What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

Awww, you didn't have a good day at TL, but you looked great in your dress. I have heard they reccomend wearing water shoes, so I will take your experience to heart and buy some before we go next year. Since a kid, I have always liked water parks, I cant wait to go to them at WDW. I love wave pools and lazy rivers.

The burger looked delicious!

Glad you have the best boyfriend ever, I can only imagine what he did...:thumbsup2

:cheer2: you found the missing camera. :cheer2:

Just wanted to pop in and say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone who is celebrating today! :teeth:
I was hoping to get another update in before the holiday but ran out of time - I was literally typing furiously at my laptop, with my coat on, sitting by the door waiting for my roommate to take me to the train station

Well it's not so much what he did, but what he let me do
The sad thing is, I do have water shoes :headache: I have no idea why I didn't bring them to WDW! I brought six dresses but no water shoes

Just wanted to say I'm really enjoying your trip report. I started reading yesterday (links only) and it's great! I thought I remembered you from Nebo's TR. I have to like anyone who loves Alice like we do. So, do you have the Alice jeans from Disneyshopping like I do? :rotfl2:

Thanks! I miss Nebo's hilarious updates, he could even make a trip to the grocery store Disney-riffic. I have not seen these Alice jeans  I think I will have to visit the site today! My Disney store had some pretty cool Alice jeans for a while, but they didn't have any near my size.

Sorry about your rough day! It sounds like it got alot better! A great cheeseburger makes everything alright! ;)

That stinks about your shoe breaking! My DD-12 went to TL on a mommy daughter trip and had a good time. She loves BB better though. My faves at both parks are the lazy rivers.

Can't wait for what happens next!

Happy Thanksgiving btw!

Thanks - happy Thanksgiving!! I was really bummed about losing the shoes, I had gotten them as a reception gift at my friend's wedding last year and they were SO comfortable. On the plus side my bags were so full, it was helpful to be able to throw them out and not have to find a space for them in my suitcase on the way home  I will give BB a try next time, I'm going to have to start liking the water parks if i want jack to keep coming to WDW with me!

I can't believe how much I've missed - but finally all caught up!
All sounds great, though the frog incident was a bit freaky - unlike you I would have continued freaking out in the room!
We all love the water parks, TL was closed while we were there, but we did go to BB. It was a bit cool the day we went though!
ITA about the wave pool bottoms though - totally unecessary!
Di x

That poor little Disney frog! I just wish he hadn't startled me  I need to catch up on your TR too - now that I finally have a few days off I'm hoping to do lots of DISing this weekend :thumbsup2

I am having such fun reading your TR.
I have to say, you have sold me on going to Beaches and Cream.
Whenever my sister and I got to WDW together, we always plan to go there but never seem to make it.
Next time we will HAVE to stop. I love a good burger!:goodvibes

All caught up and totally enjoying your report!

Yikes on the frog jumping on you at WL! :scared1: I love all the pics you took of the resort though - looks beautiful! I will be there in 12 days for the first time!

The burger at B&C looks delicious!

Can't wait to find out why you have the best boyfriend ever! :goodvibes

I'm enjoying your trip report so much! I usually read at work where I can't post but I'm loving every word. We watched your WNTW show and you were delightful and represented all of the Disney lovers well!

Its been fun seeing the Wilderness Lodge pics. We stayed there in 2007 and our trip didn't end well (sickness) so its taken me awhile to think of the WL without bad memories. Time (and a recent trip that went fabulously) works wonders. Seeing your pics made me think back and remember the wonderful moments we had there instead of just thinking of the bad parts.

Looking forward to more!

How did I fall so far behind??? I need to spend more time DIS'ing!

Love your "weird" photos of Spectro!

You look like a movie star in the brown dress at Typhoon Lagoon! Clinton and Stacy would be so proud.

:scared1: that your beau wasn't immediately taken w/ Beach Club. I have to say I rarely used the buses. I preferred to walk into Epcot and hop on the monorail to MK and always walked to DHS. I hope it got better b/c I absolutely loved that resort. Although I suppose if it doesn't get any more popular that would be ok with me...

