What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

Loved your update as usual. :goodvibes We have been wanting to go to Beaches and Cream forever now and have not made it yet. I am hoping on our next trip. It looks really neat.

Thanks for keeping this report going. I really enjoy it.

I hope you are having a great holiday season. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a lovely day! We pushed ourselves so hard during our trip that we just wanted to nap towards the end of the week. :lmao:

How did I miss that there are manatees? I love manatees! They are on the list for our next trip! :thumbsup2

Hi there,

Loved the updates, though they did depress me slightly as I realised I did not sample the fiesta margharita from either the cantina or the vendor stand, indeed, nowhere in Mexico. No fiesta margharita for me!

And more depressing news - it will be 2010 at the earliest before I can rectify this shocking error! :sad2:

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

just wanted to pop in and say hi, i'm new to posting but have been reading for a couple months now and i've read you're entire trip report up until now.

the title originally caught my eye, and then when i saw you were a couple in my peer group, i stuck around!

Next we were off to Maelstrom! Pretty much a walk-on, I think. We were sitting down in the third row when someone behind us tapped me on the shoulder – it was punkin413, aka Dawn! Memom had told me that she & Erica (Vandyfan10) would be at WDW the same time as us, so it was cool to run into another couple of DISers. After the ride we talked a bit while waiting in the little village outside the theater. I think they were getting ready to go to the Halloween party that night! We had to get going to our lunch ADR so we said goodbye – I wish I hadn’t forgot to take a picture :headache: I was just so surprised to meet some other DISers. Dawn & Erica were so friendly and it was nice to have a few minutes to talk to them. Hopefully we’ll run into them again someday! If you want to read about their adventures, their joint TR is here

i totally just got a shout-out....i feel super cool! :cool2: and you linked our TR and everything????? you are a rock star. it was so nice to meet you guys and i'm so bummed we had the same picture amnesia and didn't get a picture with you!

by the way, jack is cracking me up. funny guy you got there!

and i think it's so cute that you got mickey to sign a grandparents day card. :goodvibes

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO OUR OWN TV STAR!!

You look fine, it's okay to be tired at WDW. ;)

Soarin is "Magnificently Magical", I agree with your BF. :wizard:

I just adore Mexican Donald, I got the cuttest pics of my DD w/him last year. Hugs and all. :) The margaritta looks yummy!

Cute idea for your Gramma's card. :thumbsup2

On a Christmas note - I didn't get a Disney bag today but I got a Tinkerbell wallet....:rotfl2: And I thought of you when my DD opened up her WALL-E DVD and plush toy. :santa:

I was so excited to be off to Pleasure Island to meet Crystal (wdwpolyprincess) and visit the Adventurers Club, both for the first time! Yay! Let’s just hop on the bus and go!

DSC_0651.jpg

….Bus? Helllloooo?

DSC_0653.jpg

Again, the bus took forrrrever to show up at the Beach Club.
I took a picture of my delightful new shoes to pass the time.
DSC_0655.jpg

I was frustrated with how long it was taking us to get to PI (I think when all was said and done, it was about 90 minutes!) because I knew Crystal was waiting for us at AC and I also knew she was really, really sick with a cold. And in the middle of moving to a new apartment, which did not yet have electricity. I was so glad she came out anyway despite all that, because it was so fun to meet her!
DSC_0658.jpg

I had been reading her posts on the DISBoards and her blog for ages and felt like she was a kindred spirit. It was so great to finally meet her in person now that she works at WDW. (If you ever catch her at the AllStars, say hi!)
First order of business was clearly to get a round of Kungalooshes, which were red and frozen and almost a bit toooo sweet for me (there’s a phrase I don’t think I have ever said before!). They came with collectible plastic glasses which we took home and use all the time.

DSC_0672.jpg

I am so kicking myself for not checking this place out sooner, because at this point it was less than a month before PI shut down, and the place was PACKED. We watched the parade, which was highly amusing. Crystal is an AC veteran so she knew to get us in to the study in time to snag seats for a lecture by Fletcher Hodges, which was hilarious. I think she knew the actor playing him, and he called her out a few times, which was funny.
Shortly after that Jack’s friend from high school showed up. She had moved to Orlando a few years ago to work at Disney – she works at Boatwrights. It was nice to meet her too, and I was glad Jack had a friend to hang out with while I was talking with Crystal.
The big show at the library was about to start, and it was PACKED. As in, we couldn’t get in  So we spent a bit of time hanging out in the mask room
DSC_0660.jpg

And Crystal & I made some attempts to peer around the door of the library to try and see the stage, which didn’t work out too well. But we could hear everything, and the show was hilarious. According to my notes, “I am especially fond of Emile Bleehall and his song and cow.” Not totally sure what that means now, but it sounds fun!
Crystal left around 1AM as she was still feeling sick, but the rest of us stayed until they kicked us out. Then we headed for the cigar club, which I had no idea even existed.
DSC_0680.jpg

