What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

LOVE your pictures. awesome awesome awesome. They do make me sad though, all the WL pics. My beloved lodge. tear.

I am envious of the looovely evening you had, all alone. That would normally make me anxious, but it just sounds so fun. It just sounds so relaxing and nice. Exactly what vacation should be.

Cant wait to read more!

I will make it my mission to find said camera this week....or I will make a bunch of scribbly crayon drawings to depict Jack's first morning at WDW and post those instead.

:yay: Oooh, scribbly crayon drawings, I vote for that. :teeth:

I think we all have a room that is a dumping ground, I keep saying I must clean it, but being on the DIS is much more fun! :lmao: I hope you locate the camera, it could be lost forever...:rotfl:

YAY! I found my disposable camera last night! (No I'm not going to tell you where it was - I'm too embarrassed...you can actually see it in the first picture :headache: D'oh!) I dropped it off at Walgreens this morning so I will be able to get up another installment before the Thanksgiving holiday kicks in. I know you are all anxiously awaiting to hear about Jack's very first WDW experience. :cool2:

I keep saying that I'll become organized as soon as I get a house - my apartment is two bedrooms, a teeny living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a tiny little coat closet in the hallway. So not much storage space! And I agree, DISing is so much more fun than cleaning - as are most things!

:yay: Oooh, scribbly crayon drawings, I vote for that. :teeth:

Luckily we won't have to resort to that - an artist i am not!!

It was so fun to just be like "I'm going to take a walk. Oh look, there's the ferry, I guess I'll get on it." totally spontaneous!

great TR - can't wait for the next bit

Thanks! Now that my camera has been located it won't be too much longer

Isn't there a show on TLC or Discovery about decluttering? :rolleyes1

(just kidding) I can somewhat relate.

I think there are four or five shows like that! I want to be on one, maybe someday when I get a house (whenever that happens!)

Have fun finding the camera! I :lovestruc that you shared that!

Once I actually decided to focus on looking for it, I found it in like 2 minutes  I had forgotten that it wasn't a typical Kodak disposable camera - it had a Spongebob Squarepants theme - so once I remembered that I realized it was right in front of me

For a minute i was wondering how you'd gotten pictures of my bedroom!

I am going to try and spend Sunday cleaning it up! We'll see if that happens

:teeth: Thanks Kelly for making me feel a little more normal this morning! I am not anywhere close to a neat freak but I try to keep the kitchen, living room and bedrooms picked up. However, we have an extra room on our main floor (office/music room) that has become the dumping ground. It looks A LOT like your bedroom (oh yeah, and I avoid the basement at all costs because it is not only cluttered but also dusty and cobwebby)
Good luck finding that camera!

It's so much easier when you have a spare room to dump everything in ;) then you can just shut the door and pretend it doesn't exist!

Hi there,
Wow - I've missed a LOT!!!!! I'll try and get caught up properly tomorrow as I'm now off to bed!

:woohoo: on finding the camera. I lose things all the time and then when I find them it turns out they were in plain sight the whole time.

I do that a LOT. There is always at least one thing in my life that I am not totally sure where it is. Right now it's my work ID :headache:

I'm glad you posted here because I didn't realize you had started your TR under a new link! I'll be getting caught up on your TR too :surfweb:

 For me it is almost always my passport that I "misplace". Living on the border I use it often so I misplace it often. :rotfl:

On Wednesday morning, Jack answered the wake up call. He then rolled over and went back to sleep, so I went over to him and bellowed “WE’RE IN DISNEY WORLD AND IT LOOKS LIKE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!” in his face.
After showers we were off to Roaring Fork. Then we took a tour of WL. We ran around the beach, played tetherball, considered renting a boat, ran through the gift shop and rubbed Humphry’s nose.
Then it was time to gather up our bags. This was a problem. Remember that little shopping spree Jakkie & I went on? Well I’m not really sure where I thought all of those things I bought were going to go. I somehow crammed everything into my suitcase, backpack, and a couple of extra shopping bags. Then we went out front and grabbed a taxicab to the Beach Club!
The Beach Club was beyond gorgeous. We dropped our stuff off in room 2602. Then we headed out to the bus stop.