Right there with you on best cheeseburgers ever. I dream about that cheeseburger! Seriously. How sad. ;)

Cannot wait to find out why you have the best BF ever! And I think you said there was a surprise for him?? popcorn::

[I actually just got my hair cut last week and I love it. I have a really wonderful hairdresser (if anyone in Philly is looking for a recommendation, let me know! ;) ) and I went to him saying "I need a haircut, but I need you to cut it so it will still be relatively short when I go to Florida in 5 weeks". I loved what he did. I don't have many pictures of it but here is one from a music festival I was at yesterday - not a great shot, but you get the idea.

We raced out of B&C to the Beach Club Bus Stop
IMG_5155.jpg

And after a short wait, we got to the Magic Kingdom by 5:30 – hooray! Our first stop was the town hall. For this. Doesn’t he look thrilled? :cutie:
IMG_5163.jpg

Thanks to my panicky anxious rushrushrush attitude, we had time. We went for a stroll around the castle.
IMG_5164.jpg

And hit a couple of rides. Jack’s very first ride at the Magic Kingdom was Winnie The Pooh. With no wait! Marvelous.
And then we headed under the castle to a little boutique that was brand-new since my last visit. Jack had no idea what was going on, but he looked suspicious when I led him into the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – we were surrounded by little girls in princess outfits.
I checked him in for his “Cool Dude” treatment half an hour early, hoping we could get in sooner (nothing else in Fantasyland was worth riding at that point due to lonnng lines). This turned out to be a mistake because they were running 30 minutes behind, so we had a long wait. We sat in the lobby watching little girls come in. There was one tiny little blonde girl who I thought was absolutely adorable. Her dad was showing her all the Princess Aurora gear and helping her pick out her dress, shoes, wand, etc. The little girl just could not believe this was happening to her. She pointed at the dress with her eyes all wide and asked her dad, “I can have that??” and he said yes. And he handed her a pair of the pink sparkly shoes and she was like, “This is for ME???” She was so excited, it was really cute. :cutie:
As I checked in at the counter, the manager-type woman beamed at me and said “And what is the princess’s name?” I had to correct her, and she apologized – “We don’t get a lot of princes here.” Jack still wasn’t sure what was going on, but he didn’t look too thrilled. The manager talked me into getting a “Cool Dudette” (same thing) for myself.
When we were finally called, Jack went first. Our Fairy Godmother in Training was Marita, and Jack sat down in her chair with still no idea of what she was going to be doing to him. Marita was delightful, she had never done a Cool Dude before so she was excited to see Jack. He was disturbed that people kept telling him how few guys come into the BBB. While I was waiting for him one of the FGIT came over and said hello – it was AngieBelle! I felt bad because I was so surprised to see her (even though John told me I would probably run into her!) I was kind of taken aback when she said hi. Later I tried to find her to say goodbye but she was with a little princess. Darn…oh well, hi Angie!
Then it was my turn
IMG_5174.jpg

Honestly I regret getting this done for myself – it was hard to do the Cool Dude on me because having long hair, it couldn’t be spiked and the mickey head didn’t really come out. Oh well. Now I can say I’ve had a royal treatment at the BBB!
Nothing else in Fantasyland really appealed, so we headed out – I would like to have shown Jack Philharmagic, but he has VERY poor eyesight and cannot see 3-D. He can put the glasses on and see the image relatively clearly, but he doesn’t get the 3-D effect. Remember that for later.
So next we were off to Tomorrowland! With a pit stop at the teacups first. This was great fun – Jack spun our cup enthusiastically for the first half of the ride, and then spent the second half curled up in a ball regretting it.
I started off Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin by bragging about how I knew where some of the secret high-scoring targets are. Then he somehow hit something that got him a zillion points and beat me. :headache:
IMG_5183.jpg

A ride on my favorite Tomorrowland attraction, the TTA, was next. Followed by Space Mountain, which I actually enjoyed for once. It was smoother than I remembered. We had fun playing in the arcade where I beat Jack at basketball.
IMG_5186.jpg

He then beat me (although I didn’t take a picture of that). Apparently we also played pinball, because I took a picture of this
IMG_5184.jpg

Next it was turkey leg time! Jack bought one and ate the whole thing. We sat on a bench to eat and there was a security guard standing nearby who looked just like Uncle Fester from the Addams Family. Well I got close enough to read his nametag, and it actually said Fester! Hilarious. I didn’t get a picture, so just picture this guy in a Disney security uniform and hat.
fester2.jpg

We tried to find milkshakes next, but failed miserably, so were off to Adventureland instead. We went on pirates, which was frustrating because everyone on our boat kept taking flash photos every few seconds. Then we took a spin on the carpets, where Jack and I got into a row about how one is supposed to sit. They said ‘no single riders’ which he thought meant we both had to cram into the front seat of our magic carpet. He didn’t get that the two knobs on the carpet controlled different things, so I stuck my arm behind us to control the back one, since he insisted on us squishing in together in the front.
And still we had time before the park closed, so we ran off to Splash Mountain, Yay!
We were pretty sleepy so we ran out before the fireworks ended, hopping right on the bus. Since our attempt at finding a Magic Kingdom Milkshake failed, we stopped at Beaches and Cream on our way back to the room. Then to sleep!

