her own key so as to do the EMH's.....thinking that if the rest of the party have valid SOG cards...it stands to reason that the 3 year old i staying with us too.....:confused3

They will check the ticket and room key of every person in your party, even the younger child. They did ask my niece, who was 3, for her ticket and room key.

I agree with the poster who suggested that your DH obtain a FL drivers license. This will save money on the passes as well as rooms. You may also find that the FL discount for a WDW Resort is cheaper than the SOG.

Good luck!

I am pretty sure that the OP's husband, should he get a FL DL, will have to give up his current DL for whichever state he currently holds. I don't think they allow you to carry more than one DL.

Finally the answer to my original question!!!!!

I sent an email to SOG today explaining the situation, hopefully they can help me to figure it out.
SO all those who felt like I was "cheating" never fear...my soul is saved.

In mid-January, the parks should be so slow, you won't need EMH to enjoy everything.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood your original question. I read your post but thought the second to last line of your oiginal post was your main question no the questions that were further up.

Regardless, I hope it all works out for ya'll, and you are abe to have a wonderful vacation.

My question to VCR, and I'm not "bashing" you, but what would happen if they ask your child how old they are. We've been to WDW many times, and several times, the cast member has looked at our one of our children and asked them, "how old are you?". Our 3 dd's are not big, in fact, 2 of them have always been small for their age, and they have still been asked. Do you train you child to lie about their age? I can't think of many children over 3 that would not say they were 3, unless coached to do so. If that is the case, shame on you!!! I would think the easiest, and most honest solution to her problem, would be to get 2 rooms at a value resort, a family suite, or cabin. Will it cost a little more, yes, but honesty is the best policy in our family, and worth the extra.

I am one of those "crazy" people that have traveled with mom and DH without problems. This actually gives DH and I time alone, a night out at a nice restaurant and my mom usually is with the kids. She goes to bed early, and gets up early, which helped us when DS was 8 months old. Also, DH and mom get along well whereas our vacation to DL with MIL was another story...

To the OP: I would call SOG and explain the situation. They should be more understanding of military circumstances and can explain your options. I wouldn't "smuggle" anyone to a resort, because I would feel uncomfortable with it.

Thank you for your husband for his service.

Our tickets were on the room key, so that was how it worked. I did observe other families pulling out their room keys to prove this at EMH.

He can get a FL resident ID card (available at the DMV) without giving up his DL in his original home state. FL has a lot of snowbirds who do this. As long as you can prove you hold a residence in FL you can get one and keep your other ID too.
