What is the most beautiful name you've ever heard?

I love my daughters' names, Julianne Elyse and Stephanie Jennifer.

My new favorite name is Brette Elizabeth for a girl. It is my daughter's best friend's name and it fits her perfectly. She is a stunningly beautiful petite little girl. :)

wow.......my name is Julia Elise.........I was named after my great grandmother. I never liked the name growing up so my friends all called me Julie.

I have three girls.......Alyssa Renae, Camree (pronounced Camry, like the car) Elise and Chloe Elizabeth (my mom's middle name). If I had another girl (not going to happen!) I would name her after my mother Vivian but would spell it Vivienne.

Sarah Elizabeth

It was our intention when we named our daughter to call her Sarah Beth, but it felt wierd when she was little. We dropped it. We still have a few relatives who call her Sarah Beth, and I love hearing it when they say it.

Oh, here's a funny: My oldest two daughters are named Sarah and Megan. If you write their names backwards you come up with haras(s) and nagem.
And that's what they're always doing to me.

Great-gramma here, so I'm waaay past naming children, but I did come across a girls name that I just loved...Delaney. Although I must admit, I'm not a big fan of trying to see how original you can get with spelling of children's names. Seems like it is just asking for the child to have problems going through life. JMHO

So many names, so much to process... but many lovely suggestions!

I have always been dispassionate about my name, not because of the name itself but mostly because i went through school with at least four and sometimes as many as ten others - Heather. I was the only 'Marie' in the group, thank you Dad's French line, but it was not cool to say, hi I'm Heather... Which?

My favorites have always been in three groups:
Classics: Pearl, Marian, Eve, Sophie, Evelyn
Nature: Rose, VIolet, Dahlia, Sage, Fleur, River
Literary (the ones I get the most backlash on lol): Emma, Juliet, and my actual favorite favorite - Niniane.
(Folklorically, she is the mother of Merlin)

I always loved the name Graziella (which means Grace in Italian). It just sounds so pretty.

I also like Savannah but don't know what the nickname would be. Would it be Vannah or Savy?

Did not read all of the posts but my DD(11) is Savannah Mary-Grace. I purposefully (Sp?) picked a name with out a nick name...her name is Savannah and that is what every calls her.

OTOH we have friends that have 3 girls, when naming their DD's they have their "professional" name for when the become an Attorney like their Dad and their "kid" name. One of their DD's name is Elizabeth, they call her Emily.

When we considered having another Child, Isabella would have been our girl choice.

Another name that is pretty is Giselle. Not thinking of the super model, but more the ballet.

As for weird spellings, I have a differently spelled name: Karyn. Growing up, I didn't really like it 'cause I couldn't get things with my name on it :lmao: but today I like it and it distinguishes me from the many many other Karens that were born in the 60s!

And for nicknames, even if you try to "control" that, nicknames happen. Spontaneously and without effort. My DD is Elizabeth Rose, and so far we call her Elizabeth. But I fully expect that she will end up with a nickname of some sort.

Good luck

I love my daughters names

I miscarried last year but if it was a girl we were gonna name her Avery Catherine(had to stick with the names that end in Y:thumbsup2 )

I also love the name Fallon for a girl

Us either, how old is your dd? We did meet an Ashlyn at a DISmeet in Epcot this year, I think she was around 8 or 9. My dd is 10. :) I think we've run into less than 5 in those 10 years!

My DD is 9 but we didn't meet at a DISmeet (too bad!). We live in No VA and have family in MD so maybe they will meet one day!

Hey, we have an Ashlyn. One of our twin DD's is named Ashlyn. DH loved the name when he first saw it written.

Funny thing is, he saw it in the newspaper & it was the name of a stripper!!! :scared1:

Oh my! Did you know it was a stripper's name when you named her?

UMTerp

Amazing! We haven't met many other girls with Ashlyn or Ashlynn!

UMTerp

Well, add me to the list! My DD10 is an Ashlyn too! Her best friend at church is also an Ashlyn.

I love the name, especially the meaning of "vision or dream". When I was first pregnant, I kept having dreams about the baby being a girl. After the ultrasound, when I knew for sure she was a girl, I was flipping through the baby name book, and it just sort of jumped out at me. When I read the meaning, I knew it would be perfect.

On a side note, my MIL died of breast cancer when DD was only 6 months old. Her name was Sheila Lyn, so Ashlyn is kind of a combination of her two names. I didn't do that purposely; I actually didn't even realize it until after she died. But, I'm so happy it worked out that way, because DD was her first grandchild and the only one she ever got to see.

I guess the Ashlyn(n)'s are highjacking this thread - sorry! It's like a reunion!
How touching your story is! It's great that you MIL at least got to meet her!

Believe it or not, yes we did!!! That's where we "found" the name. (how embarrassing)

I feel much better though now that Karibeth19 said it means "vision or dream". :)

I believe she is the only Ashlyn in her school. She was once reading a display when she was in middle school of unique names. Excitedly she said, "Hey, mom, there must be another Ashlyn in the school." Then she realized that Ashlyn was her! Still the one & only in high school also.

She was very excited when she ran into a boy she used to play soccer with in grammar school. He told her that they named her sister Ashlyn because his parents loved the name so much.

BTW - I know it sounds funny, but I'm not a fan of the name Ashley.

DD is McKaylee
DS is Miles Ryan
DS is Tanner Jaxon

We have a very common last name so we tried *except for middle son that dh named while I was in labor without my knowledge* to use unique spellings of names or unique names period.

If I would have had another girl she would have been named Ella

I did a Google search, and there's also a porn star named Ashlyn Gere (BTW, make sure your daughter doesn't ever go to Ashlyn dot com on the internet. You won't be happy where it will take her!), and an erotic romance novel writer named Ashlyn Chase.

I hope we didn't pre-determine our daughters' futures for the worst when we named them Ashlyn!:scared1:

DH named Hannah, too. We had a list of 10 names each for boys or girls. I had been in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks, and called him hysterical because they decided to induce labor in the morning. He came to the hospital, I was still pretty freaked out, and told him to pick whichever one he wanted off the list for boy or girl, because we needed to be prepared. Hannah it was. (He had previously vetoed my #1 choice, Danielle - which really would suit her).
