I will be in Orlando from the 15th through the 28th and I will have to find a venue to get by Christmas alone. Between all the parks at the Disney and Universal complexes, which is the easiest going for someone venturing alone?

From what I hear, Christmas is CRAZY busy at the Magic Kingdom cause they have a parade live on tv. So you wont be lonely there! and during Christmas Hollywood studios has amazing lights and fake snow! andddd Epcot has Christmas around the world, a personal fave of mine! So it's pretty busy around that time. I am sure you will find plenty of friendly people around. I will be there myself at some point or another. Also since you have time, you should check out the Grand Floridian, I hear they have a pretty amazing ginger bread house set up that I need to check out myself! Have a great time! :wave2:

Oh, I have never seen snow! It would be wonderful! But crowds make me anxious... :( someone told me that the universal parks get a little more accessible these days.

This wouldn't be real snow. It's soap bubbles that look like snow.

Least depressing on Christmas for a solo traveler? I'm thinking Hollywood Studios. The Osborne Lights are so amazing that you'll forget to be depressed. You could also find out if any of the behind the scenes tours are offered anywhere at WDW on Christmas, as that would give you some company for a few hours.

It does not matter, since where I come from we don't have real nor fake snow. XD either would be cool and fun!

And a behind the scenes tour sounds mighty cool, but I guess it would not happen in the heat of the festivities, I bet. I'm definitely interested in that, though. *-*

oh thanks so much I will for sure look for one that I like.perhaps you can help me with something else. I am trying to decide which restaurant I would like to dine in the Christmas evening, between the buffet ones. Do you have a recommendatio? And if I make a reservation just for one, they will not put me with some one else, or in a bar, or in a bad table, will they?

Thanks so much :(

Great, if their website is correct that they have tours on Christmas day, that would be an enjoyable, non-depressing way to spend the day for a solo.:thumbsup2

Some of the WDW restaurants will have special Christmas buffets or Christmas menus, but I don't think this year's Christmas menus have been published yet. My recommendation is to keep watching for these, and once they post the information, choose accordingly. I don't know what your food preferences are nor what exactly they will offer this Christmas, so it would be difficult to recommend a specific restaurant at this time. Perhaps someone else has tried a few of the Christmas buffets in past years and can tell you which one they preferred.

They wouldn't put you at a table with someone else unless it's one of the very few restaurants with communal seating such as Biergarten or Teppan Edo. I've not run into the situation at WDW of being asked to dine at the bar if I requested the restaurant. As for a bad table, that one could happen, and I don't know that this problem is limited to solos or more likely could happen to anyone. But if you don't like the table they offer you, you can request a different table.

its fake snow haha. Well, I think you're probably right. You could go to Universal and take the Hogwarts express to islands of adventure and it's easy and they don't have very many Christmas activities so it should be easy. However, I just feel safer at Disney alone. I went to a concert once at city walk by myself, and I was fine, I just worried about being alone in a place where people drink a lot.

I have had the Crystal Palace at the MK and it was AMAZING! I don't really like the Pooh characters, but the food was so good! and its buffet and fancy and not too expensive. Good luck! =D

I would love to do Disney World at Christmas, any park will do. I always spend Christmas alone in my house and I hate it, This will sound daft, but, the thought of leaving my cats at the cattery over Christmas is the only thing that stops me, as if they would care, as long as they get their noms they are happy

Yes, cats don't know when it's Christmas anyway.

The parade is filmed the first week of December

Parade or no-MK will be crazy busy-this is one of the busiest times for Disneyworld...A park with lots of shows/rides would be best distraction-I would pick AK or DHS. I lean toward DHS cause of the Osbourne lights...If you go with DHS my favorite 1 TS place is Mama Melrose, followed by Prime time and then Sci Fi. Brown Derby is my favorite restaurant but I never use dining plan-I get the cobb salad and grapefruit cake-plus a glass of wine;) comes to $30...Not sure about Universal-have only visited once. You might want to post on the Universal boards to see what the holidays are like. Have a great trip!

I would go to Epcot.I would do Future World, making FP+ for Soarin', and maybe SE and maelstrom. Single Rider TT. If it was really busy, I wouldn't do many rides. I would visit the countries and watch some of the storytellers. I would book a Candlelight Processional pkg and have a nice dinner, watch CP and then Illuminations. And then, unfortunately, make my way to the bus stop with hordes og people!:santa:

Disneyworld is one of those places where you won't be lonely if you dine alone. The staff will take care of you and give you as much extra attention as they can spare the time. MY choice would be Garden Grill in the land. It's all you can eat, but the food is served to you so you don't have to get up and dodge people to get food. The restaurant revolves, so there's something different to see and hear throughout your meal, and it has good character interaction - Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale.

On Christmas day, I agree with the others. If you must go to a park, then go to EPCOT. Get your priority seating for early evening, so you can get a place to watch illuminations early - even though it probably won't go off until 9:30. Stay to the very end and then stay a little longer until the crowds clear and the bus lines have had time to go ddown a little.

You don't say where you are staying, but if you have the choice and budget for it, I would stay at an EPCOT resort or Swan/Dolphin.

There are lots of things to do during that time of year besides visit the parks. The resorts are all theme trimmed in the main buildings. Sometimes there are evening performances at the resorts - I saw a handbell group at Port Orleans Riverside once, for example. Then you have the regular "shows" at resorts like YeHaw Bob in the lounge at Port Orleans Riverside.

You can tour the resorts - and I would definitely make time for that. Some of the trees and gingerbread displays are nothing short of amazing. Grand Floridian, of course, Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House), Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club and Beach Club top the list. Coronado Springs. Some of those resorts have tours, and they're free. I guess I'd make my initial resort exploration early in the trip and stop at each lobby concierge for their "calendar of events" so you can plan the rest of your trip.

Offered only at Christmas time is a special pay tour about holidays at the world. If you want to take that, BOOK EARLY! because it sells out.

Oh, and Winterland/Summerland Miniature golf is a hoot. Thirteen days is a long trip - unless you have a parkhopper as part of a package, you might want to get an Annual Pass. They're pricy but thirteen days is past the break even point and the AP gets you 10% discount on some shopping and food. A list of perks will come with the pass, but you should always inquire.

Good luck! Merry Christmas!
