What is the most overrated Restaurant at Disney

LeCellier was overrated for our family. It was decent....but I've had better steaks at local restaurants at home. The potatoes were cold, I think they were meant to be served that way? The bread was hard....we looked forward to the bread selection as everyone just raves about it...but it wasn't good at all. The best part of the meal....dessert LOL Glad we ate there when it was 1 credit and our DDP included tip and appetizers LOL

I am in the minority with Chef Mickey's and Hollywood and Vine though. We enjoy both for breakfast (which from what I've read is the best meal time for both restaurants and the complaints are revolving more around lunch and dinner seating times).

I also thought Cinderella's was a bit overrated. It's 2 credits and my goodness that dining area seemed horribly small. I thought we'd see more of the castle, but you walk in...get your picture taken and then straight to the dining area. It was uncomfortable how closely we were seated with other guest and it made it difficult for the kids to get up and get their photos taken with the characters. Still, definitely a must do.....the food was good and everyone has to eat in the castle at least once LOL

LeCellier - C'mon, it's just okay.

California Grill - very spotty food and service for a "signature" place.

Ankershus. Everyone talks about the great cold bar and it is just that, cold. I got a bagel but found no toaster to get it a little warm to spread some butter/cream cheese on it. The princesses spent very little time with us. Lots of people complain about CRT princesses being rushed, but these girls didn't really want to talk to us. Very disappointing considering how many people around here rave about it.

Tusker House would be my second choice, but not because of food. The service and character interaction leave a lot to be desired.

I have always loved Le Cellier but I do not think it is worth 2CS. I am hoping to go once more this year for lunch but for 2CS they can keep it. Steak is good at the GF.
I did not like Jikos at all!

Whispering Canyon Cafe, for us. The way people rave about the skillet, we expected something delicious. Blech! Maybe we hit it on a bad night, but the antics weren't that funny, either. Just us? Maybe we're weird. Wait, no, we ARE weird!

This thread is funny. So many here say Ohana and Le Cellier are overrated but they're still two of the hardest ADRs to get. And I have to say, we've eaten at Le Cellier several times and Ohana once. All of our meals have been awesome! Totally our opinion and everyone is most definitely entitled to theirs.

Personally, Artist Point was a major let down for us. Just didn't live up to what I expected based off of all the reviews I had read.

Overrated would be a tie between Le Cellier and Whispering Canyons. I think Disney as a nerve to charge 2 TS credits for lunch there and I also think it seems alot more popular than it actually is, due to the small sized restaurant and limited number of ADR's. We find it too dark in the restaurant. Bread basket has gotten chinsy since thy elminated the tall sourdough breadsticks. I find their steak to be tender, but all of their food in general is waaay too salty for my taste. I also found the steaks at CA Grill and Yachtsman to be alot better.....or at least worth 2 TS credits.

Whispering Canyons breakfast skillet was really disappointing. The eggs tasted fake and powdered, bacon was thin and Mcdonalds quality, the rest was greasy. The only thing edible were the waffles, but that was alot of $ to spend on just waffles. Servers were really funny and we were entertained, but I just dont think it was worth the hype.

By contrat, I think the most UNDER rated restaurants are The Biergarten and also San Angel Inn. We LOVE the Biergarten! Beer and food are great and a nice variety and change from the norm. Servers have always been fantastic. Theming and entertainment are awesome. We tried San Angel Inn for our first time for lunch on our honeymoon and despite the poor reviews, we thought it was great! Atmosphere was so pretty and romantic, our table did not feel squished or too close to others. Our waitress was great and incredibly sweet, and we found the food to be quite good! The only yucky thing was the salsa, but we ordered guacamole for our chips and that was delicious. Drinks were yummy too.

That was once true about LeCellier, but now when I go online I can almost get a dinner reservation at will.

LOVE this !

Would love to see an Addendum to the thread.

"___Blank____" was overrated BUT... "____Blank___" was UNDERRATED....

IMHO... Le Cellier is a FAVORITE... Yak and Yeti is a FAVORITE... Teppan EDO is a FAVORITE..... CRT is a FAVORITE !

Remember folks... you are eating THEME PARK FOOD.... So why are you comparing to Ruth Chris? OKAY albeit I do NOT consider Disney to be a Theme park per sey.

But really? Where else do you go to enjoy TSMM Type entertainment followed by HBD dining? Soarin' entertainment followed by Le Cellier dining?
Space Mountain ... followed by CRT Dining?

I'm Probably Pollyana Positive to a Fault.... but I really truly do not have a "Overrated" comment because I really did LOVE LOVE Le Cellier along with CRT, Teppan Edo, etc....

So if you are going to be "negative" about an "overrated" restaurant... Let's SEE if you can be "positive" too....

Huge task at hand.... (HUGS)

If you ask me it's Coral Reef. Mediocre food. Terrible service. The loudest restaurant I've ever been in.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority on this one...but I'm saying Cinderellas Castle. I had very high expectations for the food and experience and was let down with both. I'm not saying it was horrible by any means...just not that great and not worth the price. I'm glad we did it though...just to say we ate there...but I don't plan on going back. I thought our other character meals were just as great and a lot more fun.

When I look at Le Cellier, I compare it to other Signature Restaurants, which is the category and price point where Disney has it now. Compared to other Signatures it falls well short in terms of quality of food, atmosphere and service. I feel like lots of people think that their trip won't be complete unless they get an ADR at Le Cellier, which IMHO makes it overrated. You can get far superior steak at the Yachtsman, Flying Fish, Brown Derby, California Grill, Shulas etc etc.

LeCellier. Don't get me wrong, I like their food, but IMHO, the atmosphere sucks. The tables are all crammed together, and if you get a table for two, you're lucky if your entrees and appitizers and drinks fit on it.

We hated this too! We liked the food but it was so packed and we felt like we were on top of other people. You could hear everyone talking at the tables next to us, it was awful.

I thought the food at Cinderella's Royal Table wasn't great (dinner) but the experience of being in the castle and the Princesses was worth it for us. We want to try breakfast next time.

I think Disney has over rated Le Cellier because it is a 2TS now for lunch & dinner. I do not think that it lives up to deserving the honor of being a 2TS meal.

We will not spend our dining credits at Le Cellier because it is a 2TS meal. In our opinion, we would rather make a reservation at Yachtsmans.

:thumbsup2

I find the food at CRT to be pretty grotesque, but I can't say its the "most overrated" because I don't feel I've gone there for the food.

But that's why "overrated" is an entirely subjective exercise. Overrated by definition, means that many people are rating the restaurant very highly. If everyone agreed that the restaurant stunk, then it wouldn't be overrated!

Thus what this thread is really asking is..... What restaurant is rated highly by most people, but you individually disagree?

Reminds me of a Yogi Berra quote... "Nobody goes to that restaurant anymore, it's too crowded."

CRT (breakfast & dinner)
WCC (please put more effort into the food than the antics),
And sadly, Cali Grille (we've had 2 recent bleh meals here and have taken it off our list until after the refurb & I see some reviews)

Le Cellier is easy to take a cheap shot at so I won't ;)
