What Have I Missed?

Hey All -

It's been a while since I've been around, and I'm wondering what I've missed? (Besides a whole lot of new people on the DVC boards who I don't recognize)

We still own DVC - had it on the market last year because we needed some cash to pay taxes on the FL house, but it didn't sell....YAY! One good thing about the market going bad...

Anyhow, where are the new DVC's being built? Did I hear Hawaii and Contemporary?

I've got 10 days booked at Animal Kingdom Villas in January and can't wait!

If you can believe it we haven't been in the parks since 2006! Stayed a few nights at SSR last year, but that was only after a cousin's wedding on Amelia Island and just 2 days so no parks....


So tell me, WHAT HAVE I MISSED?

It sounds like you are up on the new DVCs (you know about CA though, right?) It also sounds like you deserve a trip!
We will be going in Jan also (VWL).

Hi Annie...welcome back!

Let's see..they recently changed the reservation system so you call 7/11 months ahead of CHECK-IN date instead of check-out date, and you can reserve a week at a time I think. LOTS of discussion about that and how that system can be gamed.

They changed the waitlist system too.

They changed DDP to include tips and such...not sure what else changed about it.

They announced DL and Hawaii DVC, and refuse to announce the very secret project next to the Contemporary.

Kidani section of AKV opens May 1, 2009.

They're putting glassware back into studios.

That's about all that comes quickly to mind. Enjoy planning your January trip!!

Yes Muushka! Of course I remember you! Our dates are 1/12 to 1/22. If they coincide with yours send me a PM and let's meet for a drink!

I missed the CA DVC plans....any date for that to open?

Granny! Great to see you and thanks for the list! Wow! A lot has changed!

We had jimmytammy here with us for a few days and jimmy kept mentioning the disboards and I knew I had to come back and catch up.

I've been pretty busy - went back to school to finish my Bachelors Degree, I'll graduate next May...I know, I know.... I so did everything backwards from many disboards recommendations.

I laugh when I remember the threads that used to say "College, then house, then DVC"? My order was DVC, then house, then college....oh well, they have their priorities I have mine!


I'll have to start reading some more threads to catch up on everything!

Welcome back... I am guessing I'm one of the ones you don't recognize, but I have been pretty active for the last year or so... I am Rob. I try to help as much as I can. I focus on Vero Beach since it is my favorite place on earth.

I don't venture away from the DVC boards much except for sometimes the photography board.

Good to know you. Hope you are back for a good while.

Hi Rob! Nice to meet you too! I hope to be back for a while. I need a diversion from studying....and I do miss these boards...although I think the last time I spent a lot of time here there were only two for DVC - the DVC board and the Rent and Trade board. Looks like I'm going to have to figure out what gets posted where.

Muushka, I'm sorry we'll miss you by one day!

We're up North again. (Otherwise I'd be able to pop over to Disney and see you) Long story - we kept the house though...I'll PM you.
