What is the most overrated Restaurant at Disney

Our choices for most overrated:

1.) Via Napoli...it was SO loud in there. (mind you I am a teacher...noise generally does not bother me, but man, this was AWFUL.) The pizza was terrible. Soggy, just plain nasty. (Note: we live in CT 15 min from the famous New Haven Wooster St. We regularly eat the best pizza in the country.)

2.) Mama Melrose w/ Fantasmic...food was okay, service was awful. We didn't like Fantasmic at all. Wishes and Illuminations are far superior.

I feel the need to defend:

1.) Chef Mickey's for dinner. We ate here twice and loved it. It is a must do for our family.

2.) Le Cellier. One of my favorite meals ever. Enjoyed a romantic dinner with DH. (Side note: I loved my salt crusted prime rib which is no longer on the menu and it was right before it became 2TS credits. Not sure I would use 2 credits).

I would also vote for Via Napoli. But if Le Cellier is so overrated, why is it so hard to get a reservation? The soup alone is better than half of the places to eat at World Showcase.

Not hard anymore, I can go online and get a dinner ADR at will. Once they become signature in January for lunch I have a feeling the same will be true for lunch as well.

One must remember when someone expresses an opinion of being overrated it is just that, an opinion. There is no such thing as a wrong opinion. I think the soup at Le Cellier is nothing spectacular just like their unimpressive steaks. Your opinion is the soup is great. Neither one of us is wrong; we just have different opinions. However, there appear to be many here on the DIS who share the opinion I have that LC is overrated. But then again there are many on here who share your opinion. ;)

California Grill.
Maybe I just had a bad experience...but I did not like it.
I honestly thought it was nothing special...the only thing that really stuck out was the sushi, which was amazing. Other than than, my flatbread was bland, my pasta was bland...and I don't even think I liked the bread (and I LOVE bread!) Not worth the $200 bill...

I say California Grill in the Contemporary. On the site, there claims to be a dress code. I had an argument with my husband the night we went because I didn't think he was dressed appropriately (jeans and a polo). The meal plan took 2 meals each from us. When we got there nearly everyone was in flip flops and shorts and there were perhaps 3 other couples who obviously read the dress code. I was very disappointed as I thought the environment would be different. The food was okay. The best part was the waiter not adding my martini to the bill.

I had heard good things about Kona but was really disappointed. I agree with a PP about Akershus, it seems to be so recommended as a princess meal, but the buffet was gross IMO, and the characters were not good either.

I'll jump on the LeCellier bandwagon too. While I have never had a bad meal, the service usually sucks and now 2 credits?? Definitely not worth that!

I haven't eaten at many TS and most CS aren't outstanding, but there is one that people recommend over and over again that I hoped would be better than it was: Flame Tree. Maybe I am spoiled from living in Kansas City, but it just wasn't that good at all. Of course, I didn't expect it to be outstanding, but I was hoping to say "yeah, it was good" But...that didn't happen. That said, I'll take it over Pizza Planet any day, but I don't see PP getting rave reviews on here most of the time. We stopped at a Sonny's on the way down, and I didn't like it either, so I have decided to avoid all BBQ outside of KC from now on :thumbsup2

I know many will disagree but Le Cellier IMHO is the most over rated restaurant. It's impossible to get ADRs for a lot of the time and it requires 2ddp credits for dinner and next year will be 2 for lunch also. I like steak as much as the next guy but it's just not worth it to me.

popcorn::

I think it used to be alot better. It is overrated now. When we first started going there about maybe 9 years ago, the food was excellent and the service was great. We also were able to get dining easily for the most part.

I think because of how busy they get it just is alot of work. They need to expand and hire more staff IMO.

I am not trying to be negative, but I find that so many of the restaurants are overrated when I read about the stress over ADRs.

For me the most overrated restaurant is definitely Le Cellier. I didnt care for their quality of steak (totally lacked flavor), the soup was mediocre at best. Just not impressed with the place at all. The atmosphere wasnt spectacular either, too crammed.

