What happened to the Sunday drive?

We go for lots of recreational rides on the motorcycle when its warmer out because it costs less. We get more miles for our money and we don't feel like we're cooped up in a cage with wheels.

I like Sunday drives. Not slow ones though!

We drive so much during the week that the thought of a Sunday drive doesn't sound very relaxing anymore. I do admit that sometimes in the summer when I'm not driving as much - we do occasionally take a Sunday drive.

My parents love just going for a ride. They do it frequently.

Me... I hate riding in the car and don't see anything enjoyable about it at all. Truthfully, I just plain hate to GO places. I like BEING in places, but I hate having to get there.

There's my answer. Sunday's usually our only day to sit home and relax! :goodvibes

I agree! The last thing I want to do is drive even more on the weekends!

Also we live in a large metropolitan area so a nice country drive isn't close by at all.

Bingo. Eons ago people didn't have commutes from H E double hockey sticks, and eons and eons ago driving at all was a novelty. Now it is a torture! I'm thinking Sunday football may have put a crink in it too!

Oh there's still Sunday driving. It's usually centered around this kid's soccer tournament or that kids swim team.

Honestly I never really went on long country drives with my parents. They were so busy during the week that weekends were reserved for family things. Sports games on Saturday, Church on Sunday and my parents' weekly "date" - to the grocery store.

That's sounds like my DH and me. Hop on the Harley and see where you end up. Usually ice cream is involved:banana:!

Places we go can be anywhere from the Gettysburg or Antietam Battlefield, a road winding through the mountains, a Harley Davidson store, or just the back country roads around our hometown.

Whenever we get behind a super slow car, DH and I joke that they "must be out for their Sunday drive" no matter what day it is. :)

DH and I do still like taking drives. Just hop in the car and go. Maybe just ride around our own area looking at the other farms and drive around the local lake, or maybe head north further and do some back roading to "see what we can see."

I remember taking drives with my parents/grandparents a lot while growing up. I thought it was so boring. When we were up north visiting my grandparents, we drove around a lot in the evenings looking for deer. Now those are great memories. :)

Commutes during the week and weekend projects happened. We do alot of planned weekend trips throughout the year but if we don't have one planned the last thing we want to do is spend a weekend day just driving around.

We still take drives! My whole family loves it. We just hop in the car and go, maybe stop to take some pictures, grab lunch, or check out an interesting shop. Being in the car is soooo relaxing to me, and my kids seem to feel the same way. Lucky me!
When we lived in Oregon, and my husband was deployed, drives are how I kept my sanity. With a 3 year old, a newborn, and a house for sale, sometimes I just needed a few moments of quiet so I could actually think. I'd put the kids in the morning, hit up the drive through coffee place for a toasted marshmallow mocha, and we would just drive for a little bit. It was so....ahhhhh!
Oregon is beautiful! It was hard to feel down when the sun was shining through those tall trees, the cool air was blowing through the window, and the waves were crashing on a pristine beach!

I want to input this :

Years ago when I was a kid we would go to church Sunday morning come home and my mom would fix a big Sunday meal, we would eat and clean the kitchen back up, we would then go visit a family member and play outside while my folks talked on the front porch. We would then go home take a nap, get up and get ready and go back to church.

Today : We go to church on Sunday stop on the way home and eat out, go home and rest get back up and it's time to go back to Sunday evening church.

Is time going by super fast now or it it just me :confused3 we use to be able to get so much done in a day and now from the time you get up there is not enough time in a day to do anything hardly????

We still take road trips but just usually on a Saturday.popcorn::

So many of us are overstimulated on a daily basis. Our lives are filled with so many "things" to do that we're unable to appreciate one day at a time.

There always seem to be overwhelming thoughts on what tomorrow's schedule entails, what commitments have to be fulfilled next week, next month.
The ability to completely relax is quickly becoming just a memory!

Now that sounds like my kind of drive! :thumbsup2

Sounds like the kind of place one could easily lose life's stressors, while finding inner calm! :goodvibes

Oh man...the Sunday drive was TORTURE to me growing up. I must have promised myself 10,000 times that once I was an adult I would NEVER go on a Sunday drive again.

I'm a destination person. I drive to get from Point A to Point B.

DH and I usually do our "Drive to no where", as we call them, in October when the leaves are changing. We head out to eastern Long Island where it's mostly farmland and very relaxing. It's very beautiful to see the leaves changing and the farmstands open. DS7 loves going out east to the pumpking farm that we have been taking him to since he was 4 months old.

However, during the summer months, we dont' go out east b/c of the amount of tourists/celebrities going out to the Hamptons and the surrounding towns.
