What medicines are in your "first aid kit" for Disney trips

FYI - in Target's dollar spot right now they have tiny first aid kits (like 2 bandaids and antiseptic wipes) and bug bite kits (with something like calamine lotion). I will probably grab a couple of these to bring along.

I usually bring the following:

Excedrin
Advil
Children's Motrin or Tylenol
Imodium
Sudafed
Neosporin
Aloe for Sunburns

I bring the smallest bottle of Excedrin because that is what I use most often. For the rest, I bring sample size packets or maybe 4 of each pill.

In the event that you needed more, you could purchase it in the resort store.

This is what I take with me daily...
bandaids
Melaleuca Oil
Melaleuca Antibiotic cream
tylenol

For vaca I will take those and...
all my daily meds for diabetes,
my imitrex
ibuprofen,
tums
laytex gloves
and maybe adult "Protection"

LOL i pack light
got head and belly covered what else could i really need?

The only meds I take into the park are ibuprofen, Immodium, and Tums. I also take our prescription meds, of course, and OTC med for colds, but that stays in the hotel.

BTW, last year I found myself in *dire* need of more Immodium while in the MK, and the CM at the information area told me to go to the first aid station, which is a LONG walk when you're in dire need of Immodium! :earseek: Luckily, I found out that most of the stores along Main Street had OTC meds at the counter.

In addition to the usual Tums, if we are flying, I alway's pack some individual Metamucil packets. You can dump them into a water bottle to use them.

Flying completely throws my stomach for a loop and they are mild and get my tummy straightened out again.

I always have:

Excedrine Migraine
Midrin and also Zomig (both my prescription migraine meds)
Tylenol PM
Sudafed
Immodium
Gas-X

I usually just throw all my meds in a ziploc and then when we go to the parks, I will put what I need for the day, usually a few Excedrin Migraines and some Immodium, in a snack size bag and throw it in my camera bag. I refill as needed when I get back to the timeshare each night.

I always make sure I have bandaids with me, I'm allergic to most brands of bandaids, so I make sure I bring what I know I can use in case I can't find it down in FL.

Most things I would need have already been covered by others. I have become a lighter is better person the last few years. From backpack to shoulder bag and finally to cargo shorts now. With limited space available I purchased a waterproof ID/Credit card holder for in park meds. The shell is hard with a llatching lid. In that I carry those individually packaged meds and a bandaid or 2. If I need to take a prescription med an empty 12 tablet asprin tin fits inside perfectly. It iis now just one of those items I scoop up shove in a pocket and off to the parks I go.

Sounds silly but we take just about every medication we have in the cabinet at home. It would be my luck that if I didn't have it someone would need it so I take it along just in case. DH laughs at me for packing a medicine cabinet in a bag but he's grateful if he needs anything!
:rotfl:

Too funny - I am the same way and my husband finds it humerous. But we always have what we need. I carry it in my small backpack in a ziploc bag.

I travel pretty light with the drugs/first aid supplies.

I have an old Altoids tin I generally carry in my bag. It always has in it:

Immodium (2)
Tylenol (2)
tiny (trial size) bottle of contact lens drops for DH
Lactaid (6)
antibacterial wipe (1)
glasses cleaner wipe (1)
safety pins (2)
bandaids (2)

I generally use the small 2 pill packets for most of these, except for the Immodium which comes individually foil packed and the Lactaid, which is cheaper to buy in larger bottles than single serve packets so I generally wrap up about half a dozen in a bit of plastic wrap and stuff it in there.

When I use something out of the tin, I refill it that night.

My boyfriend teases me because I am always ready.

Aleve
Ibuprofen
Imodium AD
Sudafed Cold & Cough
Flonase
Claritin

Here's a tip -- if you are already packing pain reliever and Benedryl, then you don't also need a "PM" version of a pain reliever. Those are simply pain reliever and the same medicine found in Benedryl!