I declined having a cigar with Jack and his friends, but I did order a Malibu & Coke. It’s probably telling that this is the only other picture I have from the evening
DSC_0662.jpg

While we were talking Jack’s friend tried to convince him to move to Florida by explaining how the Orlando air had cleared up her asthma (Jack is severely asthmatic)…I was grateful to her ;) Every trip to WDW makes me want to move there more!
After that Jack’s friend was wonderful enough to give us a ride back to the Beach Club so that we didn’t have to mess with those s-l-o-w buses again, and we crashed! It was probably about 3 AM, and we had to get up early for our last day at WDW :sad2:

Coming up: Ear aches! And a marathon of rides!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season and getting ready to ring in 2009!! :wizard:

Yay! Your daughter was lucky to get such a fantastic movie for Christmas ;) Merry Christmas to you too!!

He is funny, that's the main reason I keep him around  It was so fun to meet you guys and I need to get over to your TR and catch up now that my crazy December is almost over, woohoo!

Merry Christmas Di!!!
No fiesta margarita! That's one of the few traditions I have at WDW....well now you have a good reason to go back ;) 2010 is barely a year away, and you can spend 2009 planning a wonderful trip! :teeth: I am in the super-early stages of maybe possibly planning a trip this fall with Jack and a few friends, though I also want to buy a house this year....hmmm, priorities :scratchin

Sounds like a lovely day! We pushed ourselves so hard during our trip that we just wanted to nap towards the end of the week. :lmao:

How did I miss that there are manatees? I love manatees! They are on the list for our next trip! :thumbsup2

Oh you must see Lou and Boc, the manatees! They are so fun to watch, especially if you can catch them while they are eating. They look so funny racing around their aquarium chomping down on lettuce. Make sure to put it on one of your lists for May ::yes::

Loved your update as usual. :goodvibes We have been wanting to go to Beaches and Cream forever now and have not made it yet. I am hoping on our next trip. It looks really neat.

Thanks for keeping this report going. I really enjoy it.

I hope you are having a great holiday season. :thumbsup2

Thanks and happy holidays! Definitely make time for Beaches and Cream on your next trip if you can, I still find myself dreaming about their cheeseburgers. And if you've never been to the Beach Club, it's a wonderful tranquil place to wander around :cloud9:

yummy Margarita!!! I love it when the characters comment on others being on your clothes and bags! It's so cute!

I got such a kick out of how offended Donald was by my outfit! He was fantastic!

Thanks for another great update! I can't wait for more. Enjoy your time off for Christmas..I have 2 more days of work and then I'm off till jan 5!!!

Thanks! I hope you are enjoying your vacation! Today was back to work for me, ouch :headache: At least having New Years Day off will break the week up a bit.

we went to the AC on that trip too and i'm bummed that it's no longer around. i did hear a rumor that disney is going to be opening a new theme park called disney's night kingdom where you would enter the park through an AC-like club. sounds really cool but it's also really expensive. and it's just in the planning stages right now anyway.

Just chiming in to say how much I'm enjoying your TR - have a happy new year!

I must say that I am enjoying reading your TR! I even went back and found your episode of WNTW and watched it online. It was GREAT!! I love all the pictures you've taken. You and Jack are both so cute.

Can't wait to read more but sorry that I didn't catch this TR until almost the end. popcorn::

I never made it to the Adventurer's Club and it is one of the few things I really regret. I think I would have loved it there. Sounds like you guys had a good time.

I can't believe I missed the AC update! Sounds like you had a really good time. Alas, I never made it there. At least I can live vicariously through your trip report. :goodvibes

Great update! I'm sad my DH and I never made it to AC!

I can't believe it's your last day already!

Oh no! You what?:scared1:

"After that Jack’s friend was wonderful enough to give us a ride back to the Beach Club so that we didn’t have to mess with those s-l-o-w buses again, and we crashed!"

You scared me! At first I thought you meant you had a CAR crash! LOL! I now understand you meant crash as in you were TIRED and "crashed" into bed! LOL! Now don't do that again to us! ;)

The AC sounds like it was so much fun! I, too, noticed no asthma while we were in Orlando....wonder what it is?

Have a Happy New Year!

It is so very, very hard to wake up on your last day at WDW. Eventually I did drag myself out of bed to shower and start packing. On top of it being our last day, Jack had developed a nasty earache, and I was a bit worried about him flying with his ear bothering him.
We got our bags together – which took ages, it was difficult to cram all my souvenirs into a few carry-ons and two checked bags! – and headed downstairs. There we were able to check our two suitcases. Since I had bought my airplane tickets three days before the new charge for checking luggage kicked in, checking the bags was free. Yay! After getting our boarding passes we checked our four carry-ons with bell services and started to walk over to Epcot….FOR THE LAST TIME. Boohoo.
Jack thinks it’s hilarious to frown whenever I try to take his picture. I do not agree.
IMG_5251.jpg