I think Capital Grill is so overrated, not like it used to be years ago

I would have to say Chef Mickey's! The food in not good. My husband can't stand it. Sadly my kids like it for the characters though. :goodvibes

Le Cellier. After 3 mediocre meals, I still can't figure out what they hype is all about. Any time the soup is better than the steak, at a steak restuarant, some thing is way off.

We have had only one bad experience that I can remember in perhaps ten trips. That was WCC. The skillets were cold and the service was bad. We hated the noise but that is not the fault of the restaurant, after all. We just did not know it would be that chaotic.
We had heard nothing but bad about the Yak and Yeti but we were hungry and passing by so we stopped. We were seated at an upstairs window right before the parade. It was too cool! The server and food were fantastic.
It remains one of our favourite restaurant memories at Disney. We went back next trip, sat inside and had another great meal. The servers have always been good.
We do not go by reviews any longer or we would have missed a few nice meals!

TS Underrated--Crews cup Lounge
TS overrated-- Le Cellier

QS underrated--Pecos Bills
QS overrated--Harbor house.

my expectations are usually pretty low when I come to Disney, so often i'm pleasantly surprised.

However, we went to Artist Point on my birthday (I think 4 years ago, so it may have changed) and I was very underwhelmed. I had been looking forward to that meal a lot, but it ended up being really expensive really bland salmon.

Aside from that I think that Chefs de France was one of the worst meals that DGF and I have had. At least our waiter was sweet and humorous.

This thread is funny. So many here say Ohana and Le Cellier are overrated but they're still two of the hardest ADRs to get. And I have to say, we've eaten at Le Cellier several times and Ohana once. All of our meals have been awesome! Totally our opinion and everyone is most definitely entitled to theirs.

Personally, Artist Point was a major let down for us. Just didn't live up to what I expected based off of all the reviews I had read.

That is pretty much what overrated means. For everyone to have these glowing reviews and is difficult to get into, even though it isn't really all the great. I have to agree with those saying that Le Cellier is overrated. The tables are the closet I have seen at WDW. The table next to us might as well have been part of our party. My fillet was so salty and overlooked for medium rare. DH steak was a bit better. But we have many restaurants here in Peoria, IL that have better steaks. So we just couldn't see what all the hubbub is all about.

Teppen Edo is another one that is overrated in my opinion. We have a hibachi restaurant that is within walking distance of our home that has 10 times better chefs. They are so funny and the portions are much more generous.

Oh, forgot to add Bistro de Paris. We ate there a couple years ago. It was fairly expensive. We thought the food was just ok. And you really can't see Illuminations from the windows. The glazing on the windows is smeared, like old, glass, you can barely see through them. Very overrated in our opinion.

If I really think about it to long I would say that they are all over rated to a degree. Don't take this wrong as we love WDW and we eat at a full slate of resturaunts everytime we go and we love certain ones, the relaity is for the food you get, the portion, the quality etc. they are all over rated. I can find the same food of better quality, at lower prices at home than at most WDW resturaunts. The point is I am on vacation and the prices are what they are. We enjoy the theming, where we are and if the food is good that's a bonus. We love Kuzinna's, and really enjoyed the Plaza Resturaunt this trip because it was the first time we ate there. Nothing fancy, just sandwiches, but my wife had been craving a banana split for a week when we finally got one there. For that reason alone it may have been her favorite meal.

We ate a Le Cellier after a 8 year haitus and must say it is way over rated. Part of the reason for the difficulty of getting an ADR is when we finally ate there this time I realized just how small that place is. There are just not that many tables. We loved Rose and Crown but the food was only so so. The fact that they had beer and single malt scotch and our reservation was at 7:50 and we were sat on the patio with an unobstructed view of Illuminations made it one of the highlights of the trip.

So I guess what I am really saying is there are few if any resturants that would make our regular rotation at home based on price and food, but many that we feel are great since we are on vacation and what's waiting right outside the door of them, WDW!