Not quite medicine but something for blisters or for stopping them before they develop. Luckily I have not sufferd them while in the parks but I take Moleskin anyway. My friend was sure glad I did when she got hotspots after the first couple of hours!

I think other people have covered the other things I'd bring.

Myst

Yeah, I think I'm going to take moleskin, insoles for my shoes and also I have heard body glide is great! :rotfl:

This is what I bring (medicine wise). The items in bold are also in my first-aid kit in my fanny pack in smaller quantities. I had to put the family size cosmetiic bag from Lands End on my Christmas list a few years ago to carry everything. It is so big, I've checked it for my flight when I needed the room in a bag on the way home.

Aloe Vera with lidocaine
Advil Liquid Gels - these are the greatest!
Advil Children's
Benadryl
Bonine
Echinacea
Polysporin
Insect Repellent
Per Diem
Moleskin
Pepto-Bismol Tablets
Sunscreen
Tums
Zi-Cam
Airborne
Foot lotion
Chapstick
Bandaids
Antiseptic Wipes
Aspergum
Sore Throat Strips
Wet Wipes

I've had several opportunities to use my first aid supplies for my family and others on various trips. My first-aid kit makes my fanny pack a bit bulky...but who cares! I still remember the lady who fell while running down the ramp to Soarin' in DL. She was bleeding. While we waited in line, I was able to give her an antiseptic wipe so she could clean her wound, kleenex to dry it, and a bandaid to cover it. She was SO grateful. Another time a woman was angry at her son who had gotten ice cream all over his face outside the Living Seas at Epcot. I gave her some wet-wipes.

I take most of the standard "just in case" stuff already listed, but Imodium pills and Pepto Bismol seem to be what gets used the most by my family. They came in really handy on our last trip after the Great Ohana Shrimp Pig Out.

The only things DH and I bring into the parks with us are contact lens drops, liquid bandaid stuff, Advil, and Imitrex. We've never needed anything else - although considering how accident prone he is, that's a pleasant suprise!

When I started this thread, I was really asking about the meds because I always take them on the trip with me. I don't take anything but headache stuff to the parks. I am surprised how many people take stuff into the parks. Well, I don't have children yet though. lol. :earsboy:

We really don't bring much into the parks. However, I bring a lot of the stuff that has been mentioned (but keep it at the hotel) A few things I bring that I don't think have been mentioned are:

*I bring an extra pair of contacts...if one falls out at the water park ect, then i hvae an extra pair. I also bring my glasses just incase.
*I take Allegra-D for my terrible allergies...my allergies can get especially bad when I travel.
*Nasonex nose spray again for allergies.

Its also been mentioned, but tums or something like it is very important. Eating restaurant food/junk fod for a week can be tough on your belly! :)

I always pack swimear. Daughters, and DH both get swimmer's ear.

Claritin- Different climates can bring on allergies you did not know you had.

I usually just throw everything into 1 bottle, Or break up the little cards, so they fit in a snack size ziplock. Not too much to carry.

every stomache medicine known to man kind lol...... immodium , tums, gas x, mylanta, pepto... and I am not exagerating lol.... a tummy ache could kill a vacation!!!! Be prepared lol :cool1:

I agree with that!

I pack hydrocortisone now, picked up some red tide while at the beach last year in FL. Ha ha, Rash city. I went to a local large supermarket and they sold travel packets of meds etc. I just picked up a bunch of general, so when in need it was right there for us. But I went and bought a small tackle/craft box (2"x8"x"10") and put everything in there. No fumbling in a bag. It was clear so security could view into it,and everything was plainly labeled in lil individual packets.

Im guilty of carrying a 'medicine bag' with me everywhere I go with me in my backpack.

What did we do before zip lock bags? I wish I had invented them! I don't think I take anything that hasn't already been mentioned. I take a carry on bag full of med and rarely use any of it except my presciptions. Do you carry your prescription meds in their original containers or you you put them in the Mon-Sun pill box? I'm diabetic so I have a lot of it.

I did want to mention sunburn lotion and talc. We like the baby powder with corn starch.
