What happened to our book thread?

No matter how many books I read, my TBR pile just gets bigger and bigger!!

And isn't that just the best feeling? I think I might be getting a Nook soon and when I do, I know I'm going to miss the joy I get when I look at my beloved to-read pile next to my nightstand.

Night Strangers sounds fantastic and that one is going on my list. I think it will perfect with Halloween right around the corner.

Also, has anyone on here read 'The Name of the Rose'? I'm really torn on that one. It sounds fascinating and the theme is right up my alley, but I'm afraid it might be a little too...ummm... intellectual for me. I really hate getting a book and then not finishing it.

I read Gone Girl recently and absolutely loved it - and I disagree with the statement that the ending is a cop-out. Disturbing, yes, but in a way that I felt really matched the tone of the rest of the book.

Sharp Objects (same author) was good also, though not quite up to the level of Gone Girl. Gone Girl kept me on the edge of my seat more, and definitely had some plot twists I didn't see coming.

I couldnt agree more, I thought the Gone Girl ending fit perfect i the warped mind of the girl, and yes sharp objects was good but not as good. Her Middle book Dark Places I thought was as good as gone girl

I loved it. Hard to get past the very 1st of the book, but it ends up playing such an important part in the trilogy

I am halfway through the second book and you are so right. The second book is an easier read but I needed to get through the first one. Both are good reads and I'm looking forward to the third

I think Yellow Crocuses is a lot more like The Kitchen House than The Help, but it's not as good as either. It's good, not great. JMO!

You are absolutely right. Yellow Crocuses is alot more like Kitchen House (probably one of my new favorite books) then The Help. I thought it was a great read. If you liked Kitchen House and Yellow Crocuses, may I recommend Tanglewood Plantation. Once again, not as good as Kitchen House but still a good story

I just finished "Armed and Outrageous", a free Kindle download. In all honesty, it was worth about what I paid-nothing! So the next book I chose is by Sherryl Woods, who never lets me down, "Catching Fireflies" and I'm really enjoying it.

I couldn't finish Circus of the Damned(Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series). I seriously lost interest in the story. I might pick it back up to finish it though one day since I like the series so far. I hate it when you are reading a series and you dislike one or two of the books but feel like you have to read them.

I am about 39% of the way through Our Husband by Stephanie Bond. I really like it! It's an entertaining read for sure.

Yes, it is very much like The Kitchen House. It's not as good as The Kitchen House but it is good. Tanglewood Plantation will be my next book. I love books written from this era. Did you happen to read The Dry Grass of August? Takes place in the south in the 50s. It's more like The Help. Not as good but a good read.

Last night I finished "The Rose Garden" by Susanna Kearsley. Absolutely wonderful!! It's romance, part present-day part historical, has some time travel thrown in (and the time travel is believable). The story had me hooked from the first chapter or two. Nice twist at the end. I only wish it had an epilogue to tell us what the characters were up to a year or so after the end of the noval. I highly recommend it!

I like her books! Haven't read The Rose Garden yet. I read her other one: Winter's something or other I think and it was good.

I did read The Dry Grass of August, and you are right it was good but not great. I did enjoy it though.

I just finished September Fair by Jess Lowry. This is a very light "murder by month" series, a lot like the Stephanie Plum series. I thought it was lots of fun. I got it free on Pixel of Ink a couple of weeks ago and now I want to read more in the series.

I just started 11/22/63 by Stephen King. So far I am loving it and I hated to put it down last night, but unfortunately, sleep got the better of me.

Although I've read several of his novels, he's not been one of my top authors primarily because I think his endings sort of fall flat. Furthermore, at times his villains are just a little over-the-top. I do love his writing style and character development, though, so I hope I'm not disappointed by the ending of this one.

I just finished up Bond Girl by Erin Duffy.

It was pretty interesting and simliar to Devil Wears Prada as it is about the new girl starting work. However, this is on Wall Street right before the bust of 2008. I had always heard horror stories about trying to make in the Street as a woman and this story, though fiction, really talks about how difficult it can be. It does drag in a lot of places and if you don't like econimics talk don't read this book.

I have also read some fluff by Kathleen Brooks on my Nook. It's series set in small town KY with some mystery attached. I'm really enjoy the series just for the small town Southern atmosphere makes me miss home. The first book in the series is free on the Nook and called Bluegrass State of Mind.

I finished a couple books by Diane Kelly as well. Very similar to the Stephanie Plum books but about a girl in special operation investigations of the IRS. Kinda drags in some places but good humor in them.

I've been bored and going back to read some of my Kay Hooper books. If you like some romantic suspense with sixth sense, this is a great series. All the heroes/heroines work for special unit of FBI that has special attributes about them.

that is so true and made me laugh! I wish Sophie would write another Shopaholic book, she is long overdue. Somehow that character has never become stale, even though she never seems to change her ways. She's just so loveable you let her get away with all her nonsense, a lot like Lucy!
