What Helps YOU fall asleep?

My favorites are:
- Sleepy Time or Sleepy Time Extra Tea (Celestial Seasonings)
- Reading in bed (especially the Bible & especially if you tell yourself
you WILL finish the entire chapter)
- Vividly imagining a dream vacation
- Playing any relaxation or self hypnosis CD... no matter what time of
day or night it is

PS:
Just FYI; many people have good results with Melatonin, but I've seen some studies that say if you use it too often your body will stop manufacturing it
and it can compound the problem... so just use it occasionally.

Something to avoid...working out too late in the evening. DH can do it right after work, but if he works out too late, he has trouble sleeping. He usually does his running in the AM though. As he says, it's the only time of day he can control. He never knows when he'll be able to leave work exactly.

I close my eyes then ask DH to tell me what he's been doing at work.. Works every time :thumbsup2

Dh has been having a hard time falling asleep and doesn't want to take any otc sleep aids to help him go to sleep. Hoping for some other suggestions to help him wind down and get some rest!
So, what helps you fall asleep when you can't?
:teeth:

""""what helps you fall asleep when you can't?""""

:rolleyes1

I am lucky that I don't often have this problem. But when I do, a hot shower followed by some hot cocoa and leaving the tv going works like a charm. I really can't fall asleep without the tv going softly. I set the timer to turn itself off in an hour so it isn't going all night.

Nyquil also puts me out or a tylenol pm, but I don't like to take stuff if I'm not sick.

Ummmmm, may not always be the most convient but sex will sure do it.

If not that my DF can fall asleep to a hypnosis CD for getting organized its set to the background of a rainstorm, but usually the former idea works best ;)

I listen to an audio book on my iPod. I guess I'm still a kid at heart and I like having stories read before I go to sleep

An eye mask works really well too. I stopped using one because it bent my eyelashes and only on my left eye. It looked kind of funny :goodvibes

i wish i could help, but i can't ever sleep. ever. i lay in bed staring at the ceiling. i'm either too hot or too cold. and i have a 20 lb dog laying on me and everytime i move he attacks me. what's the point...