And waited, and waited. And waited. While we were waiting, Jack grumbled a bit about the Beach Club. He liked the Wilderness Lodge better. I had to chuckle because Jakkie had made a similar comment about the Wilderness Lodge (I think her exact words were “I’m not really into all this wilderness stuff.”) Honestly they each probably would have appreciated the other resort more! Oh well!
Anyway, we eventually got to Typhoon Lagoon…..90 minutes after we had left our room. I was already anxious – we had to leave by 3:30pm in order to make it to MK for Jack’s special surprise. Thus begins a string of bad luck and, if I’m being honest, generally bratty behaviour on the part of yours truly
It had been a dozen years since I had set foot in a Disney water park. My time on the college program was over fall/winter, when it was too cold. And all other trips never seemed long enough – the water parks were usually low on my list of priorities. But all Jack cared about was the water park, he would have spent every day at Typhoon Lagoon if I had been up for it. Which I wasn’t. Especially after this particular day.
Everything started out OK – check out my fabulous Mickey Mouse getup. And no, I’m not sure what I was looking at here either.

We found chairs and started hosing down with sunscreen. I got most of me, and Jack’s legs, and then I ran out.
This was not good. In July Jack and I went tubing down the Delaware river. He refused to wear sunscreen. He got very badly burnt and basically couldn’t move for two days without crying out in pain. It was not pretty. Now his entire upper body was unprotected, and we were squirming at the idea of dropping $10 on Disney sunscreen when we had two more bottles of the stuff back in our room. He reassured me that he would be OK so we headed over to….
The Wave Pool.
Dum Dum Dummm.

I did not like the wave pool.

Ok, that’s an understatement. I HATED the wave pool. I couldn’t wear my flip flops because the waves kept pulling them off, and without them the bottom of the wave pool scraped my feet. Every huge wave pushed me down, smashing my face into either the rough floor or other people. The only way I could deal with it was if Jack carried me around like a baby. Which was fitting, because that’s kind of like what I was acting like.
Eventually I dragged him out and we walked around some more.

We explored Shark Reef and then did the banana side of Crush N’ Gusher. I liked it but it hurt Jack’s back so we didn’t try the others. Eventually we found the three body slides (getting around TL is SO CONFUSING – the signs are kind of vague and it took us forever to find anything). I think these were called Humunga Kabunga? I didn’t like the body slides but Jack did, so he went down a couple times while I waited. After more searching we found the storm slides, which I did like.
We walked through the wave pool again, where my shoes got ripped off so violently they broke. Yaaaaay.

Next we were trying to get to Gangplank Falls. Most of the big slides required walking up these huge sets of stairs. And here the stairs were right in the sun so the ground was scorching. We were walking and suddenly I felt a horrible pain shooting through my feet. They were burning from the ground. The pain was unbelievable – I burst into tears.
We decided to try to get some food but out of all of the supposed eaterys at TL, they were either unappealing or impossible to find. I finally found something to lift my spirits:

A Typhoon Tilly frozen drink from Joe the bartender. Yum.
I felt a little better after downing my adult beverage and agreed to try the Lazy River. I did like this, and almost fell asleep. Except that they have random places throughout where little waterfalls splash you. Waterfalls of freezing cold water. That Jack thought it was funny to push me under. Yaaaay!
Next we finally tried Gangplank Falls. This ride seemed way too short for the many miles it seemed we hiked up to it. Jack almost killed a kid who ran under the raft he was holding as he set it down. Totally not his fault, there was no way he could have seen him, the kid’s dad wasn’t watching him at all. Gripe gripe gripe.
We tried another raft ride, and more of the wave pool. My hands got scraped bloody by the stupid wave pool floor.
Finally it was time to go, and I dragged Jack out of his beloved waterpark just in time to see the Y&B bus drive away. I started freaking out because of how long the bus had taken to come before. Luckily another bus came quickly, and we were soon back at our room where we showered and headed off to dinner at Beaches and Cream. Our server was very understanding that we were in a hurry and came right away with our cheeseburgers. Here we are waiting for them to arrive.

