Dh has been having a hard time falling asleep and doesn't want to take any otc sleep aids to help him go to sleep. Hoping for some other suggestions to help him wind down and get some rest!
So, what helps you fall asleep when you can't?
:teeth:

Vodka
or a hammer when Vodka does not work!!!!
but sometimes my wife rubs my back and that may work too!!! :thumbsup2

Try a couple drops of lavendar oil on his pillow and on his temples.

I'm usually asleep within two minutes of us finishing ... uh, nevermind.

Well not the DIS, that is for sure.

Eat early and take a long walk afterwards.

Or a couple of jello shots works too.

I have an eye pillow that heats up in the microwave. I fall asleep with it on almost every night. It's very relaxing. You can get them at Cost Plus World Market.
Eye Pillows

I can't sleep without my white noise machine.

YUP, DH & I bought one of those SLEEP SENSATION machines from

SHARPER IMAGE and it is GREAT!!!! Has about 20 different sounds to listen to from babbling brook to a fireside...neat... :thumbsup2

chamomile (sp?) tea with a little warm milk in it, a warm bath with lavender oil, DH giving me a gentle massage, snuggled up with my favorite soft blanket, and DH reading aloud to me from a favorite book (something where I know what is coming next so I just get lulled to sleep by the sound of his voice). Oh, and shutting the kitties out of the room so they don't start a game of "chase your sister" on top of the bed.

Sometimes absolutely nothing works for me....even prescription medication. :sad2: I think sometimes you get too keyed up on the inside over things and just can't get your mind to relax. For me, it's no doubt the fun and excitement of the Dis Board!!!! :rotfl2:

Sometimes a fan or white noise machine works. I also love falling asleep with the tv on as long as it's not an interesting show (the shopping network works really well).

My favourite method would have to be Benadryl :thumbsup2

Half a glass of wine, a fresh pillowcase, and the TV. I can't fall asleep without the TV on.

Oh, and one other thing always works wonders...nudge, nudge. :thumbsup2

Not what you want to hear but 3 triazadone and an ambian cr. That and some tv or computer time does it for me. I don't see the need to suffer any longer with insomnia.
