What is the most beautiful name you've ever heard?

I guess the Ashlyn(n)'s are highjacking this thread - sorry! It's like a reunion!
How touching your story is! It's great that you MIL at least got to meet her!

UMTerp

That's because it's the most beautiful name!

My DD is 9 but we didn't meet at a DISmeet (too bad!). We live in No VA and have family in MD so maybe they will meet one day!

UMTerp

This Dismeet was actually in WDW, I think the posters username actually has her daughter's name (Ashlyn) it it.

And I'm sure we don't live far from you....we're only about 20 miles the other side of DC- in Anne Arundel County. :)

I did a Google search, and there's also a porn star named Ashlyn Gere (BTW, make sure your daughter doesn't ever go to Ashlyn dot com on the internet. You won't be happy where it will take her!), and an erotic romance novel writer named Ashlyn Chase.

I hope we didn't pre-determine our daughters' futures for the worst when we named them Ashlyn!:scared1:
Thanks for the heads up!!!

I hope we didn't pre-determine either. She is fiesty at times, but she seems to be heading in the education direction - hope it stays that way!

I have to vote for Ashlyn too. I also like Kyra.

OT, but when I was expecting each time I decided to go with conservative names for the boys, but more creative ones for the girl's.

My first pregnancy I picked Jenna Taylor for my girl name. Thank goodness, my best friend alerted me to the fact that if you say both names quickly it might make for quite a few jokes as she grew up!

Needless to say, God decided to give me 3 boys.;)

I've always loved this Gaelic name: Aisling, which means dream or vision.

:thumbsup2

My middle name is Aisling and I pronounce it: Ash-Leen. (I was told it was Irish, someone can correct me if I'm wrong)

In Limerick, Ireland, it's pronounced Ash-ling. Different counties, diffferent pronounciations, i guess. But the meaning is the same.

Alright, I've made it through all 20 pages and I haven't seen my daughter's name yet.

When DW was nearing the due date, we decided that DD's name would be Jessica Lynn. That was right up until she was born and looked so much like my sister that we shortened Jessica Lynn to Jaylynn and added my sister's name as her middle name: Jaylynn Michele.

I thought I had made that name up all by myself, but when she was about four I read a story about another Jaylynn. So much for my creativity.

She is absolutely the only one in her school, and as far as I know the only one in our town, and at 13 she absolutely loves her name. She loves that it's unique and she has never come across someone that can't rememberher name.

Another name I love is Addelyn. Thats my DNiece's name.

My SIL swears that once when she was working at a Dr's office, she had a patient who's name was written on the chart as ****head. As you can imagine, she struggled to pronounce this one and was corrected angrily by the patients mother who told her that it was SHi-thEEd (sorry if this is not ok to post, I just thought it was incredibly funny)

Is she in Kentucky? Just wondering. :rolleyes1

Our DDs are Rachel Alexandria (my dad was Alexander) and Tessa Louise (DHs dad is Luigi). There are no other Tessas in my DDs school.

Maria.

The most beautiful sound I ever heard: Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria.
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word: Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria.

Maria, I've just met a girl named Maria...and suddenly the name will never be the same to me.
Maria! I've just kissed a girl named Maria...and suddenly I've found how wonderful a sound can be.

Maria! Say it loud and there's music playing.
Say it soft and it's almost like praying.

Maria, I never stop saying: "Maria!"

Grumpy you have kept me laughing the entire thread.

I have a short list,
Rayne
Karleigh
Keira
Sophia
Kara

and I've seen a few here I like as well. I think Marena is pretty. A nickname could be Rena.

Savanahh Rayne

I wanted my daughter to be Emma but my dh didn't really care for that name. We ended up naming her Aubrey.

I had really never heard of that name before she was born. Now there are 2 other Aubreys in her school. One older and one younger

We ended up naming her Aubrey.
Ooh! More song lyrics. :)
Maybe I was absent or was listening to fast.
Catching all the words, but then the meaning going past...

But God I miss the girl.
And I'd go a thousand times around the world just to be closer to her than to me.

And Aubrey was her name...
I never knew her, but I loved her just the same.
I loved her name.
Wish that I had found the way...
and the reasons that would make her stay.
I have learned to lead a life apart from all the rest.
If I can't have the one I want, I'll do without the best.

But how I miss the girl...
And I'd go a million times around the world just to say
She had been mine for a day.

A lady I used to work with is named Siobhan (pronounced Shivon). It's an Irish name for Joan. I am not sure what her middle name is, but I think it's pretty.

My newest grand-niece is named Madelana. I think that is very pretty.

My younger DD's name is Mireille (meer-ay) and I have to say I haven't seen any others with that name!

That's my mom's name. French names are so beautiful.

My favourite girl's name is Annabelle. I'd never use it though because it doesn't sound good with DH's last name.

You don't happen to live in East Tn? Several years ago I remember a pt I had in L&D who named her daughter that. All the nurses tried to get her to change the name.
