What is the most overrated Restaurant at Disney

I know it's totally a matter of opinion but it would be helpful to know what frequent Disney-goers think??

Okay, I'll bite.

The most overrated is Le Cellier. Yes, the food is good, and it's been on our list of must-dos for years. However, I think the price (whether OOP or dining plan) is way out of whack for the quality of food, service and atmosphere. For the same money or less, I've had much better food and overall experiences at other WDW restaurants, including Flying Fish and Artist Point. Le Cellier probably won't make the cut for our next trip.

O'Hana-tried it 3x. Service was sluggish and almost non-responsive. Food was OK, bit nothing more. Part of it IS my personal tastes--I don't care for meat that is cooked DEAD. Very. Dead.

LeCellier--mixed review from me. I'm a beef producer, so I don't eat steak anywhere but home. Had heard SO MUCH about the cheddar cheese soup (meh at best) and bread sticks (NOTHING special.) However service was very good and my scallops dish was excellent. Took me 5 years to get an ADR...._I_ would not spend the money charged now to go.

In my honest and humble opinion, I would say every single breakfast in WDW is overrated. They are basically all the same and I have found that when we are on the DP, they are not worth a TS credit at all. Im sure many will disagree, but we stopped doing TS breakfasts several trips ago. Eggs are eggs, bacon is bacon, sausage is sausage, etcc... Yes, I realize some places offer a few different choices, but overall, I have yet to find a breakfast that is really any different than most of the CS breakfasts in the resorts. On top of the list (as far as "not impressed by").....CP, Ohana breakfast and Tusker House breakfast (although it probably didnt help at Tusker Hosue that when we arrived we had to wait a few minutes to go in through the doors because someone had puked all over the door and the sidewalk in front of the door. Kinda ruined my appetite and I stayed petrified that the sick person was inside the restaurant waiting for his or her family to eat and could get sick again inside any time and any place.

The only meal that has disappointed me at WDW was at Portobello's in Downtown Disney. Service was great but the food was just very average, and I'm not hard to please when it comes to eating out.

Every other TS meal I've had has been fantastic.

After reading the posts, I'm tempted to add the other places we think are overrated, but I'll play by the rules & stick to my most disappointing meal. ;) Besides, my list may get long. :p

No offense, but I just don't get this "theme park food" excuse some people love to use. WDW isn't serving nothing but hamburgers & hotdogs. If you aspire to do better, you should. They once did. Are we also willing to say, the attractions are just "theme park rides?" I see no difference.

Universal has a Palm Restaurant, which compares favorably with Ruth Chris. They also have an Emeril's that's as good as any other Emeril's we've eaten at. The other Emeril's hasn't thrilled us, but many people love it. On a whole, we find the food at most UO restaurants worth the price. (The many Cafe's are the exception.) Swan & Dolphin also have some excellent restaurants that we feel are worth the money. These are all "theme park restaurants". The food at most WDW restaurants should be more in line with the price. We don't expect to pay the same we would in a small town or even most big cities, but the signature restaurant prices should buy a consistently excellent meal. I don't think we should excuse away the food decline in recent years. If anything, they should be striving to produce better quality food. Most of us are a captive audience at WDW. This is not true for Busch Gardens or Six Flags.

None of your examples are within a Theme Park ....

"Just sayin'.".....:goodvibes

Hubs and I have tried excellent restaurants in New Orleans and IMHO... enjoyed Le Cellier MUCH more than our Emerils New Orleans experience.

I do understand that this thread is asking for opinions.... That just happens to be mine...

Interesting how a question is posed, opinions are asked but many times the answers aren't well received! :rotfl:

I have received YOUR answers. Very well received thank you !:goodvibes

Just stating my opinion which counts just as much as yours does....maybe, maybe not....

:flower3:

(This IS a thread regarding an opinion, correct?)

WDW is the entire property. Ohana, one of the restaurants that has been mentioned here the most, is in a hotel. To me, to insinuate we should judge them differently inside & outside the parks is a double standard & frankly a pathetic excuse. I don't say this as an affront to any individual here. I just think we should be realistic & acknowledge none of us would be happy with a Six Flags experience at WDW. Why should there be different standards for the attractions, shows, & restaurants? IMHO, there shouldn't be.

As far as Emeril's NOLA & Le Cellier, food is definitely subjective. However, I don't agree. It's not even close, IMHO. Then again, I don't get the LC love either. It's a perfectly acceptable restaurant, but doesn't come close to approaching fine dining. The famed pretzel bread is a soft pretzel. They can be bought many places.

If you ask me it's Coral Reef. Mediocre food. Terrible service. The loudest restaurant I've ever been in.

Definitely agree with this. We were really looking forward to our meal there last trip and although the food was decent, it was out of control noisy and we were basically sitting on top of the tables next to us! Never again.

Does anyone doubt that the theme parks offer healthier, edible options than the fried horrors of thirty years ago?

Whispering Canyon. Perfectly ordinary food. Annoying antics.

Among the Signatures, I'd say Narcoosees. Other than the view, it hasn't much to offer.

IMO, they have made vast improvements in CS & TS has declined in recent years. That said, you may want to start your own thread, so this one doesn't become hijacked. This isn't the topic at hand.

For a signature restaurant I would say California Grill. The meal wasn't bad but it was nothing special. The sushi place across the street from my office is much better and a fraction of the price but the kids did love the rice crispy sushi rolls.

For a non signature Coral Reef by a long shot. Horrible service, inedible food, chaotic atmosphere. It's a shame, it used to be one of out favorites.

IMHO California Grille is highly overrated, I have tried it more than on occasion & I just don’t get the big attraction other than the view which is excellent. It is expensive and the food is just ok….

Ohana. Don't get the hype. Ate here twice and both times walked away thinking "What's the big deal? It's ordinary food served on skewers!"

Jim

Definitely Ohana - our least favorite WDW restaurant.

I thought Kona was a letdown. The food was good but not enough and all I heard about was "the mickey pancakes". Kids got what amounted to 2 silver dollars pancakes situated near a bigger pancake to look like ears. What a joke. They couldn't have a mold to make it look somewhat real. what a waste of a sitdown.

My votes go for Via Napoli as well as California Grill. VN for poor food and service. CG was just underwhelming. :confused3

I would also vote for Via Napoli. But if Le Cellier is so overrated, why is it so hard to get a reservation? The soup alone is better than half of the places to eat at World Showcase.