Here he looks really miserable, which I’ll chalk up to his earache. I also am not sure what I was thinking with that outfit – the Disney jeans are one thing, but to pair it with a busy floral t-shirt? Really, Kelly?
IMG_5254.jpg

It was so terribly hot this day, we stopped in Club Cool for some vegibeta and smart melon (no more Beverly for us, thanks). Then we headed out of Epcot via the magtastical monorail!
IMG_5256.jpg

The transfer at the TTC to the MK monorail took forever (overall our luck with transportation this trip was not so hot), but I am so glad Jack got to ride the monorail. We were hungry so after we leapt off the monorail and charged down Main Street, we hit my favorite Magic Kingdom eatery, Ye Olde Columbia Harbor House
Lighthouse Sandwich for me
IMG_5257.jpg

And tuna for Jack
IMG_5258.jpg

I loved the tuna…I think I will get that next time! Next we went to Haunted Mansion because it had a mere 5 minute wait. I spent a little more time checking out the pet cemetery this time, since I had never noticed it before this trip. I got a kick out of a lot of the inscriptions on the stones – “Little Waddle saw the truck, but Little Waddle didn’t duck!”
Splash Mountain was next, which was heavenly on such a hot day. We got Fast Passes for BTMRR, then went to Tomorrowland and bought Mickey bars. Mine was melting so fast as I was eating that it was a less-than-enjoyable experience, but darnit, I wanted Jack to experience the wonder that is a Mickey chocolate head stuffed with vanilla ice cream!
Next was Buzz Lightyear, where I hit a huge target almost right away, and was ahead for most of the ride! And then somehow Jack still managed to beat me! I think he cheats.
IMG_5259.jpg

It was time for us to use our Fast Passes so we headed back to Frontierland, while I wondered why all my favorite rides were in complete opposite ends of the park. Jack is asthmatic, and with his intense ear pain, was not appreciating the racing to-and-fro we had to do to get to all the rides. It was so hot, so after BTMRR we headed out of the park.
As we were leaving I stopped in a shop to buy a license plate with the castle on it for the front of my car. The CM who checked me out noticed how very sad I was to be leaving, and reminded me that I can always return. I was already trying to figure out how I could afford 8 days at the Beach Club next year. Boohooohoo.
Both Jack and I fell asleep on the bus back to the Beach Club. We hit up Beaches and Cream for a mint chip waffle cone for Jack, and Hurricane Hannah’s for a strawberry sunrise for me. This is pretty much bliss:
IMG_5260.jpg

I was sad to be leaving though, so I was quite teary-eyed. I must have asked Jack a hundred times if we could come back!
We had time, so figured we would check out the arcade. I got a Mickey Steamboat Willie quarter for my scrapbook
IMG_5261.jpg

And then we had to play our very favorite game, air hockey!
IMG_5263.jpg

Jack beat me, of course. And then soon, we were standing at bell services waiting for our bags. A boring old Mears bus came to pick us up, which we should have taken as a bad omen. The ride to the airport was a bit of a mess. We were lucky enough to grab a front seat together (no video was shown though, boohoo). Slowwwwly we drove to the BoardWalk. Then slowwwwly we drove to CBR (which was kind of neat, I had never seen it before). At this point it was 4:30 and the buses were all backed up. Ours was standing room only. And the driver was a total grump. I could hear his radio and it was interesting to listen to the manager try to sort everything out. I think what happened was one driver forgot to make a couple of their scheduled stops and it caused a crazy backup.
We got to MCO around 5:15, which was fine, I don’t think our flight was until 7ish. We had a good dinner at the Marconi Grill – spaghetti and meatballs for me, chicken calzone for Jack. We went through security and got to the gate with a few minutes to spare.
Jack’s parents picked us up at the airport, and told us we had just missed a crazy storm – I had never heard of a hurricane warning happening in downtown Philly, but apparently there was one that day! Jack and I had noticed that our flight was the first of the day to Philadelphia that didn’t have a huge delay. We were really lucky.

And thus ends our trip! I am sorry it took me so long to write this thing, but thank you to all who have stuck with me. This was a wonderful trip with two people I absolutely love – it really made it seem like two trips in one! I had a great time planning a week in WDW with two people who were totally up for anything I wanted to do.

I am, of course, working on a plan to go back. Over Christmas, a friend of mine who lives near my parents stopped by for a visit (I met him on the college program and my first trip report was about a trip I took with him). Somehow I convinced him that he and his wife needed to go to WDW this year, and that Jack and I should go with him. He actually went home and talked to his wife about it, and while nothing is definite, we may be heading down in the fall! I’d love to stay at Beach Club again, but I’ve also been interested in checking out the Fort Wilderness Cabins, which might be fun to do with another couple (and anyone else we can sucker into joining us). ;) So hopefully that will happen….either way, I’ll get back there somehow soon!!

Oh yeah, and I gotta start that scrapbook!

Happy 2009 to all, I hope you had a wonderful New Years and I hope we all get to WDW (or somewhere equally wonderful) this year ;) I look forward to reading about all of your adventures!
