What Happens if it rains?

I was interested in going to the first night of MNSSHP and was wondering...I know rain is quite common during that time period so do they still have parade/fireworks during the rain?

Parade would depend on how hard it is raining, they will still run it if it is a light drizzle however, even the slightest rain will cancel the Headless Horseman for safety reasons. As far as fireworks, it generally takes a monsoon for them to be canceled.

We have gone to WDW in the summer months, very rainy at times -- and have almost always seen fireworks in the rain. I think the concern for the fireworks and other pyro shows is usually the lightning rather than the rain. Same with certain rides.

Even then, we once saw Illuminations in a torrential downpour WITH lightning that started up once the show was underway. Our kids thought the lightning was part of the show!

:rotfl: That was my first thought too, but...

As CDS stated at MNSSHP they will only cancel the parade if it is a significant amount of rain, although the Headless Horseman will be canceled if there is any chance it will rain during his run. Fireworks generally go off either way.
