What is the QUIETEST DVC resort?

Hi - Looking for opinions on what you think is the QUIETEST DVC Resort? I have such a hard time sleeping if it's too noisy. I know often it depends on the luck of having quiet neighbors... so I have learned to bring ear plugs.

We once stayed at the Grand Floridian and I heard booming music from the Magic Kingdom (some sort of Grad Night Celebration). Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge (not the villas) and I heard flushing toilets. Stayed at OKW next to a quiet pool and hot tub - not so good either as guests were up until after midnight. So exactly where are the quiet DVC Resorts?

AKV at Kidani is also said to be quiet.

I never heard a peep while staying at Saratoga Springs. In fact, our room actually seemed a bit too remote and quiet for us, lol.

The quietest room at any DVC property will always be the one the furthest away from where people want to be. Stay away from elevators, stairwells, pools, playgrounds bus stops and lobbies and you'll be fine.

BTW - I also walked over and experienced one of OKW's "quiet pools" and also found it to be party central. Considering that many OKW members are getting up there in age, it was pretty impressive noise wise.

Quiet pools have nothing to do with sound levels. Only the lack of theming. And sometimes we ancient OKW members bring along younger relatives or friends.

OKW is very quiet. BCV is pretty quiet, too, except around 9-9:20PM each night. VWL is very quiet.

The fire works from Illuminations echo against the building and are very loud. So you might not see them, but you will hear them.

There are some really quiet sections of SSR and OKW - just look at a building map when you area checking in and ask for a villa away from 'quiet' pools - laundry - elevators etc...

And I don't hear a thing from outside. This is our first stay. We're in 8128 and it has THE BEST view of the Castle. It's a studio (more than enough room for me and the hubby.) Too bad there are no fireworks tonight Just my luck. LOL. But I just love it here!!!

We had a savannah room at Kidani and it was VERY quiet. We loved it.

Last year, we were at SSR and had a room overlooking the water with the fountain. The sound of the fountain might give you just enough "white noise" to absorb any extraneous noises.

We think OKW is one of the quietest resort we have stayed at in a long time. We request in the bldg 52-56 areas which is one of the most distant from the hospitality house area.

SSR.. Once you close your door, the outside world is gone. But just to be sure, I always travel with my turbo fan... Drowns out any noises.

Geezer is a funny word...ok, seriously VWL was pretty quiet.

We have stayed at both SSR and Kidani. Both were extremely quiet. I would have sworn we were the only people in both resorts on some days.

I just did a split stay at BLT and VWL and BLT was very quiet! I couldn't even hear the people in the halls. On the other hand VWL was AWFUL! The walls seemed to be paper thin. It may have been bad luck on our part but there seemed to be crying kids in all the rooms around us and I could even here the family putting away their dishes in the one bedroom next to us. I hardly slept a wink.

BLT was very quiet during our stay a few weeks ago. We were pleasantly surprised since it was during peak season (end of March/early April). We were in a MK view room on the 9th floor.

Any resort that is near fireworks at a theme park will not be the resort for you. The times for the fireworks vary depending on any special nights.

When we stayed at BLT we did not notice much in the way of noise. However, if you left your balcony door open it was noisy. And when the door was closed you could hear the muffled sound of fireworks. And one early evening we could hear the people above us. I couldn't figure out what they were doing but it sounded like the kids were jumping from the bed to floor to couch over and over and then it suddenly stopped (only lasted 5 minutes).

I would think Kidani Village would be a good choice, especially if you ask for a room far from the lobby and elevators.

The only problem I can see is that at any WDW resort, families are pretty noisy going to and from their rooms. They seem to forget that sounds from the hallways are amplified into the rooms. And kids love the echoing sounds they can make going down the hall. I figure that when we go to a resort where kids are a factor we'll have to expect kids will be kids and sometimes parents are kids too.

Have you ever considered a white noise machine or something that plays relaxing night sounds? You could start using it at home to get used to it and then bring it to WDW. It must be awful to have problems sleeping at a resort due to noise. I hope you find a resort that works for you.

SSR is a very quiet resort but they do unfortunately have the "Turbo" toilets. I really, really hate these things. They are nowhere near as bad to listen to at SSR as they are at BLT. I think it is the compactness of the BLT building but I felt like I was surrounded by those things when I stayed there.

BLT is surprisingly quiet considering its location except for the toilets and the nightly Electric Light Parade which doesn't last very long.

I haven't stayed in OKW for a while. Can't remember the toilet flushing situation there so that leads me to believe that they may not have them.
