What is going on in July? Easy to get ADRs and FP.

I can still get pre park opening breakfast ADRs during 4th of July week, both at BOG and Akershus. I can also get FEA FP for decent early afternoon times and it's less than 30 days out. This should be an insanely crowded week, but nothing seems to be booked. Any ideas?

I don't know what is going on either. We are about 37 days out, and I usually have trouble switching up ADRs at this point, but it's been strangely easy. I have read some posts where people had mentioned attendance would be down in July. There has also been speculation about a decline in South American tour groups due to their economy.
Whatever the reason, it may be a bonus for those of us going this summer.

I have also been pleasantly surprised with ADR and FP+ availability and really hope it's indicative of somewhat lower than expected crowds!

I am going for just a three days starting 6/30. Two days ago I decided to ask my friends daughter to join us. I was able to get her FP's similar to mine with T he exception of FEA on July 1st. Can't seem to snag her a spot

I've done a ton of tweaking to this year's multi-resort July trip, and it has been noticeably easy to book & change discount resort stays, ADRs and FastPasses.

I don't know what's happening but I love it because I too have had an easy time moving around reservations. This is my first summer trip and was expecting the worst but I'm slowly becoming hopefully optimistic

Also, July hours haven't been extended. I know Disney can tweak them pretty last minute, but I think this is pretty late for July 4th. I really hope the crowds are lower.

Glad to hear all of this. We have family joining us for our trip in mid July, but they're staff offsite so their FP window doesn't open until next week. Hopefully they can get some similar FP times to us.

Check out the FP+ availability for July 4th...Seems like a very low day and not a 10. Not getting my hopes up for my 6/26 - 7/6 trip but it's not looking so bad.

Also the economy in South America is not in great shape, so thats probably playing into it too.

That's awesome for everyone who is going! We went the past 2 summers and the tour groups were insane. This summer we are headed west so no WDW until November. I have heard it's due to oil prices and an slow economy in Brazil, etc. Not sure if the Olympics have an impact too, i.e. locals attending that instead?

We have gone to WDW for the last several years during July 4 week and it has been next to impossible to switch around my plans; however, just like all of you, I have been surprisingly able to tweak my plans quite a few times! The most recent time being just yesterday, in fact. I switched a Soarin' FP with a Frozen FP, no problem. And I was also able to switch my 7DMT FP to a different time slot, which is really shocking. AND, the topper is that I made a Chef Mickeys ADR just last week and there were a lot of time slots available to choose from!

Glad I'm not alone in wondering what is up with July. This has been the easiest trip by far to get ADRs and FP+s. Before our 30 days popped up (staying at SoG), I was planning what we could do without any wanted FPs because I was sure we wouldn't get anything desirable. Guess we will be able to fit in a little more than I previously expected.

Now I'm playing around with our plans for the 4th. Still can't decide between watching fireworks at MK (from one of the resort beaches) or going to EP.

And one other possible reason---all the new charges for extra hours, parking, etc. folks may have finally decided that they have had enough and are spending their money elsewhere. If that is the case, Disney needs to take notice.

Probably a combo of a lot of things, South America, the Olympics, nothing new opening. I also wonder if all of the pent-up demand from the recession/housing crash has dwindled by now.

I've not had a hard time moving things around for both our trip next week and our trip in July.

I think one other factor is more and more want to go during free dining.
Summer seems easier to book but free dining dates are way harder than in the past.
So those who are flexible are going later

Call me stupid, but I don't get why they would want to reduce attendance? Don't get me wrong, I love lower crowds but I don't see the sense of it from a business standpoint.

As for original post, I keep checking the FP availability as we make ours next Wednesday and only see Anna/Elsa M&G in MK as being completely gone. I could get just about everything else I wanted 30 days out, even FEA. Since we're looking at offsite next time, I'm telling DDs to get their Anna/Elsa fix now.

It was mentioned on this week's Dis podcast that the booking window for the summer discount was extended to July 8 (I don't know what the original date was). So, based on that and the ease at getting/changing ADRs and FP+ it sure seems this summer will be less busy than prior years. I hope so - we are going in mid-August!

Because they are hearing the complaints about long waits and heavy crowds. By raising prices a bit they can reduce attendance a bit and not loose profit. Those who do go pay more and makes up for those who don't go
