What is the first news story you remember?

Not to show my age or anything... :rolleyes1
But, the 1st things that come to mind are:

JFK death - 1963
Beatles American invasion - 1964
Hippies/Summer of Love - 1967
1st moon landing - 1969
Woodstock (the original) - 1969
Vietnam War

I was born in 1983. I guess the first news that I really vividly remember watching was the OJ Simpson car chase in 1994 and then subsequent trial. I think I remember it so well because it was summer, and I spent several weekdays at my grandmother's house while I was out of school and my parents were working, and she was watching a lot of that. [eta] I also vaguely remember bits of the 1988 presidential election, but not like the OJ thing.

I remember a lot of news about the Vietnam War but nothing really specific. We were in the car on our way to or from a camping trip when the moon landing happened. It wasn't as exciting o the radio.

The Iran Contra scandal when I was 7. I remember my dad watching Oliver North's trial and talking about how much he disliked him.