Coming up: Hollywood Studios and sushi!

Thanks so much for that fantastic story! The pictures are great!

Thank you for the compliment! :goodvibes

Yes it is! Did you go? My very dear friend's band was playing.

You look like a movie star in the brown dress at Typhoon Lagoon! Clinton and Stacy would be so proud.

Thanks! I don't think Stacy and Clinton would be too thrilled with my Typhoon Lagoon outfit - it was covered in tiny little Mickey heads

I agree that the Beach Club is AMAZING. I always like the WDW resorts we stay at, but this was the first time I was head-over-heels in love. I can't wait to go back to BC! The cheeseburgers are haunting...I have not found another as good! Maybe the fact that I am eating them in WDW is what makes them so delicious :scratchin

I totally understand what you mean about having a bad event mar your memory of a WDW resort. I'm glad you were able to have a wonderful trip make up for your unfortunate memories! WL is a such a special resort. Being there was so calming!

All caught up and totally enjoying your report!

Yikes on the frog jumping on you at WL! :scared1: I love all the pics you took of the resort though - looks beautiful! I will be there in 12 days for the first time!

Oh wow - have a great time at WL!! Say hello to the froggies for me :teeth:

I am having such fun reading your TR.

Yes, definitely check it out! It is so much fun and the burgers are good - so is the ice cream! Plus that resort is so beautiful, it's a good excuse to go and check it out!

I think it may be official. You have the best BF ever! He went to BBB for the Cool Dude?? :worship: What a cute surprise. I'm glad you had fun. :goodvibes

I am with you on profound love for the Beach Club. It is my new favorite. I am scheming this very evening to work Beaches n' Cream into my Dec itinerary!

Wow, way to go Jack, cool dude hair. Sorry yours didn't turn out the way you wanted, but you look cute together anyway.
I love love love Beaches and Cream, No Way Jose' with only vanilla ice cream. Plenty to share. Yummy!

Kelly, I read along with your "What Not to Wear" thread and watched your awesome episode :thumbsup2. I was so happy to see this TR by you. I really enjoy your writing style, you always make me smile.

It was so wonderful to read about friends having a great time at WDW and your DBF is great for playing along. I can't wait to read more.

What a good sport going along with the BBB thing not knowing what was going to happen. You are right, best boyfriend ever! :thumbsup2

I was surprised at what a good sport he was about it. He'd probably be pretty mad if he saw all the pictures I posted though

You know I have always been so full after eating at B&C I have never gotten one of their amazing huge sundaes! Something to try for next time definitely!

Why didn't I think to take Marc to get the Cool Dude!? Drats!

You definitely should on your next trip! And don't tell him what it is, it's more fun that way

Yes, I was glad he didn't bail. I made it sound like that this was a big thing I had set up months in advance and paid a non-refundable huge amount for. I figured that would keep him from trying to get out of it....of course when the bill came he saw it was only $8

Your BF is such a good sport and the Mickey was very subtle, too! DH got a haircut last year at the Harmony Barbershop in MK and they asked it he wanted anything painted on the back. Wanting to be a good sport (b/c dd had just had ALL her hair chopped off for Locks of Love), he said "surprise me". He was rewarded with a flower garden on the back of his head. :rotfl2:

Poor dh was not amused!

What a good boyfriend! I'm impressed.

And I think the Mickey is adorable. Just don't tell him I said "adorable", okay? ;)

He was a "cool dude" and the best boyfriend ever! What a fun experience. There is no way I could get my DS14 to go in there. I've asked my DD8 if she wants to go but she said she would rather get her face painted again. Last time it was a unicorn and very sparkly. She said she may get a spider this time. :confused3 I'm sure it will be cute whatever she chooses. They do such a good job.:thumbsup2
