WHat has been your biggest splurge using your points?

We are currently booked in a GV at VGF during our honeymoon for one night before a cruise...our 2016 points were going to expire so why not? We would actually like to try to get a bungalow at the 7 month mark, but we are still debating! :)

This will be our second week long 2 bedroom ocean view stay in Aulani! It's coming up in February. For Tom and I it's joined to a 1 week RCI stay in a 1 bedroom on Maui. Those 2 weeks cost over 550 points, and $95!

I would like to hear about your RCI trade after you get back!! Where did you get into and how far out did you plan? We love Maui and I would not go that far without island hopping. After our week at Aulani last time we did 3 nights over there using Starwood points at the Sheraton Ka'anapali (where we had stayed before) - but it was starting to show it's age since the last time we'd stayed there. Would be interested in what we could get into as an RCI trade...but I think next time we manage to go instead of ending on Maui we might start there and finish at Aulani. Aulani is just so spectacular...want to end on a good note!!

One Bedroom at OKW when we took my parents (i know not a huge splurge but give me time i will do better)

I splurge when we do a pool/garden at bwv! Or lake at blt. We've done it voluntarily a few times but that home resort priority means std is our go to view....

Too rich for my blood....
Yes those standard views are quite the deal!

Wow that sounds amazing!! I can't wait to step foot on Aulani property and just enjoy the resort. I decided we are staying put with one excursion to Pearl Harbor. Then sightsee from POA cruise.
I did 3 nights in an AKV CL studio a few years ago. That was my big splurge up until next fall. I have a BWV GV booked for a week during F&W. I'll be "point poor" for a couple of years because of that little extravagance but I'm looking forward to the stay with my family.
I haven't done CL level anywhere yet. This thread is reminding me of all the awesome stuff still to do with my points :-)
Thanks
Kerri

DVC points usage for DCLs:
2 DCLs with multiple rooms to take family along with us all on points.
3 DCLs for DW and I all on points 1-4 night and 2-7 night.
2 DCLs for DW and I with one on points and one on cash.
1 DCL for DW and I all on cash - special rate that cost us less than $100 per day per person.
and
Now planning points use for next DCL for May '18.
Yes DCL is quite the splurge!!! We almost did that once and on a lark I gave Davids rental a try for renting my points to pay for DCL. I have to say transaction was done in 24 hours. I never
considered renting my points because I always use them. But I am quite happy to know that option is there and very easy.

LOL.....Those 1BR at OKW are HUGE!! Careful you are now officially loving all of that extra room over a studio:D
Thanks

Booking three 2 BRs for my brother's family for four nights, which included 3 adult children and all the grandchildren, there was a total of 18 of us. That wiped out two years of points for us and we haven't had many banked points since then. We almost booked a studio too, but the fourth niece just had premie twins and had to stay home. We finally booked a 2BR for her and her DH their 3 year old twins and my DB and DSIL while we stayed in a studio nearby. It was great being there for their first Disney vacation. I love it that we can do this kind of thing. And yes it was worth it just seeing the kids faces and all those photos taken by the Disney photographers--fabulous.

A week in a GV at OKW for the whole family to celebrate my retirement!!!!! Loved it, thinking about doing it again for a couple of days!!!!

I booked last February based on this review.

I will post a report for sure! Really, a week in Maui for $95 and 150 points! It's only a 1 bedroom, but a lot fewer points.
I agree that Aulani is spectacular!

2 week 2 bedroom ocean view room at Aulani! I still can't believe we did that. We had just added a new VGC contract and picked up a bunch of points.

2 splurges. First was a one week family trip with a GV, a 2 bedroom and 2 - 1 bedrooms, BWV, all BW view. I don't remember how many points it was but it was a lot. Second was using the old concierge collection for high end resorts in Hawaii--1 week at Mauna Lani on the Big Island and 1 week for Kapalua Bay resort on Maui. Again, I don't remember how many points, but it was a boatload. Both splurges worth every point.

That's how we

That's how we felt using our Starwood points for the Sheraton Ka'anapali - felt almost "free". Even tho we had stayed there happily several years before it was such a let down after Aulani.

How long did it take to get the trade? Was it a long wait for it to come thru?

374 pts 2 bd dedicated 6 nights at VGF Dec 30 - Jan 5th for me, DH and 2 college age DD. Family said I knocked it out of the park on that trip. Worth every point.

No wait at all. We called DVC and we booked the dates we wanted. We wanted to co-ordinate our vacation with others and it worked!

We used 2 years of points on a GV for Thanksgiving. So excited. We have 12 people coming and it's our first time in a Grand Villa.

We've done lots of splurges with our points over the years. Several trips with 20+ people makes for some great family times. Last year we were able to do 5 days in an oceanview gv at Aulani after a cruise. This year we have 20, maybe 22, staying at BWV for a week for the Food & Wine festival.
