What if my 2yo looks 3??

We're going next week and I just realized it might be a problem at the gate, that my daughter whose birthday is in June, looks as if she could easily be three. What if they challenge the fact that we didn't buy her a ticket?

If they question her age at all they will engage her in conversation and ask her her age. This is why folks say it isn't wise to try to pass a 3 yo off as a 2. Since basically you would have to tell the child to lie about her age but since this isn't your issue don't sweat it they may not even question it

I wouldn't worry about it. Our son looked way bigger when he was 2. He was very tall. The CM's would talk to him as he is a social guy and he would promptly tell them that he was 49. No matter what you said he would insist that he was 49. I still don't get it. It made us all laugh but they never questioned when we would correct him and say that he was 2. Of course he would be very annoyed and again insist that he was 49. Moral of the story- don't worry about it. You'll be fine!

And I have the opposite problem!!! LOL My DS is 3 and looks 2-he's a little peanut and I really wish that I didn't have to get him a ticket for our upcoming trip-but the rules are the rules! LOL

You could always bring her birth certificate

ms ds's are big.. when the older one was 2, even though he was big, I didnt bring the BC, however with my 2.5 ds, now, when I go in April, I am bringing his BC because when you ask him how old he is, he says 3!! he wont be 3 until the very end of August!

They will not give you a hard time about it! I've been around these boards for a while and have never heard of anyone getting hassled about their child's age. My DD was very tall for almost 3 (people would ask why she wasn't in school) the last time we went and the CMs at the entrance never gave her a 2nd glance.

We had a similar problem last time we went to WDW but on the flight from the UK. My dd then 22 months has always looked older than she is (she appears physically and verbally older). Because we hadn't bought her seat (being under 2), I was asked at least 3 times by staff how old she was (they weren''t just being friendly!!).
If you are worried just take her birth certificate.

My DD had the same hang up about things being "88 cents". Everything was 88 cents!

My DS has the opposite problem. He looks so small for his age. The CM's would wave him through the gates and I would rush to hand them his pass. They couldn't believe he was old enough to need it.

I wouldn't worry about them questioning his age.

I never had a problem with my girls at Walt Disney World with anyone questioning their age but I have always had a problem with the airlines. Even when DD4 was under 1 and not walking, still in an infant car seat carrier we had to show them her birth certificate or shot record. We always have these on hand when we travel now!

We have the same problem with our daughter. She looks like she is over 3...her birthday is May..so she is 2 months shy of 3..BUT she knows she is 2.5.
Hopefully they won't question it! I might bring a copy of her Birth Cert. just in case, for the plane too!

My DD is very tall for her age, started talking at 9 months, and hasn't shut up since. I made sure to have her birth cert with us when she was 2. I also made sure to add on our ADRs that she was 2. However, at the last minute, I added an ADR for Boma and forgot to mention that she was 2...and sure enough that was the only place they questioned us about her age! So make sure that it's noted on your ADRs (especially if you are on the DDP...they will try to take credits off for your child)

My little one will be almost 3 when we go. He is pretty small, but VERY verbal. His teachers say that he talks to them in grown up conversations. He would also insist that he is 8 if he was asked. I hope it doesn't happen to us.

My niece is extremely tall for her age. The first time we went, she had just turned 2, but looked 4 or 5. We brought her birth certificate, but no one ever questioned us.

I agree with everyone else, don't worry about it. On our last trip I was a tab worried but it was fine.

My two year old is off the charts and can already wear a lot of her 5 year old sisters hand me downs straight out of her closet. No one asked us her age at the gate. Once a castmember at the gate started talking to her. I think she was going to ask her age but I think she could tell right away from my daughters speaking ability that she wasn't 3 yet.

I agree, don't worry about it. I have a very tall daughter and a very short daughter. When the short one was 5, they were still waving her throught the gates without asking for a ticket!

When my tall one (Lydia) was 2, we had one CM ask if she had a ticket. We just said, "She's only 2." and they waved her on through without any further conversation or trouble. This is Disney, they see lots of tall (and short) kids, I highly doubt they will give you trouble.

I had kind of wondered that myself. When I make my ADRs I just need to tell them he is 2? Do you tell the wait staff too or will it be on the reservation? If we decide to buy him his own meal when we get there (guessing it won't be a problem at the buffets but if he doesn't like what dh or I are eating so we can't share) we can just pay for it OOP then?

If you tell them when you make your ADR's it will be listed in the computer so they know when you arrive. You won't need to tell anyone else. If he would like a meal, you can pay for it OOP. But if you are at a buffet, he can eat for free.
