What is the definition/rule of the quiet pool?

Just by name alone I would think it means QUIET??!!

Our recent stay at BWI - which I loved BTW - we were in the 2000 rooms overlooking a quiet pool area...check in day we went and walked around to check out the quiet pool and there was a whole large family playing "football" and whooping and hollering in the pool...not really my idea of quiet...this went on daily in the afternoon, right when we'd be coming back from naps, even in the rain. You couldn't hear with the door closed but once the kids laid down DH and I would sit on the balcony and it was pretty loud...so what is a quiet pool?


I also felt that the quiet pool was kind of an adult pool - meaning we couldn't take our girls, for fear of them making noise? Have I been missing out?

Disney doesn't really call them quiet pools but non feature pools. Anyone can swim in a quiet pool. I was in a room that overlooked a "quiet" pool at CSR. It was very noisy and it was after midnight and they were still going strong.

I think quiet pool is more of a Dis term and a bit misleading.

Anyone is welcome in the non feature pools, including children, and they are not required to be quiet, although I teach mine to be courteous and safe, no matter what pool we visit.

1) As mentioned, there is no real "Quiet Pool".
2) They are simply less populated pools, and USUALLY more quiet.
3) All WDW pools
. . . are open 24/7 (though lifeguards have limited hours)
. . . only police VERY loud people or activities
4) Enjoy your time at WDW.

some people don't realize that they are being rude.

ask them politely to quiet it down because your child needs a nap.

if they refuse then call the front desk.

You might have to move - but hey it is worth it to get quiet place for the kids to sleep.

Also remember this when your kids become teens....and somebody ask to you to please tone it down....

since I can't access WDW websites from work (darn blocks!!!) - is the "quiet pool" even an actual term? Was it made up on these boards? I knew these pools weren't manned by lifeguards.....

Actually, Disney does call them quiet pools, on most of the maps I've seen of the resorts given out at check in. However, I've never seen any kind of rules or restrictions other than the regular pool rules. I think the name is misleading and I'm sorry you had a misunderstanding, which I believe was perfectly valid

yes Disney use to call all their secondary pools - quiet...

but they were mean to be quiet - it was just to kept them from the main pool (which is generally themed - the quiet, secondary, is not theme)

of course if you are going to complaint - remember Disney is pretty restrict about their rules. if they find under age drinking - everybody is thrown out....

I never mentioned complaining and what's the under age thing?

I was only questioning because we have stayed away from QUIET pools thinking that they were meant to be "quiet" and more so for adults or teens...now that I know this is not the case we'll being our party to the less crowded pool!

I'm pretty sure that the term "quiet pool" means that since it is non-feature, it tends to be less lively than the pools with slides and such, not that you have to be quiet when you're in it. Go and enjoy the quiet pools from now on! Our DD7 has never liked the louder, themed pools, so we mostly stay in the quiet pool, which is fun for all and usually doesn't get too wild. The quiet pool at the GF is wonderful and bigger than their themed pool. The quiet pool at the CR was heated, but small and kinda dull, in our opinion. I don't remember the quiet pool area at the Y&BC, so I'm no help there.

I think the quiet pools are simply less populated.

At ASMu, in late June, the piano pool was very quiet, while the main pool was hopping.

Same at ASMo. In August, the Fantasia pool was crazy busy, yet the Mighty Ducks pool was very quiet.

So, even if they aren't really QUIET pools, they're still pretty quiet.

The quiet pools are often less themed, without slides or lifeguards. I have also heard them called leisure pools.

the quiet pools are not really quiet. as you have gathered from the rest of the replies. i really think that there is not much to complain about if you can shut your door and not hear anything. i understand your feelings though, and sitting on the balcony and hearing that noise would bother me too.

A couple extra questions. Which resorts have the quietest, least populated pools in your experience, and what times are best for using the pool without it being too crowded?

I'll post again, I wasn't even thinking of complaining!! I am only asking because I have avoided USING the quiet pools because that is what I thought they were and I didn't want to feel unwelcomed when we swooped down with two little princesses!

The pools at the resorts we frequent are except for SAB. But the pools with slides close off the slides when lifeguards are not on duty.

So I guess it pays to just check with your own resort.