I love this poster – I had the same one in my bedroom about 20 years ago!
IMG_5149.jpg

Then out came our cheeseburgers. Not just any cheeseburgers. BEST CHEESEBURGERS EVER.
IMG_5154.jpg

They were delicious. I could have eaten five of them. Before I ate at Beaches and Cream, I could count on one hand how many times a year I would eat a cheeseburger. But since this trip, I have tried eating cheeseburgers every chance I get, in hopes that I may someday find a local cheeseburger equal in greatness to the fantastic Beaches and Creamburger. All have paled in comparison, but I refuse to give up hope.
GOOD CHEESEBURGERS.

And let’s end this segment on that tasty note.

Not like Typhoon Lagoon! Say it isn't so! I'm so sorry you had such a rotten day. :guilty:

I feel bratty complaining because seriously, a bad day in WDW is better than a good day back here in Philly! And I don't even think of it as a bad day, because dinner and our evening at MK were so awesome.

What a bummer on Typhoon Lagoon!

I must say, in tribute to fashion, you look adorable in that brown dress! :thumbsup2

I hope the rest of your day pans out better and I can't wait to find out why you have the best boyfriend ever. :goodvibes

Too bad about Tyhpoon Lagoon, I have no desire to go to the water parks either but Marc is all about trying them.

I had a puzzle of that poster in Beaches & Cream. Those burgers look delish, I really need to get over there and try them!

I agree, i have no desire to go to the water parks, other than to relax in the lazy river, AWAY from the ice cold water falls. Water parks are just not for me. But kudos to you for actually trying the wave pool not once, but TWICE!! :thumbsup2

Bummer about the TL injuries :sad1: I have only been there once and that one time I wanted to know why the wave pool floor isn't as feet friendly as it should be!

The last time I was there was about 12 years ago, and all I remember is how terrified I was of the wave pool :lmao: You think I would have learned my lesson!

I love the rides where you sit in a tube, but that's really it. And I don't love how many steps you have to lug the tube up to get to the top of the ride :scared:

The burgers we had were truly amazing. And we ate there another night, so it definitely wasn't a fluke. Yum.
The only way I can get Jack to go back to WDW is to promise more Water Parks, so i'll be there again someday :scared: Maybe Blizzard Beach will be better.

Thanks! :cutie: I love that brown swimming outfit - it's covered in Mickey heads, but it's very subtle!
By the end of the day I had everyone at MK agreeing that I had the best boyfriend ever :lmao: He definitely humors me!

:( to the TL injuries.

Yeah that was no fun :headache: I'd still rather be there right now than at work though ;)

I can't believe how much I've missed - but finally all caught up!
All sounds great, though the frog incident was a bit freaky - unlike you I would have continued freaking out in the room!
We all love the water parks, TL was closed while we were there, but we did go to BB. It was a bit cool the day we went though!
ITA about the wave pool bottoms though - totally unecessary!

Sorry about your rough day! It sounds like it got alot better! A great cheeseburger makes everything alright! ;)

That stinks about your shoe breaking! My DD-12 went to TL on a mommy daughter trip and had a good time. She loves BB better though. My faves at both parks are the lazy rivers.

Can't wait for what happens next!

Happy Thanksgiving btw!

Just wanted to say I'm really enjoying your trip report. I started reading yesterday (links only) and it's great! I thought I remembered you from Nebo's TR. I have to like anyone who loves Alice like we do. So, do you have the Alice jeans from Disneyshopping like I do? :rotfl2:
