What Is Your Occupation?

I am an Enginerd.

Specifically, I design bridges and other transportation related structures. I've put in enough OT this summer to pay for about 75% of our February Disney vacation.

Estimator for a label manufacturer and part time nursing student. DH is a construction laborer/foreman and worked in concrete until this spring. Due to the slowing economy in our area, he needed to find a different job and now works for a general contractor and does all sorts of fun things.

When I was married in 1964 my title was "housewife". In the 70's that term was outsted by the women's lib movement and I became a "domestic engineer". Today the title has evolved to SAHM. But, now I am a grandma. My question is - if my kids are grown with families of their own, am I now a housewife again, or is that still passé?

I'm a demand planner for a company that sells to Walmart. I try to forecast how much of our product Walmart will need, why it isn't on the shelves or warehouse and how to get it there quickly. There is lots of other stuff, but that is a basic description.

I'm a slacker & proud of it.:cool1:

Took maternity break w/last son & never went back to work full time, have worked as secretary, admin., bookkeeper, direct sales, warehouse supervisor, bartender & owned a cleaning company, still have my real estate license too...think I'm retired LOL.

DH is a steelworker (go Steelers!).

I am an Operations Manager at an insurance co that's going out of business so I'll be unemployed in September. I'm ready for a new career so this thread is giving me some ideas!

Now this makes me nervous: DH was a fire truck mechanic but drove 100 miles a day to get to work. He just started a new job "in concrete"! 1 mile from home! We save tons on gas. He's driving a cement mixer 50-60 hours per week but we're told it will drop to 32 hours in the winter.
